You know, I'm surprised at how many wild cards there have been in this event and how un-cookie cutter it has been.
How very "comic book guy" of you....This is what bothers me about some fans...not you Womp, just in general....they basically sit there with their hands crossed for every event already assuming that it will suck and need to be impressed
...Wasn't Womp, like, complimenting the event?

Yeah, because it didn't conform to his expectations, which I assumed was the part BL took issue with. Expectations are bad, I guess?

No...what I'm saying is that some fans judge these events based on sins of past events....kind of like, your last GF was a psycho so you just assume every woman is a psycho and don't talk to women at all....

I give every event a 0 start....thats just me

I'm probably one of the most open minded posters on these boards. I like pretty much 90% of the crap DC puts out. I've been excited about Blackest Night for a long time.

What I was saying, is that the War of Light isn't shaping up to be the cookie cutter war I thought it was going to be. 7 corps, with 7 groups of guardians, with 7 ion varieties with the good corps fighting the bad corps.

But instead, we have a one man corps, a green lantern leading the blue lanterns whose powers are surprisingly symbiotic. We have Mongul competing against Sinestro in a power struggle and also Mongul eventually joining the Red Lanterns. We have the Yellow and Red being rivals rather than allies.

What I was saying BL, is that is turning out to be even better than my expectations. So the pessimist here is...you.

but that part is true

There you go....instead of going in fresh, you expected it to suck....but it doesn't and you're pleased because GL and GLC have earned your approval....:oldrazz:

No, I just thought the lines were going to be more traditional. I didn't say it was going to suck. In fact, I said I was excited about it. Why would I be excited about something that was going to suck. Unless of course the sucking involved a woman. Giggity.

It really is shaping up to be better than I expected. I don't think I have ever been more excited for a comic book event

Da fug?

Also, I think the reds are going to be enemies of everybody. Since they're unreasonably angry and all.

Remember the demotivation poster of Mongul wearing a Green and Yellow ring and holding a Red one?

^wasn't it a pink one instead ?
The Zamarons have still their secret agenda no one is talking about : They want to collect all the rings (in this secret room they have, in the star sapphire story arc of GL). Personnally I was not expecting anything from this war of light except what I was expecting. I mean I wanted good stories, I thought it was going to turn into the bad guy vs the good guy, 7 identical corps, and at the time, that was fine for me, at least it was fun, and in the end, it is better than I suspected or imagine. The corps are founded differently, each act differently or similarly, this one allies with this one, this one is the ennemy of this one. I find this interesting. The pivotal characters are Atrocitus and Larfleeze and I hope they won't screw them up.
In the end, I even think I may be wrong to expect the very expectable Hal& Sinestro VS Atrocitus, reminiscant of Secret Origin.

The last issue of GLC was good (again) ! I do not know [BLACKOUT]if Voz is dead[/BLACKOUT], I would prefer not, because I like him. What I prefer is the attitude of Sodom Yat. I was sure he would have turned nice to his father, I thought the writer would have found that redundant to have the same speech that he had with his mother, but in fact he was still angry ! And I think it gives more flesh to this character I did not care much before.
Honestly my level of careness about the daxamites is so low that I was almost sitting with the Sinestro Corps watching them fall. Arkillo is going to be a pain in the ass for Mongul, that is for sure !
The only "weak" thing in that is the Sinestro/Soranik relation ship. I was sure of this, it was more than "foreshadowed", it was completely expectable. :down Hey Does Sinestro have a family name ?
And the Red lantern riot ? fun but not that much. The "combat time!" panel perfectly captured the mess of the situation.
I want to add that I begin to prefer the writing of Tomasi rather than the writing of Johns. Because I don't have the character do "what they are supposed to do" in order for the story to work.

Hey did anyone noticed few mistakes in this issue ? For example, when the GL attack the science cells on the left of the picture, there is Kraken in the middle ?!?!?! Isn't she an Alpha Lantern since few months ? And this Red Lantern causing the riot, Vice I believe, it is said that he was caught during the battle in outter space but then again, he is with Atrocitus on Ysmault until the end of the arc Rage of the Red Lantern ?!?!?! And Arkillo is supposed to be mute (kind of) but he clearly speaks at one moment. I suppose the text bubble is not well placed. Just seems odd to see all those things.

You really are beligerent. The holes you dig for yourself in order to avoid owning up to a minor misunderstanding continue to astound me.

Yeah, but I figured that was meaningless promotional material, since Mongul's stuck to the yellow rings pretty steadfastly so far.

Man, whatever notion of Arkillo being a bum after getting beat by Mongul was throw away last issue. What a badass.

What happened? I am mildly curious about anything involving Mongul.

Nothing happened with Mongul. Arkillo was laying siege to some Daxamites and killed a guy for saying Mongul's name.

Arkillo also wore his severed tongue around his neck as a reminder.
