I just saw Gambit's debut episode of the new wolverine and the x-men cartoon. It was in spanish so i didn't catch any of the dialogue, but just from the action, i was pretty pleased with what they did with the character. It was basically a Wolverine and Gambit team-up and even though wolverine nearly always came out on top, Gambit still managed to kick some ass and show what he's made of.

I feel confident saying Carey couldn't write a Gambit this good in his dreams and I have no idea what anyone was saying the entire episode!

I like what I've heard about it. Shame he's not a regular character, but you can't have everything.

I can translate for you if you like. Spanish and romanian are both latin languages and I can understand most of it. :) Not a lot of interesting stuff was said. There was a recurring gag of the Thieves Rules.

Wolverine: Who hired you?
Gambit: Rule number 1. A thief never betrays his client.
Wolverine: You do know your client hunts mutants yeah?
Gambit: Yeah.
Wolverine: So what's the difference between betraying your client and betraying your fellow mutants for a little bit of cash.
Gambit: Nonono. I betrayed my fellow mutants for A LOT of cash.

Wolverine: So where did your client go?
Gambit: For some reason you seem to think I might know that.
Wolverine: Rule number 2. Always know your client.

Gambit: Beautiful isn't she? If it wasn't for the Third rule that prevents us from...
Wolverine: Shut up! (or something to that effect).

Hahah X-men in Spanish is funny. When will they show this cartoon in english!?

I wish I knew... I'd be there for my Gambit fix.....

I'll wait until the English language version is on the go. Can't wait.

We know he has another appearance coming up soon. Back when they were still working on the show, they said they had animated the first season and that Gambit had two episodes he appeared in. i'm guessing the second one is the season finale.

Fun fact: The release of the cartoon in North America was deliberately delayed so it would coincide with the release of the Wolverine movie next year. I have no idea if that could mean an increased presence in the second season for gambit.

That would seem likely. There's always a surge in comics when a certain character has a movie coming out. The black suit Spidey for Spider-man 3, the X-men movie comics etc. It's possible they expect more people to be asking for him.

It really depends on Gambit's role in the film.

If he does, in fact, get some screen time, it could easily lead to more comic appearances (note that he's supposed to pop up again in Legacy sometime in '09, my money says Mayish), and more TV time.

But if he's only getting a few minutes, as has been rumored... Well, not so much on all the rest.

I cetainly hope that when the movie comes out Gambit will at least get to be on more T-shirts. Do you know how hard it is to find one with just him on it? :p

I'm not sure what to expect from the films to be honest; Jackman seems to be enthusiastic about the character, but only after he saw the reception after they finished filming. Kitsch was on set for a decent amount of time, but that can easily amount to nothing as we saw with "psylocke" in X3. He's had some staff training and accent coaching, but we've seen and heard of only one scene so far.

It's impossible to call it until we get some new info.

I would be happy to have a comic book picture for my T-shirt, it doesn't have to be Taylor. :p

Probably. I haven't seen much Venom apparel these days though I thought there were some shirts around when SPM3 was coming out just because he was in it.

Gambit needs to get his trench coat back, he looks weird without it and in a muscle shirt in Legacy, where is he going to put all his cards in a muscle shirt?

He can charge more than just cards. ;) He can make do with what is around him.

Hmmm...

"Watch out, those buttons are gonna explode!"

I suddenly get the feeling you have a fanfic where he ends up having to use his clothes in place of the cards.:o
LOL, my Gambit is rather fond of ball bearings. They are small and heavier which means they will travel much farther than playing cards. He has also charged a metal table, rocks, and a piece of rope, destroying the hand of his assailant. All around a creative fellow. :p

I remember him throwing charged nuts and bolts at a Sentinel in the old cartoon series. It was the episode when they escaped the Mutant prison on Genosha.

The character didn't use cards in his first appearance. They were added later.

And he charged things with his eyes, which was kinda freaky. :)

He used spikes didn't he? He also charged a piece of gum and spat it in some dudes face. Now that is bad ass.
