I didn't think Acuna's work was that suited to the Flash, but I didn't think it was terrible.

We're apparently in the vocal minority of the vocal minority on this one.Well I love Acuna's artwork and love Wally's kids.
I'm obviously not in the online community.

No, I didn't particularly take a shine to that, no.Wally having hyperaged kids?
Come to think of it, that IS kind of a dumb name.batnkevlar said:The boy being named Jai, instead of, let's just say, Barry?
Kinda stupid.batnkevlar said:The kids being two different ages?
I appreciate Waid trying to be innovative with what the Speed Force can mean for someone, but not with the Flash's kids, OK?batnkevlar said:The boy having strength?
Where the hell is this "insane volume of hatred" coming from? I haven't seen it from any of the boards I visit. There's no more btching about the series than there is about any other. Quit being a tard and go back to writing this title, Waid!![]()
Who has been off the title since, like, four pages in.Newsarama. It was just one giant ***** fest when it came to Acuna.
He's been doing fine on Brave and the Bold, really, so...*shrug*Eh, it's a shame Waid is leaving but I don't mind it too much. As much as I love Waid's Wally, his stories just haven't been up to snuff this time. I don't think he's as terrible as, say, GAH, who's apparently offended by Waid's very name now, but I think Waid could probably do with a break to reassess whatever he needs to about superheroes.
I suspect DC wants the Flash to be as big as Green Lantern has become--something to expand the trinity to the quintet. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, GL, and Flash are generally regarded as DC's "big" franchises, so maybe Waid doesn't feel he's living up to that standard, even with those sales.Who has been off the title since, like, four pages in.
The series isn't selling that badly, either. Maybe not what one would expect a Waid series to sell, but within the top fifty is still pretty damn good. I suspect Waid might be one of those writers who for once don't pay attention to the sales charts but, damn, maybe he actually should.
That's basically where I'm at. I have my problems with the kids, as I mentioned above, but really, a guy like Waid should have been able to make me not care about that, because Wally West and the Flash are pretty important to me, and I want to enjoy their stories, and I certainly want to enjoy Mark Waid's writing. I think part of the problem was that it was just a little too much of a team book. Put out a Flash Family book under the Johnny DC label if you want to do something like that. I think that might do well with the childkids. Hell--I might even have enjoyed it, because it wouldn't have been in-continuity, it would have been just a fun kiddie book like the DCAU spinoffs always have been. But making the mainline Flash book into a family team book...well, it just wasn't what I was looking for. It's fine for Wally to have a family, but it's annoying to have them invade his adventures.Eh, it's a shame Waid is leaving but I don't mind it too much. Wally already made the world forget his secret identity though. He's years ahead of Spider-Man.
.Couldn't we maybe just see that in backup tales or something, then? I mean, I wanna read about the Flash, you know?Darthphere said:I like the kids though, and I like that he's training them. I mean, I did not want to see another Baby May situation.
