I'm from the Hal Jordan , Barry Allen, Ray Palmer, Arthur Curry era - so I'm glad to see my favourite Flash back. Regardless of what many of the Wally fans think (I like Wally too), Barry is a really intersting character and in the right hands should be a great character again.

Would be great if they could reform my favouriite incarnation of the JLA, now most of the characters are back (or coming back)

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnn f**k Barry Allen

Hal Jordan sucks

and the Silver age is balls.

The best work I've seen him do was in Hulk #14, where he's trying to do his best impression of Ed McGuinness' style instead of Jim Lee's, and even then Churchill's work still isn't that good (much better than usual, but not what I'd call great).

I really liked Churchill's art when he was aping off of McGuinness. I hate it when he's trying to rip off Mike Turner and Jim Lees' styles.

Churchill is Turner only more skinny and Benes is more Lee only overly muscular, they need to make the respective style's there own, not do bad rip off's of it.

Oh, very eloquent. Seriously the return of Barry Allen and Hal Jordan isn't the return of the silver age, just silver age characters in a modern world.

The simplistic silver age was an innocent time and i agree the stories were generally poor compared to more recent tales. It was unfortunate that many of these characters were replaced or killed just as the comics were entering the modern age - as they starting to appear in more complex and exciting stories.

As far as I'm concerned this isn't Barry v Wally - who is best, its the chance for a good character who maybe wasn't utilised as well as he could have been to get a new lease of life. Barry Allen is a good character who put in the right environments with the right stories will be exciting.

I'm not just a Barry Fanboy, I have every issue of Flash post COIE and have enjoyed Wally's evolution - but I'm glad Barry is back and think the character will prove a lot of the new fans(doubters)

''Early look at Francis Manupal's FLASH!''

He's not, the pics are of Wally. They're old sketches Manapul drew for a Flash pitch while he was working on Legion of Super-Heroes. I guess the blog dude figured they'd still be useful to create some buzz about Manapul's upcoming Flash run. I doubt he'll draw Barry very different; just the straight belt rather than the V and the boot fins.

Oh. That's good then. I'm really looking forward to this. I hope Manapul and Mahnke stay on the Flash and Green Lantern for a good long while with Johns.

Manapul seems like a good Flash artist. I'm interested to see how his painted style looks on the Flash. I always thought of the Flash as a character who demanded the hard lines and vibrant colors of standard comic art.

Seems we're from the same era then. First superhero comic I ever got given was Flash #323, little did I know what a classic issue that was, being that it was the one where Barry killed Zoom. Of course, that's not to say I havent a soft spot for Wally - I've been with him through the whole of his run until about 2 years ago, and in many respects he's actually become my Flash.

I'm ashamed to say that I havent bought a comic for about a year or so due to lack of £££, so I'm missing all this retro-love at the moment. :csad:

I'm a fan of silver/bronze age stories because it reminds me a simpler time even though I was born in post crisis world(I like most post crisis stories but my heart belongs to pre crisis stories). I love it when I saw the silver age characters and ideas in shows like The Batman, Batman Brave and the bold, Legion of superheroes, Smallville, etc. I know the stories are corny but it's fun in a way. I like Wally but my favorite speedsters are Barry and Bart Allen

:up::up:

I didn't grow up with them, but that's my lineup right there. And I love Barry Allen and Hal Jordan.

Barry gets Flash series, Wally gets cofeature, both written by Johns:

Sounds great to me, everyone should be happy now, although you can never please EVERY anal fanboy, this is good enough, IMO.

I'm more than glad that we're getting new Barry stories, I love that. And it's nice that we keep up with Wally too, even tho I think he's kinda in a corner with the wife and kids, cuz Wally was never supposed to be that, and his last stories really, really sucked. Even nicer that Johns is doing all this! :) To anyone complaing about Rebirth, would you rather be reading Wally and Power Pack? I'm glad we're getting an actual Flash book again finally. :D

Huh.

So...anyone who wants to read about Wally will have to pick up Barry's book.

:lips:

Well played, sir.

For now.

Damn. Kind of lame. Hopefully Wally gets bumped up to a full comic of his own eventually. But I was planning to read Barry's series anyway, so it's not a big deal.

Uh, yes. The fact that Waid couldn't write a good series about Wally and his kids doesn't mean it's impossible. Peyer was actually doing a pretty good job after that.

Maybe it's just me, but kinda of a sad situation. Guess it's better than nothing, but whatever. Maybe it'll be good

Are you gonna buy the series? You seemed to be really not into Barry at all.

I don't know for sure if I will buy it, but probably not. I don't hate him or anything, but I still don't really like what's going on even though most others seem to be warming up to it now. I won't say sure that I won't right now, though

The Wally co-feature is nice, though, I guess. That's the optimistic view I'll try to take anyway, and not the cynical view that it's the demotion that most bitter Wally fans were expecting.
