I'm not advocating that they only have Barry in the movie for 5 minutes just to kill him off. I think that they should have a substantial opening action scene with both him and Wally as a team, and then show him on his own during the first act. If they could do it the way I wanted, Barry wouldn't actually die until at least 20 minutes into the film, at the end of Act 1. Act 2 would be Wally deciding to put on the suit and emerging as "the new Flash," and act 3 would be him being tested and being triumphant in his new position as a full-time hero. That's still a whole first act of Barry plus flashbacks, which should provide ample time to show who he is.
I will admit though, the primary reason why I don't like the idea of doing a "Barry trilogy" followed by a "Wally trilogy" is because it would probably be at least 12 years from now before Wally gets his chance in the lime light, and IMO that's too long of a wait.
