Wow Morg, those are awesome shots.

I am going to have to find somebody to make me a wallpaper or myspace background.

I love all those Pulp Heroes even if I haven't read any of they're stuff. My knowledge of them comes from Wiki. So what do you guys recommend reading?

I love them all too.....but the easiest to find is Doc Savage. All of his original 181 adventures have been republished as paperback books. They can easily be found in used book stores or on ebay.

Next would probably be the Shadow. There were a lot more original stories published, but less of them republished. Currently Nostalgia Press (I'll check and get their website address) is reprinting both Doc and the Shadow in nice large size papercover books. Each reprints two pulp stories with the artwork that originally appeared in them. The Nostalgia Press also reprints other pulp magazines.

A character similar to the Shadow called The Spider has had stories republished in paperback...as have G8-and his Battle Aces.

Doc and his crew carry "machine pistols".....they can be set for single shot or full auto....they have large magazines, and different mags carry different projectiles (regular bullets, explosive shells, knockout shots, etc....). This was ahead of it's time for 1933.

Here is a nice drawing that Jim Steranko did of one.

Thanks for the help C. Lee :woot: I'll be glad if I could at least get my hands on Shadow and Doc Savage. Phantom Detective is the other guy I what to catch up with besides The Spider. Some Sci-fi wouldn't hurt either.

if you like pulpstyle heroes the was a book in paperback called weird heroes that had pulpstyle hero novellas

Very nice post. I now need to find a way to incorporate this into the script. Interesting.

I've got them.....I believe 8 books were published in all. They were short stories or the occasional full length novel. They had art made for the stories scattered throughout the book like in the pulps.

Glad to be of help. I'm glad to hear others like the pulps....we can start throwing info on all of them in here.

I hadn't heard either until I read that. I still have the Sci Fi Illustrated mags he put out in the 70's too. He was a man out of time....be sadly missed.

At this point, if casting were to start tomorrow, who would you cast as Doc Savage in a feature film?

Not getting a picture. Who is it?

I personally wouldn't consider either Lucas or McConauhey.....both good actors, but not big enough for Doc.
