The Official Dragon Quest Thread

second

The map on the bottom screen of the Nintendo 3DS indicates in red where you’ll need to go while in towns and out in the fields.

In Break World you won’t be able to notice everything around you by simply walking and looking, so that’s where you’ll need to use the Reactor device or ride monsters.

The Reactor device can help you find data on monsters and it can also find hidden treasure chests and other objects you normally can’t see. As shown in the above screenshot, there will be an indication when the Reactor is responding to something, which usually means that there’s a hidden object nearby.

Treasure chests aren’t the only thing you’ll find with the Reactor, as it can also reveal invisible bridges, and more.

The “Ride” feature will also come in handy in Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3, as you’ll use it to reach areas you normally can’t on foot. The Rides come in three varieties of land, sea, and sky, and the monsters will be able to provide you with help for any of the three types of travel.

As you advance through the story, the Rides also evolve, making it possible to perform new actions. For example, certain Rides will gain the ability to do extra jumps to reach areas you weren’t able to before.

With over 500 monsters in the game, you’ll get to use Ride with countless monsters, and they all have their unique looks for the feature, as shown in the above images.

You’ll also get to attack monsters while riding, which leads to monsters being knocked out or stunned for a short while, giving you a nice advantage before starting the fight.

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 is in development for Nintendo 3DS.

Dragon Quest X and Monster Parade monsters set to appear.
Square Enix has released a new set of details and screenshots for Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 introducing the game’s “Scout Attatck” recruitment system, monster skills and accessories, and more.
Get the information below.

■ Scout Attack
The silver-haired protagonist is on a journey to recover his memories. Being a monster master, he is able to trigger the “Scout Attack,” a skill in which his monster companions make use of his power to unleash a special attack at the opponent. If it’s a success, you can recruit the enemy monster as an ally. A gauge that appears on screen will display your scouting success rate. Even at a small percentage, it’s possible to scout a monster.

DQMJ3_12-16-15_002.jpg

In battle, there is a new “Strategy” command available to players. Selecting this command offers a total of six options, such as “Accumulate Tension” or “Use Special Skills.” If your “Tension” is accumulated, your attack will be more powerful, and the scout gauge will rise more easily.

■ Skills
As you battle your monsters, they will continue to level up. Doing so will increase their attack power and other statuses. However, each race of monster also has a variety of skills, and you can allocate skill points to learn these special skills and spells.

DQMJ3_12-16-15_004.jpg

For example, the monster “Dragon Kids” has the skills “Drago Force” and “Speed +1.” If you allocate your skill points to Drago Force, you’ll learn a powerful breath attack. If you allocate your skill points to Speed +1, you’ll be able to attack enemies more quickly.
In this regard, you can have two of the same monsters raised completely different from each other.

■ Accessories
Monsters can also be equipped with accessories that raise its capabilities. By handing over materials like shrubs and ores to the accessory shop, you can create accessories that offer various effects. Each accessory can have a maximum of three effects.

Dragon Quest Builders Shows More Of Its Minecart Action And Lava-Filled Areas. December 23, 2015 . 12:30pm

Dragon Quest Builder’s latest screenshots give us a closer look inside one of the lava-filled areas of the third continent Maira,
along with a look at what you can do with a Minecart and tracks

Dragon Quest Builders’ third continent called Maira will have you digging around for loot in areas that consist of mining grounds and lava. 4Gamer’s latest screenshots give us a closer look at what’s inside.

Maira:

The lava zone features a variety of different monsters. The ones shown in the above image appear to be guarding some kind of fortress. It makes you wonder what kind of loot you can find in there.

There are tough monsters that live in harsh conditions, and you can bet that they’ll be more than willing to put up a good fight. It’s good to know that you’ll also get help from allies at times.

As you advance through the story in Maira, you’ll be able to create “Hot Springs.” You might even be able to cook up some local specialty dishes at the springs.

Just walking around the lava in Maria will be enough to deplete your health, so traveling by foot will be a pain, but fear not, as you’ll get to use a Minecart to travel safely and with ease.

Minecarts come in wood and iron varieties. The iron ones even have a mean-looking spike on the front.

In order to move with the Minecart, you’ll need to place some tracks. There are tracks for straight lines, curves, and inclinations, allowing you to place them however you like through Maira.

You can blast away monsters that get in the way with your Minecart, so don’t worry if you run into some tough monsters.

There are endless possibilities to work your way around the lava-filled map if you get creative with your Minecart and tracks. The above image gives us a little example of what you can do to help get around in Maira.

