The Official Flash thread

I didn't say your opinion wasn't researched. That pertains to most the other posters here.

Fair enough.

I actually find it funny that your ego is so irked about what I said that you have to create an account on a different site and try to "justify" yourself to one poster. :lmao:
Yeah, well, it wasn't the dumbest thing I did on Monday. That would be hitting "publish" on the original post, instead of ripping out the rant, posting the news by itself, and saving the rant in a draft to revisit after I'd calmed down. Live and learn.

All I'm sayin is if you profess to run a site about The Flash you should probably read his book, which will be written by the industry's best writer at the moment. Bet you didn't stop reviewing Wally's last stories even tho they were complete ****.
Believe me, those implications haven't escaped me. What I wrote was half heat-of-the moment, half last-straw, but I'm giving serious thought to whether I should keep both or drop both.

Anyway, I'm out. Sorry, everyone, for intruding.

hey, dude. It's fine man. I've done stuff like that too. I still love your site and hope you will continue to run it, first place I always go for Flash news. :D

It's alright, man. Anyway, I feel like I owe you a welcome. So welcome to the hype. Hope to see you here again. :)

I know I shouldn't do this, but...

FWIW, it's not just that Barry's getting the limelight that has me pissed off. I've had a year and a half to get used to that. What really has me steamed is that DC announced ongoing stories starring Bart and Wally, then changed their minds and yanked that away.

I picked up Flash: Rebirth hoping that it would convince me to like the idea of new Barry stories. It hasn't. If it had, this news would have still been disappointing, but wouldn't have gotten me so angry.

Typically I tend to side with the Barry/Hal fans because I feel like the Wally/Kyle fans overdramatize way too much, but I gotta side with the Wally/Kyle fans on this one.

Announcing a Wally West co-feature in the Flash and then just yanking it is just harsh and outright insulting to Wally's fans. And even though I'm looking forward to Barry starring as the Flash, I consider myself more of a Wally fan because that's the Flash that I'm accustomed to reading and watched him on Justice League/Unlimited. So naturally I feel rather pissed about this too.

What I don't understand is why DC can't have both Wally and Barry in spotlight like they were going to before. It clear that us fanboys are divided evenly into those who like Barry and those who like Wally. So instead of pissing one group off why not just please both camps? I guarantee DC will get better sales if they do.

and he saved the world many times and lived through crossover events without getting his ass killed :ninja:

But Barry saved all the worlds...and came back. :awesome: AND he is the only Flash who has done anything that is of any major significance to the DCU (cofounding JLA, discovering the multiverse, sacraficing himself in crisis....how's that add up to your character's "in touch with the times" mullet and arrow that points to crotch (which was derived from BARRY's tv show suit - oh snap!)?)

Not only did he dress up in his uncles costume but he made it cooler:awesome:

Double burn. Want some ointment?

Also... history time.
Superman died came back about a year later
Hal Jordan died 96 came back as Spectre 99 and then came back as GL about 7-8 years later
Jean Grey died 1980 came back 86

Barry died 85 came back 2008 after 23 years

Hmmm seems like the fastest man alive was rather slow getting back up :ninja:

AS the old saying goes....maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan f*** Barry Allen

I am sure they are gonna give Wally and Bart a series after Barry's gets some out. Just like with Hal. i mean Kyle has his own book, I am sure Wally will. just be patient, worst case scenario, I gaurantee you it won't take 20 years.

....the last resort of a man with no logical argument (or a man at least unable to intelligently repersent one), the old eff you. Very good, you've really showed us. :waa::lmao:

......so you mean he is the only MAJOR COMICS CHARACTER (he is THE FLASH, you know) to have stayed dead for a signficant amount of time? You mean he's an iconic character who stayed dead longer than all the other iconic characters? Wow, yeah, I'd say that makes him pretty awesome.

Barry and Wally's costumes are basically the same but Wally's is cooler if only because the wings on the boots.... are kinda stupid. But Wally's new costume is definitely better than his old one.

