i would be so down with jensen ackles as barry or hal i think he could fit both wonderfully. Love his work on supernatural.
replace barry for your wally thought. Its so much easier to stick with barry being the first flash for a film. Have him dating iris and she talks about her nephew wally who we could see in the film and maybe he could be at the scene of the accident and then leave it open that he also gained speed powers but they are slow to show up to leave it open for him to be a flash later. Much better then reworking origins to wally/bart/etc... This comic films are so much better when they stay more faithful to the source material.

That's the main reason I would prefer to see Wally, because everything about Barry discovering his powers etc., we've already seen; not just on the TV show but in other superhero movies as well. It'll be easier but that doesnt mean its best. I think you could totally start with Wally becoming the new Flash including the history of Barry. I think it would be far more interesting and bring a different dynamic not yet seen in comic book movies. I think not bringing in that freshness will make it run of the mill, not necessarily bad, but just be Iron Man with super speed essentially.
i think DC and WB are working together so that both the movies and comics can be coordinated in a similar fashion.
The Flash has a new writer, and it's Dan Mazeau!
----------------------------------
IESB: How does Dan Mazaus new draft of The Flash compare to previous drafts developed in the past?
Chuck Roven: You know, the problem... Its not only a problem, I cant really give you any information about The Flash. I cant even confirm that Dan is on it. What Im saying is, probably for about the last six months or so, the decision was made to really kind of, unless there was a DC character project that was ready to be green lit, to just not talk about it. So theres nothing really that I can talk about at the moment.

Ezpecially with Rebirth coming down the pike (and Morrisson's involvment), if a Flash movie suddenly starts to take off, I won't be surprised if Rebirth doesn't have something to do with it.

While that is interesting and ht work, I strongly believe that it will work best with Barry already established with at least one film. Introducing the audience to one Flash will be hard enough let alone two or three of them, in the first film. I think new audiences will be confused with The Flash's identity with so many of them being crammed into one movie. Plus you have Wally's hokey origin to deal with. I know Waid tried to make sense of it back in the day, but it still comes off as a lame rip-off of Barry's (no offense to Wally) and would never work on screen. Besides, it would be unwise to capitalize on Barry's CSI job when "CSI" and related jobs are such a hot topic - there isn't any other superhero who has that job. Just saying.![]()