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Will Let You Choose Out Of 5 Monsters From Fusions. January 7, 2016 . 2:30am

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3’s latest details give us a look at its Monster Fusion system, where you can pair up monsters and pick out of five different offspring to join your party.
001_thumb.jpg

Dragon Quest Monsters
games have always been about mixing and matching monsters to come up with your own unique and powerful allies. 4Gamer’s latest report gives us a look at how it’s done in Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3.

In addition to leveling monsters up and equipping accessories, there’s another way to power up monsters by using the “Monster Fusion.” Similar to past games from the series, this works by getting two monsters as the parents and creating an even more powerful monster between the two. This can be repeated to keep on making stronger monsters.

For starters, you’ll need two monsters as the parents. Since they don’t have any genders, you’ll be able to mix and match to your heart’s content.

The above is the fusion product “Fondue” from the two monsters of Eggplaton and Smiling Lizard.

In Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3, you’ll get to choose out of five different monsters as a result of the Monster Fusion. So that means if you fuse monsters using a Nature-type and Demon-type, you can also get a variety of different monsters from different types or make them into the same but more powerful version of their parents.

Depending on how your mix, there are countless possibilities of creating monsters, and even some special ones that can only be made through certain pairings, which include extra powerful monsters.

The monsters that are created from fusions can get skills from their parents in addition to the skills they’re born with. The above images show how even a simple Slime can become powerful enough to pull off techniques like Gigagash.

Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 will release in Japan on March 24, 2016 for Nintendo 3DS.

Special Machine:

As previously reported, these “machines” can be used to charge towards enemies and do massive damage regardless of their level.

Amelda and Friends:

You’ll team up with Amelda to help revive Maira. She’s the leader of the Thugs, and they’ll team up with you in battle. You’ll also get to create powerful weapons such as cannons.

As for the lack of PlayStation TV compatibility, it is listed under spec next to PlayStation Vita, so those of you who were hoping to play on the big screen will have to go with the PS4 or PS3 versions of the game.

Dragon Quest Builders will release in Japan on January 28, 2016 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.

Dragon Quest Builders is 50 to 60 hours long
Published 12 hours ago. 34 comments.
Tidbits from producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto.

DQB-Fami-Interview_01-12-16.jpg

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has an interview with Dragon Quest Builders producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto, who discusses the game’s length, among other factors.
Get the interview tidbits below.
Are there any differences based on the protagonist’s gender?
Fujimoto: “No. You can also customize the player’s skin and hair color. You can change your appearance, including your name, at any time via the system menu.”
Regarding Free Build Mode…
“In Free Build mode, since the entire map is like a town, monsters won’t surface. If you want to battle monsters, you can go to the ‘The Island of Cleared Stage Materials’ or the ‘Battle Island,’ which will be a private island where you can fight. On Battle Island, you can get special rewards by using Battle Tickets.”
How long does it take to clear the story?
“You can enjoy the main story for about the same about of time as a traditional Dragon Quest game. If you explore each continent and do the side elements, it’ll take 100 hours easy. If you’re just doing the main story without detours, you’ll be playing for 50 to 60 hours. The towns in the story mode aren’t big, as we’ve put limitations. I want you to create big towns in Free Build mode.”
Regarding Share functionality…
“Spoilers are okay. You can do everything.”
Will we see all the towns from Dragon Quest I?
“We’re making the terrain based on the map of Dragon Quest I, so naturally I would think you can go just about anywhere that was in the first game. As for how it holds up, I want you to check it for yourself.”
Are there buildings that weren’t in Dragon Quest I?
“There is a pyramid in the desert, and there’s a number of towers that you’ve never seen. We weren’t thinking about a complete reproduction of the first game. You can dig into mountains, discover caves, and find treasure chests, so I think we’ve made it into a game where it’s clear it’s a block-making RPG.”
Dragon Quest Builders will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on January 28.
Thanks, Hachima Kikou.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 details hero and monster color customization
Published 11 hours ago. 12 comments.

New monsters and characters also introduced.

Square Enix has released a new set of details and screenshots for Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 introducing the game’s color customization features, new monsters, and some of its important characters.
Get the information below.
■ Customize Your Hero
DQMJ3_01-20-16_001.jpg

In Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, it’s possible to change the appearance of the protagonist. ‘Changing your appearance’ is a special skill you’ll learn on your adventure, allowing you to change your look from what you decided at the beginning of the story.

Consider your own color coordination and become a “Fashion Master.”

DQMJ3_01-20-16_002.jpg

You can change the color of your hair, scarf, pants, gloves, and boots. You can choose from 12 colors for each section. These colors are also reflected in story scenes, as well as in the menu screen character artwork.