By the way the pics I posted are the coolest pics I have ever seen for both characters

I like the wings if done right. I don't like them looking like "wings", I like them sharp and sleek looking, same with the ear pieces. And michael turner's flash's look pretty much identical...even the dip in the belt is less "arrow" ish and more symmetrical. I love the Identity crisis cover with barry and Hal he did.

^^ haha yeah they are pretty cool. I like the cover to rebirth #2 a lot, the shot of Barry (not the dead flashes in the back).

Well I was just kidding around not really making an actual argument so you can calm down about that. And an accusation of having a bad argument coming from the "Forensics is cool!" guy isnt saying be saying much

I think Wally's new costume is alright. I dont like the shade of red and I dont like how he doesnt have the actual Flash logo that all the other Flashes have (kind of like how Rayner didn't have the same GL logo)

I really like the lenses though. The belt is good and so is the fact that the logo is 3-D

No he doesn't :o

In a perfect world Green Lantern would have a Kyle Rayner co-feature and Green Lantern Corps would have a John Stewart co-feature.

Flip it around and that'd be my perfect world. And Kyle would still be Ion because that was a pretty cool costume. :)

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! I hope you all have save travels if you’re heading somewhere for the holidays.

Obviously, there have been some changes (among many) in DC’s approach to co-features and, in particular, the Flash universe that have raised questions and frustrations. Yes, THE FLASH will no longer have the Wally West co-feature. It’ll remain one of DC’s $2.99 books rather than $3.99 and Barry Allen will be the lead character. Yes, the plans for creating a book title KID FLASH have altered. (The creative team lined up never started on the book.) And, yes, it was a mistake to announce our plans before they were set in stone. Everyone was just excited about the Flash. No one wants to disappoint anyone. That’s not only bad business, it’s bad karma. So all that above? That’s the bad news.

But there is good news too. You will see the stories Scott Kolins and I have been working on. You will see Wally and Bart and everyone (Jesse will surprise a lot of people!). You will see the Flash universe grow organically. No one wants the Flash universe to achieve the same heights Green Lantern has more than me and the creative and editorial team working on it (and maybe the bean counters at DC! ). I'm also working hard on the movie. Despite what it looks like, the plans have grown for the Flash universe, although the rollout for things has changed. Imagine something more like how Green Lantern grew. The Flash universe is set for something VERY big in 2011 as well. It’ll take a bit more time to build (not too much), but in the long run I do believe the foundation will be stronger for it. I can’t get into specifics too much and I don’t want to until we literally have covers to show – which I’m sure will frustrate some people – but I don’t want to see anyone disappointed.

I am incredibly excited about the future of the Flash and I think when things are finally rolling in April, you all will be too.

I'll try and answer any questions I can when I can over the next few days.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!

Geoff
Think of it this way -- Wally will continue to do what he's always done, continue and build the Flash legacy, only in ways more insanely epic in scope and adventure than ever. Barry is the Flash who started the spark, Wally is the one who fans the fire.

PS - At the market with my Dad and our order is MIA for Xmas dinner. ANOTHER Johns - Steve Johns - took ours by mistake. True story.

I like that Wally Barry quote

But :wall: on the brief thing about the flash movie I'm looking forward to that more than the comics

I wonder what Johns has in store for 2011

I think Kyle would be a better fit in Green Lantern since more people read Green Lantern than Green Lantern Corps and he was once the main Green Lantern. It just seems more fitting to put him in the main Green Lantern because of his former position while John feels more like a regular member of the Corps.

Mm hmm.

...but I gave reasons for why they are cool. And they are. :woot:

Among other reasons, yeah. His sacrafice was another thing he contributed that was significant to the DCU. And having a major character stay dead for as long as he did is a pretty big thing. This is The Flash we're talking about, it is a big deal, and it is something that makes him great/stand out from the other major heroes.

They weren't supposed to be lenses exactly (from my understanding anyway) that was just how they drew his eyes.

Hmm. I think I'm just gonna forget about Barry's series after all. Not really out of spite, even. I'm just not that interested in Barry, and I'm trying to save money on comics anyway. Besides, if Johns is saying there are big things in store for the Flashes and the franchise's growth will parallel the GL franchise's, I imagine that'll mean a Wally series eventually. So I'll just save my $3 for that and content myself with other comics for the time being.
