We all know Superman has a son and that WB will most ikely greenlight a sequel we need to start discussing what will happen to Supermans son in the sequel and what his place will be....

there are so many different question to discuss?

- Should he die?
- Will he find out Clark is his father?
-Will he learn that Clark is his father?
- Will Rihcard find out of his powers, his true father?
- Will he loose his powers?
- Will he save his father or take up after him?

and so much more, since there are always threads about him this should be the central one for now.

No. He's no Jar Jar.

- Will he find out Clark is his father?

Well, he threw a piano across a room, and there's only one other guy around capable of that, so unless one of his many afflictions at this stage happens to be mental ******ation, I'd say he'd find out eventually.

- Will Rihcard find out of his powers, his true father?

Unless HE'S suffering from mental ******ation, he'd find out eventually too. It'd be fun seeing Lois trying to hide it, that's a fact, and once Richard finds out he's not the dad that should have some interesting repercussions.

- Will he loose his powers?

I don't think Jason has powers per se at this point anyway - I think what happened aboard the Gertrude was probably some kind of adrenaline-induced spurt. If he does power up, he's probably more likely to be like Clark in Byrne's reboot story (doesn't develop 'fully' until he hits his teens)

- Will he save his father or take up after him?

I prefer to think Jason would take over the mantle after Clark dies, hopefully in a bout with Doomsday, so that there isn't any need to resurrect Clark and thus let the whole messianic element of the character everybody spouts about so much rest for a while.

I don't think they can actually kill him....And Singer probably won't do that anyway.

I think he should find out who his real dad is and all. And so should Richard, and I can't wait to see how that will be handled.

Lois realized that she does need Superman at the end of the film....For herself, and for their kid. So, we'll see them come together I suppose and the kid will be a big part of that, being in the center of the whole mess. His powers shouldn't really ''activate'' until he's a teen, though. I don't want to see him throwing things around. Maybe doing something inside the house, you know, doing things a kid shouldn't be able to do (i.e. ligting his bed, something like that) and Richard realizing what he probably has known for some time now.

By now we know Kryptonians and Terrans (sounds better than Earthlings) can reproduce. However, what we will learn is their offspring has a fatal genetic flaw.

Superman, in a race against time to save his son, plunders the Phantom zone seeking the one scientist who may have the cure, Brainiac! And in the process has a major conflict with a familiar Kryptonian bad ass that threatens the security and safety of the planet earth. Seems Zod wants the grandson of Jorel to perish along with Kal-el.

No, the kid doesn't exhibit too much more of his powers in the plot. In fact, we won't see him much at all.

The plot would have subtle undertones of the current political issue of stem cell research - a tip of the hat to Chris Reeve who championed the issue.

Big fight scenes, including one scene where Superman has the cure for his son in hand, only to lose it as he's dragged away by Zod.

Look for a climatic ending involving Brainiac that sets up the next sequal.

OK! I know I ignored canon and continuity, but so has every supes incarnation.

Its guranteed if Zod is the villain than Jason will be kidnapped if he learns that he is Superman;s son becuase he has sweared vemeance on the house of el..

predictable plot

Did Zod really sweared vemeance? That sounds bad. Is that anything like a pap smear?

I really want to see what direction the story will go now, With both Lois Lane & Superman/Clark Kent now knowing Jason is their son.

Not to mention Lex Luthor knows The kid is sups son .

It should be intresting .

I quite like your ideas. You've worked within the structure (or total mess, depending on your view) of what was in the first SR movie.

I think Jason was an interesting - but, ultimately, a very bad - idea for the movie. What you did with that idea makes it interesting for a second movie.

But what is the ultimate fate of the kid? Does he die of his fatal genetic flaw? Would they dare kill a child in a mainstream Hollywood movie?

- Should he die? No, but badly threatened in the sequel (Zod/Brainiac/Lex/Darksied).
- Will he find out Clark is his father? YES
-Will he learn that Clark is his father? In the sequel, to save his Dad.
- Will Richard find out of his powers, his true father? I bet. But he will still raise Jason (ala Jonathon Kent)
- Will he loose his powers? No, I bet they'll grow.
- Will he save his father or take up after him? I'd bet $$, that Supes will nearly die and Jason saves him....

This is the sadest of all threads. The future of the Superman franchise is dependant on a kid that almost everyone hates.

Is this the direction anyone really wants? I can't imagine it is.

He's the new JarJar Binks.

I didn't hate the kid personally. I hated the whole idea of a kid, the direction it took the story and the obvious direction of any potential sequels. It was just another bad idea in a bland unimaginative film.

Jar Jar Binks on the other hand is the devil.

No way dude...Jar Jar was stereotypical (even the walk), insulting, and way NOT STAR WARS. Jar jar was used as a tool for ILM/Lucas to make some $$. Thank GOD Lucas woke up.

It was just a matter of time before Kal-El found a way to have an offspring...Even the cartoons explored it in recent years (Superman gets poisoned by a creature that makes him hiluncinate that he's still on Krypton and has a FAMILY).

I hope we get to see Jason's character explored in the sequel.

Actually this might not be a bad idea for another one of these 'DCAU wannabe' cartoons - it could be Capizzi's answer to "Superman Beyond".
