just saw Death Proof...it was okay. the action was great but i thought everything else was kinda boring. the conversation between butterfly and stuntman mike, the lapdance, the action, and stuntman mike's crying were the best parts of the movie.....everything else was pretty 'meh'.

Agreed.

Oh, wait. I forgot. You guys in the UK got Death Proof first.

Indeed but i watched it on the net back when it came out as Grindhouse, think im paying twice to see whats basically one movie (AND WITH NO FAKE TRAILERS!!!) got another think coming:)

Might buy the dvds before christmas though....

I think when all is said and done, DP is a chick flick. There's an over abundance of nonsensical chick talk in there that i found very annoying, but a woman may enjoy/relate too.

I actually REALLY enjoyed Death Proof, watched it today and the stunts were fantastic, a real throwback to the non-CGI days, and i enjoyed watching the girls also.

Who wouldnt want to watch Vanessa Ferlito, Sydney Tamilia Poitier, Rose Bryne, Rosario Dawson and Mary Elizabeth Winstead?

Plus, Kurt Russell was awesome in it. 8.5 out of 10 for me.

Can someone tell me if a make-up and visual effects featurette will be included in the 2 disc R1 dvd of planet terror? because I've read the list of specs on the R1 dvd on dvd times and it doesn't have an effects featurette listed as it does on other sites.

I just saw Planet Terror, and all it's kickassery. Loved the nods to QT's earlier movies.

Planet terror was just awful. If I didn't know better I would have thought I was watching a parody. Someone should tell RR that just because you're making your film in the same style as those bad 70s movies doesn't mean you should also copy the things that made them bad as well. There should still be some semblence of a real story with real characters.

It was supposed to be bad. That's the whole point.

It's not supposed to have a 'real' story.

I saw this a few days ago. and i thought what happen to QT's character was some of the sickest **** i've ever seen.:o :wow: and i think i loved it.

IMO it's not about one being in competitiong to another. They are actualy 1 film that shares a road. Although PT is a furthur out concept-as it stands, than the occurances in DP, DP is more grounded.

Just like back in the day, when there used to be these theaters that you drove up to in your car, you often went there w/ the intent of seeing a double feature.

PT was more grousome than it had to be, but I guess it stayed in the frame of being so over the top.

The opeing sequenses in both were some of the stronger points. DP is actually a filmed soundtrack, as w/ PT, I think I heard that RR wrote the movie based on the opening's piece of music, and Rose's pole dance:o

3 days until the dvd comes out and i haven't seen a Planet Terror commercial yet. I don't like that Death Proof gets more marketing respect than Planet Terror, especially since I think that Planet Terror was better. I swear, if Death Proof (which I still think is very good) was as good as Planet Terror and the faux trailers, Grindhouse would be my #1 for 2007.

I saw a few commercials for Planet Terror on Comedy Central and NBC.

I read a lot of great reviews of Planet Terror so I pre-ordered it off of Amazon. Looking forward to it.

Well then that's good. Still gonna wait though, even though Planet Terror seems a little more tempting.

If you missed Grindhouse in theatres and wish you could have seen it on the big screen here's your chance, sort of...

Death Proof and Planet Terror will hit theatres in Mexico, April 18 and May 9, respectively. So if you live near Mexico you can make a trip south of the border to watch them.
