mike carey on gambit:
Gambit *is* mainly a supporting character, but there's a compelling reason why it has to be him who's doing the supporting, and he does get some character beats - especially in #214.

I think Gambit is a very cool character, and I love his tortuous backstory - particularly because we still don't really know who he is or where he came from. Paradoxically, I think I've tended to enjoy him more in his own book than in the X-Men, where he's frequently under-used or used in a narrow range of ways.

...because of how the story mechanics play out, it's not likely that Rogue and Magneto will meet on-panel. Each arc of Legacy takes Xavier to a new location and has him interacting with a different group of characters, so 2008 won't see many meetings between the other members of the book's cast. 2009, though - - that's something else entirely.

i would like to see rogue and magneto meet up with each other again. cool to see what would happen between the two.

i find it funny that carey admits that gambit is an under used character and yet he is only a supporting character in legacy ( even though there's a "Reason" to that)
doubt that the cajun will get his own series back

Gambit will be appearing on the last page of legacy 211 next week. I won't spoil it, but I will say things look good so far.

Wow, you made a post, and you weren't crying. That's... incredible.

I like that art.

Spoilered for those people who don't peek at these sorts of things:

I didn't get a lot of details, but I do know that he's supposed to make a triumphant return as the cavalry arriving just in time. I don't know under what circumstances or to who's rescue though.

some more gambit pics from 212. i cant tell if the guy in the first pic is gambit or not. gonna go with not.

Its a flashback to when she was actually on the team. Might be right around the time of the twelve. But yeah, Marrow stands out a bit.

I know that. Still, they should've ignored her if just for the principle.

It's ok to not give a crap about C & D-listers, Mike. Seriously.

Gambit looks awesome in those pics. :D Can't wait.

Gotta remember that Gambit's got a connection to Marrow, though, so there's a small chance it'll be relevant.

Not saying I expect it to be, though.

Fine, lemme rephrase: Less said about Marrow, the better.

Surely all of us except OutcryX can agree on that, right?

I'm disappointed we never got to see Marrow find out about gambit and the Marauders. She had a bit of hero-worship towards him back in the day. I always wanted to see what would happen.

I liked Marrow myself. I loved how she stood up to Wolverine like that. I liked her sass. :D

I think some of it is, but not all. The flashbacks look like someone else.

Angst.

Angst.

More angst. But from a C lister.

Marrow was never really the angsty type. She'd me more likely to try and shove a bone spike through his neck than whine about mistakes and betrayal.

Looks to be a flashback to when Charly disbanded the X-Men just before the Twelve.

And yeah, first pic guy is definitely Gambit.
