I don't even read the Flash, but I happened to see this random post on another set of boards and was so amused I had to post it here too:

Really, Barry’s being brought back because the current creative folks behind the book like it that way. Every time they do this, the logic is flimsy, insulting, and honks off the internet, while the majority of fans resolutely do not care. And five years from now, you/me/everyone won’t either.

Realistically, they could get the same result and save a lot of time if they were just said “Why is Barry coiming back? Why?!? Because F*** you, that’s why.”

Best reason ever...the internet fans seem to think they have a larger voice than they actually have....Spider-Man isn't married, Barry Allen and Hal Jordan are back, and Batman is missing/dead....shut up and deal with it....or go sign an e-petition....because those always work

the only titles I read monthly are ASM, GL, GLC, and Flash and I'm ok with everything that's currently going on....I haven't read Batman RIP yet, but I hear its "different"....the only thing in comics that seriously ticked me off lately was Connor Kents death....

If you read ASM years ago, and read through OMD and actually enjoyed it, then you have no taste at all. Which is good for you, because it means you're able to enjoy things that are pure crap.
But it's bad for everyone else because you're one of the people who keeps buying and supporting utter crap like that, which means that the creators aren't forced to acknowledge the abomination they wrote and fix it.

As for the online petition thing, they could work except not enough people usually bother with them.
Here in Ontario Canada the provincial government reversed a decision they were in the midst of making regarding a bunch of ridiculous extra laws for young drivers because hundreds of thousands of Ontarians joined a Facebook group protesting the decision.
So they can work, people just usually assume they won't and don't bother.

No need to be insulting....people like different things...I did read ASM years ago and started reading again when 'Back in Black' started up and followed it all the way through to now....as far as I am concerned, there isn't anything to fix. If Spider-Man was introduced as a married character, the argument might have weight....but he wasn't. There was a Spider-Man before MJ and there continues to be one....and Ill continue to buy each issue of ASM until it something comes along that makes me want to stop

2. Online petitions just have no merit....you want to protest something....go picket outside Marvels offices or set something on fire

watch Springer or MTVs new jem 'Engaged and Underage'. Since when is getting married considered 'character development'....it sure as **** isn't that in real life...any 2 *******s can get married...it doesnt make you a better person or grant you maturity....I had no issue with Peter being married, but in the months leading to OMD/BND turned into having Aunt May and MJ crammed down our throats every single issue and it was getting tired...I like being able to read 3 issues or more of ASM without having to see Aunt May....so bring back MJ if it will really shut people up, but I don't need to see her all the frakkin' time

now having read Flash: Rebirth it seemed odd to have Savitar, of all characters, show up and get disintegrated....but I'm sure they'll explain it like bla bla bla....Speed Force....bla bla bla....and fixed...

It's a shame Savitar was killed off like such a chump. He was a much better evil speedster than the likes of Professor Zoom or Inertia.

1. If anyone has to have it explained to them why OMD is terrible then lack of taste is a foregone conclusion

2. I already gave an example of a time when an online petition got a government to change a planned piece of legislation, that's pretty bloody impressive. The only problem is the perception that they do nothing, which results in people not joining them and THEN they don't do anything. (Although, granted, they don't always work even with large numbers, I would assert that they often could but simply don't reach significant enough numbers to do so).

it is your OPINION that it is terrible....it is not a fact....maybe your just upset because Marvel wrecked your fantasty of "If I'm a nice enough guy, a hot redhead will love me" or maybe you just don't like it....people are still buying the title....3 times a month in fact....but we're off topic.....

Savitar did seem like a high level baddie.....I did like the second Zoom (Hunter Zolomon), he seemed out of his tree enough

Kind of OT: Who would you rather have in a Flash movie Wally or Barry

Wally West IMO is the one and only Flash . I don't know why DC feels the need to keep bringing Barry back from the dead only to kill him again later .

I believe so....he's made appearances via the cosmic treadmill, but it was never permanent

What if Wally West turned evil?


You guys were so gung-ho for Hal's legacy to be besmirched.


What if Wally's kids were killed by Zolomon. Wally goes bat**** crazy and then kills him. He then keeps it up and then becomes the Reverse Flash.


Would certainly be a dramatic story arc and would revitalize an otherwise stagnant character. I mean let's face it, Wally was marginalized long before Barry's return. Bart was the Flash for Pete's sake.


Anywho... how would you feel about that?
