correct me if I'm wrong, but I've the one problem with The Flash Rebirth and to a lesser extent Blackest Night is Barry Allen's development as a character. Is that true? One story has so many loose ends to tie up, while the other's focus is a grander story with Green Lantern.

Or course, this can be debatable between purists, etc.

If that's the case, I just hope that the new Flash series can really boost up Barry's popularity in the DC Universe..

My only problem with The Flash: Rebirth is that it's simply an issue or two too long. I haven't found anything wrong with Blackest Night: The Flash.

Well according to this poll on Comic Book Resources Wally is more poplular

http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2007/10/01/top-100-dc-and-marvel-characters-master-list/

Its probably just because not many modern comic book readers know Barry very well yet.
Don't worry, once Barry's series is the only Flash series, Johns is writing it, and various people at DC keep telling everyone that it's good, the vast majority of those voters will flock to Barry's side and forget Wally ever existed.

Not me I won't even read Barry's series and I'd rather spend my money on Morrison's Batman & Robin. So no Flash for me until another Wally book comes along.

but what you're saying is nothing new in comic bookdom. i'm sure when Wally took over, the Barry fans vowed not to read Wally's stuff. samethign with when Kyle took over as GL over Hal. When Hal took over as GL AGAIN after Kyle.

it's one big vicious cycle. to be honest, I like Wally a lot but I do think Barry hasn't gotten a fair shot yet. it took at least 2 years before Hal Jordan got firmly established in the DC universe again. Mind you, I think Barry's return is a bit more rocky.

it's ironic since Morrison's Batman & Robin has Dick and Damian instead of Bruce or who ever's Robin.

It's just that I've been reading Rebirth and Blackest Night: The Flash and Barry just doesn't interest me as much as he used to. I went back and got a lot of silver age issues of The Flash when I first started reading Flash comics to see who this Barry Allen guy Wally always mentioned was. I really enjoyed those, but this new stuff just doesn't do anything for me, which is a surprise seeing how much I like Johns other work.

And that totally sucks IMO. Hopefully well get a new book for Wally.
We probably will eventually if they continue to follow the Green Lantern reboot's blueprint. Until then, Wally's most likely gonna play second-fiddle to Barry in Barry's book like John Stewart in Green Lantern. Which, of course, is great because that's done wonders for John.

The Blackest Night tie-ins are kind of bugging me because people keep coming up with new ways to destroy or "fix" the Black Lanterns. I mean, you're supposed to need Green Lantern energy and another Lantern's energy to sever the black rings' connections, right? In the Secret Six tie-in, they destroyed a bunch of Black Lanterns solely with GL energy. Then in Blackest Night: Flash, they restored BL Bart to normal by doing something with the Speed Force.

i'll agree with you on bart but didn't secret six use doc lights weapons. i took it it as two forms of intense light could do it, but they had to be extremely strong, other wise every one would just be running around with mag lights

The stuff that I've read of Barry, from The Flash Rebirth to Blackest Night, I just don't get a sense of his character.

Because he's dealing with the trauma with Professor Zoom and the time traveling plot, he's more serious. Plus, he has to deal with being gone for such a long time.

And when he does he speaks, he barks out orders or he's making inspirational speeches.

am i the only one?

That's why I'm hoping the The Flash series can really give me the Barry without all the burden that was placed on him in the previous two stories.

ok now that 6 has come out and zoom let slip

that one of wallys kids will ruin his life

who didn't see it coming.

though i do have to say i feel sorry for jai, he lost his powers, and wally doesn't seem to give a damn, the last shot of them all on the parade float looked like a real kick in the teeth

There was an announcement a little while ago (I think via the DC website's blog) that they were canceling a lot of the back-ups. Wally's Flash back-up was one of them.

It's not really that he let it "slip," he deliberately said it to **** with Wally. It might not actually be true.

So this last issue...pretty mellow. Doesn't really do anything the preceding issues didn't already.

If what that cave wall implies happens....... I am truly at a loss for words.

[BLACKOUT]"Zoom Corps"[/BLACKOUT]

I'm also afraid to ask...

Okay, here goes, what is it?

*Braces*
Okay, take a deep breath.

It is a cave painting depicting P. Zoom with lighting traveling from his chest to multiple silhouettes of runners in the same way that there was a painting of Barry with lighting traveling from him to the "Flash family" in an earlier issue.
