I just love the zoom sound effects when he flashes by!

Like the sounds of the booty's boopin' in your avatar....LOL

Did anyone listen to the EVS interview on Word Balloon?

I can't believe how annoyed I was at it - I was finding myself wanting to argue with them but being unable to was just making me more annoyed. They were so hypocritical in their own opinions.

Meh this is going to be poop :(

I was thinking of listening to it, but I think I'd have the same reaction. I mean, even on the best WordBalloon interviews, I disagree with a lot of what the creators are saying.

I swear, I was dreaming about Hal Jordan....that doesn't help does it?

I had a cooler dream than that a few days.... I was fighting with the JLA and Superman was getting hit with red sun energy, but another Superman with graying hair flew out and started beating the crap out of the villians that were mobbing Superman (Probably New Earth SUperman as opposed to Earth-2 or Kingdom come Superman.) I had to fly in to help Batman take on a large group of metahuman opponents, probably sent to overwhelm him. I apparently I had the same powers as my old V&V character (Super Strenght Speed, endurance, intelligence and flight) so I was able to turn the tide against a huge number of superhuman villains. Sometimes I have really cool dreams.

Mark Waid on Bart Allen becoming Impulse:

WELLS: Eventually, Impulse gave way to Kid Flash and Kid Flash, in turn, morphed into an adult Flash. Do you think those changes necessarily served Bart Allen well?

WAID: Nah. Listen, Geoff Johns and I made our peace about this. I love Geoff. Geoff's one of my best friends, and Geoff is an incredibly talented writer and is the only writer alive who loves these characters as much as I do. And I don't blame him for paving over the Impulse identity. The shoehorning of Impulse into Kid Flash was, as I understand it, not his idea. It was a wrongheaded edict passed down by an editor that never got the character and has made it his mission to purge DC of anything even remotely fun and lighthearted. But even as Kid Flash, he was still largely recognizable as Bart.

And then he became the Flash, and a more boneheaded move you couldn't have made with that character. Geoff and I fought against it, we fought like you wouldn't believe. Steve Wacker, who was slated to be the original editor, Geoff, me...we all fought the good fight, knowing beyond any shadow of a doubt that squeezing Bart into that costume would go against absolutely everything about that character. And we lost. We lost every step of the way. Ultimately, someone else's ego outweighed my opinion about what Bart would and wouldn't do, but that's how it often goes with corporate-owned heroes and is the price you pay dealing in them. Ask Keith Giffen sometime how many lectures he's had to endure about what Lobo "would and wouldn't do." So, in their infinite wisdom, DC Editorial made Bart The Flash, and that relaunch was one of the greatest critical failures in all of DC publishing history.

WELLS: Really?

WAID: In terms of sales they had on the first issue and the sales they posted by the fifth or sixth issues, it was just a crashing, crashing disaster. It was one of the most disastrous, embarrassing launches in DC history. And we were all " I'm not trying to sound all "I told you so," because it broke our hearts because we loved that character " but we warned them. We told them, "Don't do that, it won't work." Sure enough, six issues in, they realized they had a mess of a series they couldn't make work, no matter what. At that point, Dan DiDio called me up, a courtesy call, and said, "So we're going to kill Bart. I just thought I should let you know." My honest feeling at that point was like, "Dude, you killed Bart years ago." [mutual laughter] "That's so not Bart in that suit. I don't care. Everything in comics is cyclical. Bart'll be back eventually at some point anyway so, sure, go ahead and put the bullet through his head. I don't care." I figured Bart would be better off dead than misunderstood and mishandled.

From Lying in the Gutters directly, the Flash Companion ultimately.

Out of everything in that rather illuminating interview, this was the most surprising to me. It wasn't Geoff Johns' idea to make Kid Flash?

That was eye opening and Makes me have a **** ton more respect for Johns.

After the current Flash series was revealed, Didio swore up and down that what occured had been the plan all along, that Bart was never intended to be the Flash, that "the first Flash we saw was not going to be the Flash," nevermind the fact that the first Flash we saw was Jay Garrick and not Bart.

Not that anyone bought that moronic story, but this just blows it up. Didio directly lied to the fans.

At this pace, Jason Todd as Batman '09!
Christopher Kent IS Superboy.

Granted, I don't hate those too at all. They both have their places in the DCU, just not the two places mentioned above.

Yeah, he sucks. But at this point, does anyone really need another reason to hate DiDio? I'm sure everybody's got theirs by now, whether it was the idea of killing Nightwing, the character assassination of Batgirl, the unconditional support he gives to anything with the faintest Silver Age tinge, etc.

And people (specifically Doc) still want to argue with me when I say that Didio is far worse than Joey Q.

They both suck ass.

But only one of them murdered my favorite character from when I remember memories, so F that guy.

What Didio did to Aquaman is horrible Doc, I am with you.

Spider-Man always sucked anyway, now it's simply confirmed.

Yeah, as much crap that happened to spider-man the last couple of years, secret invasion is still great. there's hasnt been any catastrophes at marvel that match the size or scope of countdown. plus, bart, j'onn, ted, and kon-el are dead. connor's in a coma for what feels like eternity. wally is getting *****-slapped editorially.

So seriously, what does everyone think will become of Wally? In my opinion, he is by far and large the best Flash. I mean, I like Barry and all, but Wally is just the more interesting character. Wally's personality itself is unique in the DC universe, where Barry can be bland. Again, I like Barry, but Wally is an all around better character to base any kind of media on, comics, cartoons, movies, etc etc.
