The Official Dark Avengers Thread

I suppose. I'd really just like to see Xavier reclaim his title as the most powerful psychic in the world. We're finally rid of Jean and Cable, who got amped up way past Xavier over the last couple decades, and Franklin Richards' brain is still reduced to that of a normal kid, so now Charles should logically be the peak of psychic power on Earth.

Be that as it may, there still needs to be struggle to be interesting.

So I'm sure she'll bat him around for a bit to make it interesting, and then he'll get tired of it and show her who's boss.

Yeah, which is fine. Cyclops may contribute by keeping Charles off guard on the physical realm, too. That'd be cool.

That would be interesting.

I'm hoping for a resolution/reconsiliation at the end though between the two.

Xavier's story makes me sad, since it's like a father trying to redeem himself in his son's eyes. :(

At this point, I'd be glad to see the father give the son a spanking for becoming such a dick, myself. I can't stand Cyclops anymore.

I can't comment, because I still love his character.

On top of that I understand why he has to be the way he is now.

I understand why they've made him the way he is now, but I think a good leader would be effective without compromising morals he once held dear.

I just listened to that interview Dan Slott just did with Fanboy Radio and it was great. He talked about SI and things post-SI and it sounds like there really are going to be some "HUGE" changes.

Dan Slott doesn't lie.

We have had this conversation before mister. :cmad:

He only compromised those once, and it was to get rid of the purifiers, who have shown that they will stop at nothing to kill those mutants that are left. They killed a bus load of children to forward their "cleansing" and they have shown no stopping or hesitation.

His reason for sicking X-Force after Cable was never completely clear, but at that moment he thought that Cable was responsible for a whole towns death and destruction, so he didn't know what to expect. On top of that, he knew Wolverine would be able to judge the situation properly.

I think so far, the only times he has chosen those routes, he was justified.

The only time I had an issue was in Young X-Men, sending the kids to kill the ex New Mutants, and it turned out that it wasn't him.

I don't think Cyclops has completely abbandoned his moral center, but he has shifted it a bit. Like he said in Astonishing: He won't shoot first and ask questions later, and he will try to find a way to solve a problem without killing, which is why he didn't blast the fire guy away. But he won't lose sleep if a death of a killer or murderer happens, since that stuff happens in a war...and the mutants right now are slap dash in the middle of a war of survival.

/End of opinion

Yeah, we have had this conversation before. I know I'm in the minority regarding Cyclops' character shift, and that's fine. I don't even read Uncanny X-Men anymore, so it's not like I have to deal with Cyclops very often anyway.

Still, I hope Xavier slaps him around a bit. :)

So now we're gonna have 4 ongoing avengers books?? New, Mighty, Initiative and Dark? Hasn't marvel learned from X-men that over-milking a franchise is a bad thing???

I still want my 2nd Captain America and Thor titles. :csad:

Well I want a Thing Two-In-One title. Anyone else got a pipedream?

:thing: :thing: :thing:

Mine actually makes sense since Captain America and Thor technically have a higher Readership than Spider-Man does right now.

Fantastic Four doesn't even break top 25 anymore, Thor is always top 10, and Cap isn't far behind.

Why is a thread that was started for what we now know is Marvel Noir named after Dark Reign, etc, when they're two separate things?

Write a good Two-In-One with good art and great writing and Thing will be top 25. Fans are ready to make up for us screwing the pooch on the Dan Slott / Thing series.

this should really be two or three different threads; Corp is just going power hungry and merging threads to display his dominance.

Kneel before Corp!

I miss the Thing solo comics; those were more innocent times in comics.:csad:

I just read Millar's interview on newsarama, man i love how Millar's so brutally honest about things, he doesnt sugarcoat things like most other people. He actually admitted that the Marvel U was copying the Ultimate universe's style, he even said that the BND Spiderman is more like Ultimate Spidey now, which is what us fans have been saying since BND started! Wow, i dont think Joe Q would appreciate that, but i love how Millar always says what he feels. Anyway, Ultimate Avengers sounds awesome, let's see if they can beat the 616 universe again, they've got a real tough act to follow.

Still in my all-time top 5!

wait ..didnt they say Mighty was "finished" meaning done with issue 20?

No one can replace Bendis!

On an Avengers title? Off the top of my head I could think of better writers who are still writing comics for Marvel:

Dan Slott, Christos Gage, Jeff Parker, Van Lente, Brian Reed, Abnett & Lanning, Cebulski...

Granted, Marvel may just replace Mighty with Dark, although I can't imagine them passing up the chance to at least TRY shipping Avengers three times a month.

Oh, and the Spidey story in which "we find out what REALLY happened in the Wedding issue"....just, ugh. The Parker Marriage is to Joe Q the same sort of fetish that the Silver Age is to Geoff Johns and Dan DiDio. I mean, Joe's already turned ASM into a farce removing the marriage. He drafted the worst Spider-Man story since the Clone Saga, and it only took 5-6 years after Mackie left the book. Leave it alone, man! What next? The Celestials erase it from existence?

Okay, quick run down on what this is and why i'm suddenly subscribed to this thread I've never been in?
