Apparently Johns wants to do a Secret Origins for Flash....eh

He seems to like repeating himself maybe down the line he'll do Batman Rebirth and say that he wanted to get "killed" by Darkseid so he can travel in time and save the present or some ish. And then do a Batman: Secret Origins later.

Yeah, but people are buying everything he does and loving it, so it doesn't really matter if he's repeating himself. At least with Johns, most of it is actually fairly good. He has very few real bombs to me, just a lot of little nitpick-worthy things and a tendency to veer off in directions I couldn't care less about if I tried (like, for example, Superman: Secret Origin).

At least us Wally fans get Scott Kollins as the artist!

Oh, I missed that part. That is pretty awesome. Johns, Manapul, and Kolins make up a pretty amazing team for the Flash.

Barry gets Flash series, Wally gets cofeature, both written by Johns:

Sounds great to me, everyone should be happy now, although you can never please EVERY anal fanboy, this is good enough, IMO.

I'm more than glad that we're getting new Barry stories, I love that. And it's nice that we keep up with Wally too, even tho I think he's kinda in a corner with the wife and kids, cuz Wally was never supposed to be that, and his last stories really, really sucked. Even nicer that Johns is doing all this! :) To anyone complaing about Rebirth, would you rather be reading Wally and Power Pack? I'm glad we're getting an actual Flash book again finally. :D

I actually really enjoyed all the stuff between the last two crises, with Wally and his super-powered kids. Gave his story a new angle that I thought worked really well.

That being said, damn am I excited for Barry back. I don't know why, I'm in my early twenties and grew up with Wally, but I've always just preferred Barry as a character.

i want to see the wally redesign soooooo bad

The fact that Barry was the only nice person to Aquaman when Aquaman first came to the surface and was recognized as a superhero put Barry up a few notches in my book.

The fact that Barry inspired the coolest comic book character ever (Wally West)puts Barry up a few notches in my book. :D

Damn. Kind of lame. Hopefully Wally gets bumped up to a full comic of his own eventually. But I was planning to read Barry's series anyway, so it's not a big deal.

Uh, yes. The fact that Waid couldn't write a good series about Wally and his kids doesn't mean it's impossible. Peyer was actually doing a pretty good job after that.

Sure. I thought Waid's FF was pretty good, and he was actually on Incredibles for a while, which is kinda ironic I guess...

Peyer was OK. To me, the part of Wally's last run that was any good was when Alan Burnett started writing it. He was waaay better than Waid and Peyer, IMO. It felt more like a Flash book, Wally felt more like Wally than he'd been in years, he should've came on earlier (and Burnett's a Barry guy :hehe: ).

That said, is that really what you want out of a Flash book? The Incredibles? I mean, seriously. Thank God Barry is back. :woot:

^^ I always liked that Barry was all about justice. Looking back, it makes sense that he contributed the "Justice" part in the JLA team name.

I want to read about the characters I love, first and foremost. If said characters progress to the point that they have families, sure, I want to read about that as well. Again, it's not the underlying concept I (and, I suspect, many other Wally fans) had a problem with. It's the shoddy execution that put too much emphasis on the kids and gave us pretty unremarkable stories around the new family dynamic. I mean, back in Wally's heyday, he ran an interstellar race to save all of humankind against his childhood imaginary friend and dealt with his own fear of losing his humanity to the Speed Force when he discovered it. This time around we got vagina-faced squid monsters.

First look at Barry by Francis Manapul!

Great stuff, I love his work on Adventure Comics so this is pretty awesome.

The problem with Waid's run was that he wasn't enthusiastic at all about it and only did it as a favor to an editor and DC (Dan DiDio in particular) were essentially pushing him away. Which is a damn shame, I love Waid's Fantastic Four, but I prefer him at DC.

I pretty much agree with Corp that Peyer's run with the West family was pretty damn good. And it's a damn shame that he wasn't able to keep on going due to DC's mishandling of the Flash to the point where they had to revamp him Green Lantern style.

Don't get me wrong. I like Barry. I'm looking forward to Johns' new run on the Flash. But if I were in charge, I would have kept Barry dead. I'm trying not to look at this as someone who grew up with Wally as the Flash (Barry was dead before I was even born) and being biased, but Barry's death had significance. His death was the ultimate "heroes death" and Wally was the epitome of a sidekick replacing his mentor, surpassing him, and becoming his own man outside of his mentor's shadow. Something that Dick Grayson and Bucky will never do. The return of Barry, while I am enjoying it so far, does sorta tarnish that in which Barry's death now has less meaning and Wally is back in Barry's shadow.

I dunno...it looks like he's tripping or something.

In...all senses of that word.

:awesome:

I was never a fan of those wings on his boots, but Manapul's actual interpretation of Barry looks good.

Yea the wings on the boots always looked silly, but the art itself is great. I like Manapul

Im hoping they wont change Wally's codename,I mean it wont be confusing because of the costume change.Plus there has been at least two Flash's for awhile,so why not three?
I wish they would have kept Barry dead, dont get me wrong I like Barry, but Wally will always be my favorite!

I don't think there's been any talk of changing Wally's code name. He'll most likely remain "a Flash." Of course, Barry will be the Flash, but whatevs. I'm gonna miss Wally's costume quite a lot.

That picture is awesome! I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

I thought it looked nice when I first saw it but ever since I read BrainWilly's comment I can't look at it without noticing his back foot and thinking that it does look like he's falling or balancing himself on his toes.
