The Official Doc Savage Thread

Not getting a picture. Who is it?

I personally wouldn't consider either Lucas or McConauhey.....both good actors, but not big enough for Doc.

Thomas Hayden Church, but if you are thinking Lucas or McConaughey are not big enough for Doc, then Church definately isn't. He does thave the look though.

Who do you think?

From the look of Savage from the drawing on the back of the Bantam books, Church would be my pick. He put on pounds of muscle for Spidey 3 so I think he could be a real good choice for Doc Savage. He is a great actor and I really can't picture too many others for the choice right now. Josh Lucas could work well from his features.

Have the Doc Savage books in my possession and will start reading up on them tonight.

I should be able to get stuff in the mail to you tomorrow....hope it helps.

Church? He isn't really tall is he? Doc Savage is a giant in his time, towers over his fellow men.

No problem man, I appreciate you doing this.

"This script is dedicated to C. Lee for his tireless efforts in supporting the character of Doc Savage."

Yeah.....he needs to be more like Rolph Mueller.

I think he's just under 6 feet, so he doesn't have the height, but he does have the facial resemblence and body type for a film version of Doc.

Who would you have in mind for a big screen version of Doc?

Ralf Moeller

Wow the guy from Gladiator, he is huge.

Yeah...someone like that. Doc is around 6'6".....and in fantastic shape. He dominates a room when he enters.....the bad guys crap their pants when he comes after them.

Camera angles can make all the difference in the world. Look what it does for Tom Cruise.

No doubt that Doc has to be larger than life, but it gets harder to find somebody with some acting chops at that size, not saying Rolph doesn't. He definately looks the part, I'll tell you that. Luckily I am onl writing and get to leave it at that either way.

Oh...I know finding someone to fit the part is hard....and you'll probably never be able to find a good actor who is the actual size (I like Ralf, but he still has the accent)....but I would like for them to find someone close.

Lucas and McCounahey are both excellent actors....they are both in good physical shape....but they come nowhere close to being Doc sized.

I feel they pretty much need some unknown.

Damn...forgot about him....did you see him as Ajax in "Troy"?

I finally saw Troy actually, so yes I did.

He's playing Micheal Myers in Zombie's upcoming Halloween.

He has the physical attributes, 6-9 to 6-10, big build and has some acting chops. He would tower above people and really amp up the fantasy aspect of Doc.

Might have to check out the WWE for other contenders.

How tall is John Cena? I haven't seen his movie "The Marine" yet...wonder how well he acts?

He's just over 6 feet, but he's from the Boston area so that is cool.

I always felt that the Doc should look huge in terms of height and the broadness of his shoulders, but he shouldn't look pro wrestler ripped. Tonned, yes, but not ripped.

I think that is why Mayne would work, he isn't ripped up necessarily, although he could accomplish this.

agree, Doc anything like a wrestler figure but more like a gymnast and weight lifter, he should look strong but athlete enough to move fast.

I thought Tyler Mane was a wrestler....is he not? I don't watch much wrestling, I thought there were some not steroided up into monsters.
