That's what I was asking, and if Jesse is back in the Johnny Quick ID, you can see some Liberty Belle in it as well, so, looks like she homaging both.

Really? Looks almost identical to Johnny Quick's costume to me. The only difference is that she's wearing yellow undies over her bare legs, as opposed to Johnny's red undies over yellow tights.

I'm thinking that's what happened because as they were Speeding out, if you will, she grabbed Jai and it seemed to kill her, but Jai seemed okay (he might have passed out, I don't remember) and then Jesse swooped and did something to her, and Boom!, Irey is Impulse.

I don't think Jai lost his powers. My reading of it was the Iris gave Jai all her West/Allen powers and Iris inherited Jesse's formula.

But the formula and the genetics and even getting struck by lightning are all just conduits to the Speed Force. Shouldn't matter how she gets her powers; they always come from the same source.

Well, I thought the reason everyone was Speeding out was because the Speed Force was ****ing up, and her grabbing Jai and passing out/dying stopped it. I assumed that meant he was cut off from the Speed Force, which meant he had lost his powers since that's where it comes from.

Of course, I've only read half the first issue of the entire series and am purely going on speculation without reading, so...

Well, Iris mentioned how because they were twins, they had to share a connection. So perhaps now she gave her West/Allen connection to Jai. Now she uses the formula to tap it.

I love Wally's new suit it looks like the suit from DCAU Justice League / JLU.

Everyone was worried, but for once the writters treated a beloved character right. This costume feels like Wally. I am very pleased that Barry recognizes Wally as being just as good a Flash as he of Jay is. The dark red really looks sharp with that gold trim.
As for Irey, I think she has potential to be a great character. I missed Impulse.
I think it is awsome of DC too for making her the new Impule instead of Jai. Women needed a stronger voice in comic books. Not too mention I could see her progress to be the Kindom Come Kid Flash.

Exactly. It pretty much is that earlier costume. Looked good back then, looks good now. Best redesign Van Sciver never came up with.

This series just seems to be getting worse and worse.

How the hell does Bart and Max get hit with a sonic boom after just out running one the page before and Barry narrating that as long as their feet are on the ground they can out run it!!

The only good thing in the issue was that Wally's new costume isn't a new costume.

It was pretty boring -- there's like twenty speedsters there (or less) and you're telling me they need the entire issue just to fail to defeat Zoom? -- and the art leads me to believe that Van Sciver has never actually seen anyone run before in his life.

On the other hand, I liked all the "moments" in the book. Like with Liberty Belle and Wally's new costume. And sweet baby Buffy, I'm glad what so many of us had been guessing for so long now has finally been confirmed, that the "retcon" was a just a plot twist all along.

so far the series has been pretty mediocre. johns is usually pretty great, but its not working so well here. its not great, but its not bad either. though, most people's complaints about how he's treated the characters seem rather unfounded to me. it might not be the best story, but i think its clear he's working to treat each character with great respect and reverence.

I was hoping for that a little myself. Just leave his costume the same but swap the gold lightning for silver. I like the dark red/silver color scheme.

No, it's not a new costume, it's a slight modification of a costume Wally wore in the '90s, as I and others have mentioned. It still looks good, though.

I think that's a good thing though. Assuming all the artist actually are aware of the difference(because there will be some artist who will color Wally as having the same flash red as barry plus eyes , just like the guys who portray a black firestorm as white). It shows he's still the flash and is not going the arsenal/nightwing route. Though quite frankly did they really need to give Wally a more badass version of the suit? I mean there's Barry and then there WALLY.

It works out well. Barry fans get Barry's classic costume, Wally fans get a vastly more awesome-looking Flash costume.

Kinda disappointed with this ish actually. Weird coming from me I know. Wally's "new" suit is nice tho...looks like JLU meets the old tv show suit.

I liked that it just sort of appeared on Wally and Barry's like "what the?!" and Wally's like, "Oh yeah, I gotta show you how to do that sometime." Glad to see Wally's back in the habit of Speed-Forcing up his costumes, as opposed to using Barry's old ring to shoot out a costume, which I always found a bit silly.
