The Return Of Barry Allen is still one of my favourite stories.

Yeah that was a great story, really awesome fight scenes.

Jay Garrick is da *&^%$#@*!!!!!
[blackout]I Loved him clocking the &^%$#@ out of Zoom When he had Wally's kids![/blackout]
only now i am torn between 2 Zooms. The Professor or Hunter!
They both are evil SOBs

But Barry is the creator of the speed force.
Yeah so, while Jay Garrick is the first Flash, Barry is pretty much the center of the Flash mythos, even after he died. Without Barry there wouldn't have been Wally.

Barry is the main speedster in Blackest Night.
Which makes sense considering that he was once dead and the event is about take a guess....the dead!

Barry is the new Flash of the JLA.
I would like Barry to be in the Justice League on account that he is now the head of the Flash franchise. Writers lately have developed the attitude that the Justice League should be filled with people like Hal Jordan and when they can't use them characters like John Stewart get the shaft in piss poor writing. The same thing would probably happen to Wally.

Wally is a lot more deserving of these credentials than Barry, in my mind.
Wally creating the Speed Force makes absolutely no sense and Wally being the main speedster in Blackest Night makes no sense either since he really hasn't had a "permanent" death like Hal Jordan and Barry Allen.

And both Wally and Barry are equally deserving of the Justice League. Although based on current characterizations, even before Barry came back, Barry would be more deserving on account that Wally has not been committed to the Justice League lately ever since Infinite Crisis.

:up::up:
Agreed. :woot:

Barry being the speed force is something I've thought would be cool for years. Except I thought he would've became the speed force after his death. But this is cool, and it makes perfect sense. Barry became the lightning bolt that hit himself in Crisis, running back thru time, the start of a chain of events, time is supposedly simultaneous, this explains Wally's Kid Flash costume change in the silver age, so it makes perfect sense to me that he is the speed force. Very cool. And you are right, if not for Barry there would be no Wally or Bart. Jay is a metahuman, not connected to the speed force. This also explains how Jay runs faster when he's with Barry (who is the speed force) or Wally (strongly connected to the speed force).

"a HUMAN THUNDERBOLT" = Barry's intepretation of himself being the speed force. Makes sense of stuff that's been there for years! Johns is a genius! He's done it again. :D

Jay is connected to the Speed Force now. Without it, he runs much slower but with it, he's at least able to keep up with Wally.

I don't really mind Barry creating the Speed Force in whatever weird way he did. The Speed Force as a concept has pretty much always been in flux, with various writers taking the core that Waid devised and adding their own bits onto it. I'm sure it's not really a big deal that Barry created the Speed Force if Wally and all the others can still access it and use their speed as normal. I'm sure Barry will pull ahead eventually now that the spotlight is back on him, but as of right now, Wally is still the best with the Speed Force and Mark Waid created the thing for Wally, so I take solace in that. :)

Besides the fact that it makes no sense it just seems like more of Johns trying to make Barry important/Better.

PS Since when does everyone mainline the Speed Force?/rhetorical

I freebase the speedforce myself.

Actually, Barry starting the speedforce sorta...eh...I dunno. I'm not sure if I like it or dislike it.

I -do- like Barry's return, honestly enough, but I'm not sure about him being like "THE SOURCE" I'll have to sleep on it a few more nights.

Dudez, if the primary complaint with this series is always going to be, "This makes Barry seem more important," we all might as well just give up now. Barry is the main DC Flash. Things are going to happen that make him look important. That's just the way it is.

Nah, I don't mind Barry being "THE MAN" just not sure about him being "THE SOURCE." I actually like Barry.

But since you said that, now I like Hal too. :o :traitor:

Exactly. We all knew Barry was gonna be made more important and the other speedsters were gonna get shafted. The extent of the shafting is debatable, but it's a natural consequence of Barry being raised above them all as the most important guy with super-speed who ever lived, ever. Expect everyone associated with Barry to be made more important by default as well. We're seeing that now in the GL-verse with Sinestro, Carol, et al. becoming the most important people in their respective corps the way Hal is the most important person in the GLC (and now BLC, it seems).

Although, what's this about everyone mainlining the Speed Force? It used to just be Wally who did that. Although, now it seems like everyone and their mother has been through the Speed Force and back or died and come back or both, so it's entirely possible that everyone's connection to the Speed Force is stronger because of that.

Nifty.

Was there an explanation for why Professor Zoom is using that silly-looking lightning staff thingy? Does it do anything or is it just a handy tool for slicing people up?

so i dont follow Flash (or much of DC for that matter) but....Bart's back? and he's a kid again? how? when? WHY?? is Wally still around?

Bart was restored to life and his pre-Flash age in Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds by a bunch of Lightning Lads, Lightning Lasses, Light Lass, 2 Brainiacs, and probably others I'm forgetting. Wally is still around.

i would comment....but whats the point.

remember in the nineties where Wally found out that Barry may not have been human anymore? That also goes in line with Barry being the speed force.

Well, it goes with Barry being connected to the Speed Force. Wally himself started turning into an energy being the more he interacted with the Speed Force during that time.

Nothing could ever put Barry in the place of the one and only true Flash.Just like nothing could ever put Hal in the place of the one and only true Green Lantern.

You mean beside the fact that everyone's been riffing off of Hal and Barry's gimmicks since they started?

You mean how Alan and Jay would pretty much be novelty characters had Hal and Barry not been created? They were pretty much collecting dust by 1955

Hal and Barry are "The one true" whatever you call it for the same reason why Bruce and Clark are "The one true" anything: There would probably be no franchise today had they not been created. People are just too bitter over the fact that Kyle and Wally arent the main players anymore to acknowledge it
