i wouldnt mind bart being the flash... but not just yet... i dont think its quite his time yet... as for the young Jay... cant be a clone... its been stated in TT that no one has successfully cloned a human during the past year... thats why the Brotherhood is running around stealing scientific stuff... so they can clone a new body for the Brain

The Rival had merged with the Speed Force, last I heard. He was pure energy and he looked like whomever he possessed. He was in Max Mercury's body and Max Mercury was dead and part of the Speed Force himself as of Infinite Crisis, so I doubt it's the Rival in Outsiders.

2. Take a look at this art preview from The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive (vol. 3) #3:

Is there a picture of the cover of issue 2?

One thing that I haven't quite understood as of yet...
If the Speed Force is really "gone," wouldn't that mean that nobody would be able to move within our timestream? As I understood it, all movement and motion came from the Speed Force, and the speedsters' powers simply came from having the ability to tap directly into the SF.

Maybe I'm wrong in that understanding, but if I'm right, then how could anyone still move or create any kind of motion (Zoom being the exception) if the Speed Force is truly gone?

The Speed Force as the Flashes know it is gone. Presumably that was somehow able to happen while movement in the universe continued. Maybe kinetic energy was shunted to a different part of the Source and there's just no longer a kinetic "field" like there is the Quantum Field, the Red bio-energy field, etc.

I suppose that theory is the best kind of explanation anyone can expect when you're told that the source of all motion is gone, but everyone is still moving.

Yeah, but you just have to take stuff like that in stride in comics. I've started to ignore any reasoning and just look at the end result, then work out an explanation for it that fills in the gaps.

Is Jay Garrick still old? If the speed force is gone, what keeps him from dropping dead?

^^^ he's a metahuman so he doesnt depend on the speedforce. and i think jay was deaged once.

anyway cover to number 2

Right I gathered the meta gene kept Jay at the speed of sound, lately it was explained that the speed force was keeping him young, but I guess he's aging regular now.

Could those question mark ppl be Wally and Linda?

Sure does look like 'em.

oh yeah the people are that arecovered up in question marks are not the same people you see on the othercover. the artist re drew them.

I try to stay optimistic about the new Flash, but every once in a while, for no apparent reason I get this horrible pain in my left testicle and while I'm curled up on the ground in a fetal position I can just barely hear the Flash TV series theme music over the sounds of my own voice screaming "You bastards! You blew it up! Damn you! Damn you all to HELLLLLLL!!!"

For some reason that cover is leading me to believe this "new" Flash is an amalgam of the other Flashes trapped in the Speed Force.:(

The first cover suggests Bart. The second suggests nothing.

How would that require more guts than making Bart the Flash?

Because Bart is young. Plus it's just a retread of Wally taking over for Barry.

All-Star Squadron Annual #3. Most of the JSA absorbed magical energies in a battle against Ian Karkull that slowed their aging to an incredibly slow rate. Physically, they're around 50 tops.

That annual is also part of why Infinite Crisis contridicts Pre-Crisis continunity, as Lois Lane was there with Kal-L and absorbed those same energies. She shouldn't have been any older than 55 or so physically. Instead they drew her so she looked like she was 1,558,009,763 years old.

I'm sure Danny D. Dolt would say a SBP retcon punch negated that annual if anyone at the ****ehouse of Ideas actually ever read it.
