The Official Dark Avengers Thread

I can't wait to read th new noir series but I'll skip the Ultimates.

Just read about Millar going back onto the Ultimates. That is the best news ever!
I skipped the whole Ults #3 and luckily didn't waste a dime on that trash (just flipping through it nearly made me ill). So I'm looking forward to having more pure gold to add to my Ults 1 and 2 collection :D

Unfortunately for some odd reason even though Millar's doing an Ultimates series, Loeb will be returning to do another Ultimates series alongside Millar's Ultimate Avengers. Why marvel, why?

according to a new interview on newsarama, loeb's next ultimates volume will be titled 'new ultimates.' no joke.

I believe it.

NEW ULTIMATES. When cliches of marketing collide.

What is the volume after that? NEW ULTIMATES X-TREME A-GO-GO?

Please have Tim Sale be drawing it. Sale seems to be the only person who can whip Loeb into shape.

As much as i love Tim sale's art, i dont think his style would fit the ultimate universe.

I think any style would fit in the Ultimate universe. What's tying Mark Bagley, Bryan Hitch, David Finch, Pasqual Ferry, and the other Ultimate artists together stylistically? I can't see anything, other than the fact that they're mostly good artists, which Tim Sale certainly qualifies as.

You're right actually, I take back what I said, i was going to say that maybe Sale's art was a little too cartoony for the "real-world"-ish Ultimate universe, but then i realized that we have artists like Pasqual Ferry and Stuart Immonen who also have cartoony styles that work well. My bad.

Yeah, Bagley is about as old school tights and spandex as it gets..and I never felt the tone of Ultimate Spidey matched the tone of Ultimates, which is a discussion on the Ultimates 3 thread about "ultimate U is supposed to be realistic"......

Loeb should be banned from ever writing again with what he did with Ults 3.

I also hate Tim Sales art style. Even if you like the style he uses, you have to admit it is EXTREMELY lazy compared to the amount of detail most comic artists use. Skillful detail work in art = more time and effort. Tim Sale's style has very little detail (his characters at least).

(Man, after saying all that I hope I have the right artist in mind).

Please keep Tim Sale away from the Ultimate books. And the artist has already been confirmed. It was originally Ed McGuiness but now it's Frank Cho.

:cmad:

I didnt like his style either at first, but i really think he's one of those artists that you just havta give a chance and you get used to it.

So he could be kinda compared to putting your hand on a hot oven. You do it enough times and your nerves will die and it won't bother you anymore :)

Pfft, you're crazy. Next person that posts after me, tell him he's crazy.

so when Dark Avengers get all popular and big, we can expect a "Dark X-men" and a Dark [insert superhero team name] in the next couple of years.
