I don't know why, but Marvel has released these two images in tandem with the Weapon X First Class book. I am not sure what role Remy is to play in it, but the art sure looks nice. :)

That second pic is the girliest image of Gambit i've ever seen. And that includes the female gambit pics from a few weeks ago.

I wonder if he was inspired by Ramos...

But really... if Gambit had met Logan as a teen... wouldn't Gambit have remembered it even if Logan did not? That's the trouble with these kind of stories......

someone already read it. doesnt seem worth reading or buying since it doesnt affect their history at all.
[BLACKOUT]Basically Remy is like 14/15 i would say and he has been given a job by the guild to steal the diary of Nathaniel Essex from the weapon X facility. the start is a little amusing as it is snowing and as you can see he has no coat... so he says to himself something along the lines of "Remind me to get me a coat when I get back... something long and stylish"...!!! So he breaks into the facility and is a little stunned when he sees all the 'failed experiments' and he stumbles backward knocking over aload of equipment which in turn alerts the guards. However the gueards persuit of teen Remy is halted when an alarm sounds that Weapon X ( Wolvie ) has escaped and the guards focus on that and REmy has a lucky escape. but fails to steal the diary. He doesn't even get a slap on the wrist for not delivering. [/BLACKOUT]

The trouble with that is....
...are they seriously trying to say that Remy was there when Logan had his big break out? Don't they realize that 616 time wise that's 20 years ago? I mean Logan had all that time with Alpha Flight and all that after he got out of the program. Too much time has passed, Remy is simply not that old. *sigh*

It's not that far-fetched. Assuming the Weapon X thing was 20 years ago, that places Gambit at roughly 35 in the present day; which is only a few years older than previously thought.

So, uh, his purpose in the story is what? A few more sales on the opening book?

I hate what Gambit has become.

I dunno, judging by the Weapon X original trade, I'd say Wolverine was converted say... in the 60's or so? Gambit might not even have been born yet, nevermind running around pulling jobs... :p

Thanks for the links to the pics Squeekness. Though the 2nd one is like Canemacer said. Girly. It reminds me of a word I came across in another thread on these boards. Bishonen (I think that was it). An anime phenomena involving guys drawn as pretty girls (though and anime's are often weird and thus part of their charm).

Wolverine does look like he's gonna pop an eye soon.... or pop something at least. :oldrazz:

P.S. As for time and continuity. Peter Parker is in his teens or early twenties (again).

I think Gambit is scheduled to return in Legacy. Dunno about anywhere else.

Plus, we haven't talked about Ol' Gumbo in so long I had to search for this thread.

He hasn't been around much for us to talk about. The Legacy issue he's planned to be in won't be out for a coupla months or so. :(

Gambit's all too brief appearance in X-Men Noir for anyone intersted. I hope he shows up more later on...

That seems interesting, what is this X-men noir about?

It's an alternate reality book, taking place in the 20's or 30's or so. Nobody has powers. The X-men come from a reform school run by Xavier. Magneto runs the police but they are crooked. The book starts out with the death of Jean Grey and a rookie "brotherhood" cop who is trying to solve it. The Xs are almost all semi-criminals. So far it's kind acool, though I sometimes struggle to know who is who. :p It's only in one issue so far.

I'm just not a fan of using known character's names to conjure up a mediocre story set in an alternate universe.

No, bad usage would be New Exiles wher he's Gambit in name only, with none of his normal attributes. At least here, Remy runs a well known gambling place and he's one step on the side of sleezy. That isn't really out of character at all.

I never really fancied the idea of X-men noir. All the noir versions sounded like bad knock offs of whatever films the writers grew up with.

Gotta say though that I don't think the art is that great here. Not in terms of skill as such, more how they've depicted the characters. Gambit when he looks side on looks like he's related to Adrian Brody from The Pianist.

LOL, I had thought that too. There is a bit of resemblance. :p Maybe the artist used Brody as a model.
