They could set the premise for John as a former soldier who is tired of war and is looking to follow his boy hood dream as an architect only to be pulled in the forefront of the biggest galactic war in the universe. Could work.

That would be cool and UNIQUE. Right now, GL doesn't have much separating him from other superheroes. Everyone is saying he's a Tony Stark ripoff. Going the ex-soldier route woulda' made him stick out, plus it's a good african american role.

I'm reacting to some reviews that have said transitional scenes don't work and some stuff seems missing.

Which is a sign that the problem is with what's there, not what isn't.....for any movie, really. Now...if they somehow approached the story in a way that it needs long transitional scenes that bog down the pacing (which is almost always why scenes are cut) to make sense...then there are some big problems with it that including those scenes won't cure.

It's laughable how some of you guys pour over the trailers and spots, spend weeks dissecting them and then are surprised when the movie holds no magic for you once you go see the actual movie.

Delay gratification, stop being such crackheads about these movies.

You know what is laughable? It's you continuously being a tool by talking down to a friggin' movie that you haven't even seen yet.

Oh guys, we all need to calm down a bit. I hope the film is enjoyable at least, but I think alot of us are pissed that this wasn't a better quality film. They had plenty of time to work on this. Really this is the type of film that people should be thinking is the next great franchise for WB, and not some also ran.

On the other hand, we all could lighten up a bit. It could be worse. Just ask any Vancouver Canucks fan.

Movies are never ruined for me by dissecting every trailer, spot & piece of info I can get my hands on. It all comes down to how good the film turns out & keeping up with everything is part of the experience for me. I dissected LOTR & TDK to death & look where that got me. Really missed out on some movie magic!

I love the spill crew. Listening to it now.
THey basically say that its not terrible but not good. It's not memorable at all

At least the Canucks get to try again next season, though. :O

Exactly. Let's all just take a deep breath.

It didn't work.

:oldrazz:

In all seriousness...I feel bad for GL fans, but probably best to just go into it wanting to enjoy it, and taking from it what you want. If some end up liking it...that's all that really matters in the short term.

Listening to a review. Most frustrating thing I heard was how the scene with like 10,000 GL's going crazy shooting light into the sky and then you never see them again...

Well fellows the first 100 reviews are in on RT, 78 negative and only 22 positive. It is safe to say this movie is a train wreck critically.

Let`s just hope Cap is better cause the plus sized lady has sung on this movie, it is now in the same league as Jonah Hex and Ghost Rider in the critical department.

So what was the whole point of Sinestro meeting with them and giving his speech to rally them against Parallax? That doesn't make any sense. The next baby I see, I'm gonna punch it.

I'd imagine that the Green Lantern fans must be pretty ticked by the bad reviews. I really dont know much about GL, so I'm still curious.

WB is going to blame the lack of success on Comic-Con...

They need to blame it on themselves. What is needed is a statement saying 'Yeah, we ****ed up', I dare say it'd more appreciated than trying to spin things.

Really I got into GL in preperation for this movie

Im more worried about how this will potentially affect the other DC films Ive been dying to see since I was a kid.

Indeed. XFC was more breezy fun, but I think Super 8 may be the better movie. It's hard to gauge. But they're both two truly good movies released as summer blockbusters. So refreshing.

Super 8 was a FAAAAAAAAAAR better movie on all accounts

It's certainly not going to help their plight.

Exactly. Marvel has been dishing out these great films, Iron-Man, Thor, Capt America, X-Men, etc... and they have avengers right around the corner...

WB has Batman and Superman. Those two will always be there, but this movie was a huge set up for other movies like Flash, etc... and even a lead up to JL.

How sad, I like DC more than Marvel too
