They did that to some extent with the Golden Age Green Lantern and Flash and their wives. Alan looked like he was in his 30s because of the Starheart and Jay looked like he was in his 50s because of the Speed Force, whereas their wives were both pushing 80 or something like that. But they still managed to be happy.

Plus the Ian Karkull energies from All-Star Squadron annual #3, which also makes Kal-L's motivation in Infinite Crisis implausible as Lois wouldn't physically be past her 50's at the most when Infinite Crisis started. Flash's wife was exposed to those same energies.

Know of anywhere to read this?

You moderators rock. I learn something new everyday.
Thanks.

I don't know where to read it, actually. I remember picking it up from various comics, so it wasn't like an actual story arc, just something that sort of happened in the background. I think part of Alan's deal was in Kyle's Green Lantern series when he rescued his wife's soul from Neron after Underworld Unleashed and I think there were some references in Johns and Goyer's earlier JSA series, but it's been so long since I read all of that that I don't remember what was where for sure. Maybe someone else knows.

they delayed rebirth till march now? what the **** is that a damn joke?

Gee, you go away for one Christmas party, and news starts breaking fast and furious! So, a couple of days ago, DC rescheduled Flash: Rebirth #6 from January 27 to March 24. On Saturday, Ethan Van Sciver stopped by Comic Bloc to let fans know what was going on:

This March date is strange. The book will be finished this week. I think you’ll see it get bumped back to January in a few days. [Emphasis added.]

Damn

December 21, 2009
So…DC’s latest 20 Questions with Dan Didio video has some bad news for fans of the extended Flash family. He answered my question about the Flash and Kid Flash books, explaining that they’ve decided to go back to “the original game plan” and focus on a single Flash book starring Barry Allen.
Wally West’s backup stories, by Geoff Johns & Scott Kolins? “On hold.”
The Kid Flash book by Sterling Gates? “On hold.”
He goes on to say, “Your Flash fix will be Barry Allen, pure and simple, for 2010.”
Congratulations, Dan. You’ve just lost yourself a reader.
I’ve been hanging on through Flash: Rebirth hoping I would see something in it that would convince me that I might actually want to read stories with Barry Allen, but I just haven’t seen it. The announcement of backup features starring Wally West gave me something to look forward to. The Kid Flash book starring Bart Allen was something I wanted to read. The lead stories with Barry? I was hoping they’d grow on me.
But you know what? I just don’t care anymore.
Honestly, at this moment, I don’t care about reading the conclusion of Flash: Rebirth. I don’t care about the new series. I don’t care about the Secret Files. It’s even killing my enthusiasm for Blackest Night: The Flash, which I actually liked.

Dangling the Carrot

Barry’s fans have complained about DC “dangling the carrot” of Barry’s return for years and never delivering. You know why I didn’t want Barry to come back? Because I knew that if he did come back, his fans — both inside and outside of DC — wouldn’t be satisfied just to have him back. The DCU would have to be all Barry, all the time. Congratulations, BASHers! You got your wish!
So now DC has dangled the carrot for both Wally West’s and Bart Allen’s fans. We were promised a whole series starring Bart, and a backup feature starring Wally, but both of those projects are “on hold.”

Try it, You’ll Like it!

I’ve given DC a year and a half to make me care about stories starring Barry Allen instead of Wally West. Is that long enough? It’s longer than Bart was the Flash, certainly. And if DC hadn’t announced the Wally West backups and then yanked them away, I would have given them another 6 months. But at this point I have no interest in any new Flash stuff coming out in 2010.
After 4 years of being jerked around, enough is enough. I don’t feel like sticking around another year just in case a character I actually want to read might show up.
I’ll probably finish out the rest of Blackest Night: The Flash. Who knows? Maybe those issues will finally convince me. If they don’t, well…
With Flash as my last DC Universe book, DC may have to rely on Vertigo to get my money next year.

What the hell? I was okay with Barry being the main Flash since I figured I'd still get some Wally in the backups, but those are now canceled? I'm tempted to just forget about the upcoming Flash series now myself. That's messed up for all the Wally fans. :argh:

yup pretty messed up

Curse you DC! I had something to look forward to, The Flash just lost a faithful reader for 2010!

I am so glad that Barry fans aren't as narrow minded as Wally fans. At least they read Wally's book. :awesome:

I've read Rebirth and enjoyed Wally's scenes, I don't read Teen Titans anymore because I don't like the characters and I won't read Barry Allen stories for the same reason.

Why'd you even bother to read it when only a few posts up you said you and the Barry fans had to "endure" Wally?

Kevin Smith do you know how hypocritical you are being by calling other ppl close minded

I know I shouldn't do this, but...

Wow...what a bitter *****e. Barry fans had to endure how many years of Wally if they wanted to read Flash and this guy is POd about a book he hasn't even read because it isn't about "his" character. Too bad.

FWIW, it's not just that Barry's getting the limelight that has me pissed off. I've had a year and a half to get used to that. What really has me steamed is that DC announced ongoing stories starring Bart and Wally, then changed their minds and yanked that away.

I picked up Flash: Rebirth hoping that it would convince me to like the idea of new Barry stories. It hasn't. If it had, this news would have still been disappointing, but wouldn't have gotten me so angry.

I've actually kind of liked Barry in Blackest Night (although I'm pretty bored with that overall at this point) so I'm still planning to read the new Flash series, but this still bugs me. I mean, if you're gonna cancel Wally's backup to replace it with something else for the character and his (pretty enormous amount of) fans, that's one thing. But DiDio flat-out said that 2010 is "all Barry."

Flash: Rebirth has been a big dissappoitment, but his portrayal in Blackest Night started off good, but then the last couple issues went back to being all the characters going "He's Barry, and hes fabulous" which is the worst part of Rebirth.
