The only good thing about a sweet movie bombing is how soon it will come to dvd!

I was thinking about Quentin when he dropped his pants and he had to hurry to do the deed and all that crap was dropping. Oh god, good lord that was gross and ****ing hilarious.

Grindhouse gets split in UK
It’s official. After weeks of speculation, it’s been confirmed that GRINDHOUSE will be more like GRIND and HOUSE in the U.K., as the brothers Weinstein have decided to separate PLANET TERROR and DEATH PROOF in England.

According to Variety, the underperformance of GRINDHOUSE here in the States has tongues wagging over there, so the Weinsteins are moving ahead with the split, which was not originally in the plans for that territory.

"Based on U.S. audience's positive reactions to Quentin Tarantino's 'Death Proof' and Robert Rodriguez's 'Planet Terror,' combined with their resistance to the three-hour running time, we've revised our U.K. release plans to allow audiences the chance to see the films separately, like they will be shown in all international territories," Harvey Weinstein said.

DEATH PROOF will be released on September 21 (presumably it will be the version Tarantino has prepared for the Cannes Film Festival). PLANET TERROR hasn’t a release date yet, but the same distributor, Momentum Pictures, will be handling it.

Well, now audiences over there will be able to enjoy PLANET TERROR without getting their hopes raised and then murderously dashed by the unendingly banal DEATH PROOF(yeah, I'm one of those). The real shame is that this probably means that the faux trailers in-between both movies will be jettisoned.

Not necessarily. One would hope they'de be released w/BOTH movies.

It's a STUPID descision to split them up.

The whole point of the film is to view them as a DOUBLE FEATURE GRINDHOUSE EXPERIENCE...COMPLETE WITH TRAILERS.

As I said before, Weinstien said he didn't think audiences got it (be that as it may) but I think he's the one who doesn't get it.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dumbest thing ever! You think im going to pay twice for a movie that is basically one film? Wrong, as soon as the Dvd comes out in America i will get it then, stupid money grabbing bastards!

Bring on the Region 1 DVD. By the time the damn films (pointless) come out I could have seen the whole thing 10 times on DVD. The Weinstein bros can kiss my ass!

I bought the latest issue of Australian Empire magazine which has a cover story on Grindhouse written and produced and at the eleventh hour was told Grindhouse will be split in Australia and so there's little bits of edited info throughout the eight-ish-page spread on both films which is cool. It also has info about Transformers, 28 Weeks Later, Pirates 3 as well as a double-sided Pirates 3 poster...but I'm just glad that I bought Death Proof A Screenplay and Grindhouse: The whatever it is of an Exploitation Double Feature and they are being shipped now.

But I do not know whether having reminders of what was supposed to be a double-feature theatrical experience after they will be released separately is healthy for me.

And I'm being serious. I've been looking forward to this movie for at least a year now - and Harvey Weinstein has decided to **** in my face by splitting it up. I seriously think having reminders of it being a double-feature may hurt me in the long run - that's how much of an emotional connection I have to this material. You can't **** with people's emotions and interests like this.

But as my brother said: Quentin and Robert have obviously let it been done to recoop costs...but I'm not sure it's so "obvious". There may have been a few meetings about splitting it up - but as I have said before - it's not about making money - it's about a grindhouse theatrical experience. Whether you've experienced it or not, your country actually gets them or not it's STILL a theatrical experience.

It's like saying "Yeah...you know this movie we were advertising? Yeah...well...we want more money so are splitting it in two."

But hey - the upside is we'll be getting extended versions with the missing reels put back in. At least that's something to look forward to.

I just hope, even if there is no double-feature grindhouse experience here that they release a special edition DVD with the film as a double feature the way it was to be presented. Plus a separate Planet Terror DVD (with all of Robert's spesh features) and Death Proof (with all of...Quentins...semi-special features...)...

So if that is what happens...which seems most likely - they're already getting more money from us - so what's the big ****ing deal? Am I wrong in assuming Harvey's maths is terribly off? They've made at least a third of the budget back - they can make more than that (as a double feature) in other countries.

Splitting it up is making it a flop for sure...even though I'm going to see them...

Yup! they should have just released the dam thing worldwide from the word go, get all the money in at once if they wanted it back that bad, now they are just splitting it putting it off for another 4 months!!! and basically shooting their foots/feet.

I for one wont be seeing them in the cinema (paying to see the same film twice but months apart NAR!) I will just get the dvd

Eli Roth, Edgar Wright Looking At 'Grindhouse 2'

After bombing at the box office, the $100 million Grindhouse is struggling to earn back its money (splitting the film in other countries is one way). I;m sure when it's all said and done the film will have made back it's money, if not close... leaving the world now finally knowing WHAT a "grind house" really is. So what does that mean for Eli Roth and Edgar Wright, whom both helmed faux trailers between Rodriguez and Tarantino's films? It means doing a low budget sequel might actually be smart - at least in my humble opinion. Read on for details on the possibilities.

Despite problematic box office results, fans are still clamoring to see the fake trailers from "Grindhouse" as feature films. Edgar Wright has plans to expand "Don't," and Eli Roth thinks his "Thanksgiving" (watch it here) would make the perfect double feature, at least according to Rotten Tomatoes.

"I already talked with Edgar Wright about Edgar doing 'Don't' and me doing 'Thanksgiving,'" said Roth. "We're talking to Dimension about it. I think they're still trying to figure out 'Grindhouse 1' before we think about 'Grindhouse 2,' but I've already been working on the outline for it and I would do it in a heartbeat."

An aficionado of '80s horror films, Roth would do it old school style. "The catch is that me and all my friends who are in our 30s, we all have to play high school students, because that's how they did it in '80s horror movies."

Roth could write a full script for "Thanksgiving," but the outline is likely to be sufficient. "We have the outline, the story ideas but part of the fun of Grindhouse is actually not having a script. I wouldn't want to write it too detailed. You've just got to work out the kills and then see who's around and grab a camera and have fun."

The director has no fears about the "Grindhouse" label, even though The Weinstein Company seems blindsided by the public response. "My feeling is that three and a half hours, it was a long time at the movies for people. The movie itself was three hours and 15 minutes and then there's 20 minutes of trailers and then parking and everything, it suddenly became a four hour evening for people. So there's only so many times you can show it in a day and a lot of people getting off work, it was tough for people to find the time to see it. The people that saw it loved it. People were going crazy for it and I think that 25 years from now, everyone will talk about the classic movie Grindhouse and no one will talk about, the words box office disappointment won't even apply. I think the guys made a brilliant film and they should be commended for it and they took a risk."

I'm looking forward(like I have a choice)to Grindhouse 2 :)

I'd definitely see it for "Thanksgiving" alone, but I'm not too crazy about the "Don't" idea. I'd rather see another Rodriguez movie in the double feature.

'Grindhouse' Talk Resumes, New International Poster

As much as I loved Dimension Films' Grindhouse, I can't freaking wait to stop talking about it - but now that the two films are getting released individually in some territory's overseas, more new promo materials are hitting the web. Inside you'll find a look at an international one sheet for Robert Rodriguez's zombie horror-film, "Planet Terror", which stars Freddy Rodriguez, Rose McGowan, Josh Brolin, Naveen Andrews, Marley Shelton, Michael Biehn, Stacy Ferguson, Jeff Fahey and Michael Parks.