DQMJ3_01-20-16_003.jpg

■ Customize Your Monsters
Sure you can change the appearance of the protagonist, but you can also change the appearance of your monsters through a new “paint synthesis” element. This uses the game’s synthesis system to change the color of monsters. Through this, you can change the color of a monster’s body and its clothing without changing its stats and skills.

Monsters known as “Color Fondue” are the key to paint synthesis. Color Fondue monster White will tell you about his brothers who were captured by mysterious monsters.

DQMJ3_01-20-16_004.jpg

DQMJ3_01-20-16_005.jpg

As you come across the six brothers on your journey, you’ll be able to perform paint synthesis. Your monster’s color will vary based on the Color Fondue you synthesize it with.

According to Nintendo, Dragon Quest VII is “basically a brand new game.” All the writing is new, and no more random encounters, as you’ll see the enemies on the map. That said, we’ll probably get a different feel out of the game compared to what we got with Dragon Warrior VII back in 2001 on the PlayStation.

Additionally, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past will also have a story summary feature and StreetPass feature that lets you gain tablets. The presenter also mentioned that Dragon Quest VIII is releasing sometime this year, and that it’ll have a top-notch localization.

01. Walking Corpse

In Dragon Quest Builders, the “sweet breath” of the walking corpse tempts adventurers into a sleep, but for its Shinjuku experience, a sensor detects approaching commuters and sprays a sweet fragrance.

02. Ghost

A ghost that wears a witche’s hat. In Dragon Quest Builders, when it gets dark outside, the cute, but a somewhat eerie creature appears. For its Shinjuku experience, the ghost is invisible, but when you use the flash from a smartphone camera, the ghost emerges. This is done via a special printing technique called “Ninjaink.”

03. Dragonlord

The last boss of the original Dragon Quest. He is a huge dragon with a human form that planned to conquer the world. In Dragon Quest Builders, he gives you the option, “If you become my ally, half of the world is yours.” If you choose “Yes,” it’s game over. But for its Shinjuku experience, the Dragonlord says, “If you become my ally, half of Shinjuku is yours.” If you accept the Dragonlord’s offer, there is a QR code you can scan…
Two Monsters Updated

04. Slime

The mascot of the Dragon Quest series. Although the slime was already featured on a pillar poster in the Shinjuku station, this is a “soft slime” with a realistic texture that you can touch.

05. Metal Slime

A monster known to flee upon encounter, this is a slime made of special metal. It is famous in that defeating it rewards users with high experience points. Although the metal slime was laready featured on a pillar poster in the Shinjuku station, just as it does in the game, it appears to have ran away. Please, as there is a possibility it’s still nearby, by all means try searching for it.

Dragon Quest Builders released in Japan on January 28, and producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto spoke with Game Watch Impress about future possibilities for the game, should they decide to make more.

During the interview, Fujimoto is asked if Square Enix have plans to make other Dragon Quest Builders based on other titles from the series other than than the first one.

“First, we’d like to have you all play it, and I’m sure there will be all kinds of requests, and if there’s anything that we can make happen for the next one, we’d surely like to, but if Dragon Quest 1 alone is enough then we’ll just leave it at that,” said Fujimoto. “As for making the next one, I’d like to think about it after getting more feedback.”

He is then asked about possibly implementing multiplayer sometime in the future.

“As far as Dragon Quest Builders 1 goes, it is not possible,” responded Fujimoto. “But if there’s enough demand, I’ll put it into consideration for the next title.”

Dragon Quest Builders is currently available in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.

Through Wi-Fi Ranking Battles, monster masters all of the country can register the data of the monsters they’ve trained and battle against the monsters registered by other monster masters.

Two types of tournaments will be held everyday for a certain period of time. When the tournaments close, final rankings will be announced, and the next day tournaments will be held again. You can enter a tournament at any time.

Master GP

In Master GP tournaments, each monster master fights using the monsters they’re proudest of to earn the title of “strongest” player. There are no restrictions on the monsters allowed to participate.

Challenger GP

Unlike Master GP where every monster can participate, in this tournament, there are conditions for the monsters that can register. Under these conditions, you’ll need to form a party and take on the challenge strategically.

■ Wi-Fi Ranking Battles

You can participate in Wi-Fi Ranking Battles by obtaining a “Participation Ticket.” 10 Participation Tickets are distributed each week.

In Ranking Battles, you’ll battle against randomly selected monster masters (matched to your own strength) from across the country in a series of three matches. You can also personally select the “strength” of the monster masters you battle. The higher the strength of your opponent, the higher the amount of points you’ll receive in the rankings.
