I'm playing through the 1st one now. making slow progress, but the story is interesting.

so, realistically, do you need to play Gears 1-3 before starting Gears 4? Is 4 a good staring point for a newbie, since it's the start of a new series in the franchise?

I played a bit of Gears 1 last night. but I'm debating if I just do Gears 4 instead and try to finish that before Gears 5 launches in September. Don't know if I will be able to play and finish all 4 games before Gears 5 comes out.

I would play through all 3 games on casual difficulty just for the story. It’s very easy and each game should take you between 5-7 hours I believe. Not difficult to complete before Gears 5. There’s also Gears Judgment which isn’t as good but you might want for the additional lore. Also if you get stuck on any checkpoints I can get you through them.

Good point. YouTube full playthroughs are another alternative if someone can’t be bothered to play.

I like seeing cutscenes edited together like a movie besides watching some walkthroughs and especially for games I can't play even if I want to like from PS4 and Switch

I love doing that. Haven’t had time in recent years but I went back and watched many entire game cutscenes like that.

It’s a prequel to the 3 games but has a couple of chapters that also run concurrently with Gears 3.

the blood omen in the middle of the screen as u take damage is too BIG that needs to go asap

Judgment was good in concept but they butchered the MP by making it Cog vs Cog never recovered from that news IMO

Yeah, I’m glad to have seen the story, and Overrun was a nice addition. But it’s obviously the weakest Gears title by miles.

Good thx and I was in the tech test over the weekend the game is great but some button layout changes were a little jarring like why make the chainsaw the RB button now I left kills on the table flanking and using the B button all I did was slap them lol

I enjoyed king of the hill. Arcade mode wasn’t really my thing. Yeah I made that mistake too. Seems like a random change after all this time. Maybe there is a good reason for it but it’s annoying at the moment!

There’s 3 of us who are regulars and the other 2 often have people who can join to make up the numbers. Will be great if you want to play with us too.

we got caught up chasing credits last game and Horde was the only option for that so they got stuck in that I'm from the first game no skins just the original delta squad infact that is all I used is vs Marcus, Dom or Cole F Baird lol

That would be difficult in Gears 1 unless you happened to wind up in a match full of new/weak players. I don't mind them trying Arcade to try and expand the player base and get people to gradually transition into the rest of the game. I just won't be putting much time into it myself.

I played a ****load of Horde in Gears 2. But now I play more multiplayer than Horde. I like both though.

We play KOTH the most by far, although I like Guardian a lot too.

it took me a while to get used to KOTH since I was always an execution player so I valued my life in KOTH you have to be a little reckless so lol I had to get used to risking my life in order to capture a ring but with randoms it's a toss up I suicide to stop an opponents ring then to see my team is just farming kills and not actually going for the objective so hence my love and hate with KOTH but hopefully you guys don't play like that lol

I enjoy the other modes but find they encourage camping which isn’t something I enjoy at all, even if I win using it. I love the all out action of KOTH with both teams focusing on one small area. I go straight for the hill every time while my buddies try and secure the power weapons. I don’t really care about how many kills or deaths I have, just trying to win each game.
