easily a cult classic.. it will make its money back on the dvd release

Gonna see the film Saturday. Theater got it instead of 28 Weeks Later (boo!). But Grindhouse features zombies, so it should be worth the money. Is 2 for the price of 1.

This movie came and bombed. But hey, GrindHouse movies are not suppose to be hits, why would anyone think otherwise?

But anyway, this movie is as fake as it can possibly get. It had a budget over $50 Million, shot it digitally, and they intentionally made the film grain scratchy. And on top of that hired name actors such as Bruce Willis.

Do you people know what a real GrindHouse film is? It's a very cheap low-budget film that uses the s****iest cameras available that already come with terrible film grain. A Grindhouse film is pushing limits if it even has a 5 Million budget! This one had 50. Grindhouse Cinema has actors you've never heard of. Rob Rod did not make a Grindhouse film, he made a parody of a GrindHouse film.

Evil Dead f***in PWNS this lame ripoff.

i got dragged to see this again on a date... loved planet terror even more, and hated death proof even more.

death proof was downright awful. the dialogue (usually a high point in tarantino's movies) was sooooo bad. not witty or smart at all. the car chase was lost a lot less impressive, too.

Got back from Grindhouse. Came to the theater this weekend...and...it's good. Worth the 5 bucks to get in. Planet Terror was the showcase here, although Death Proof flowed better.

Too bad the films won't be together on dvd.

Danny Trejo Says "Machete" is a Go

Ftopel writes: "Danny Trejo surprised and pleased fans by announcing that he will definitely be making a feature length film of "Machete," the fake trailer that opens "Grindhouse." At this point, even if The Weinstein Company did not plan to move forward, who's going to say no to Danny Trejo?

"That's going to be a blast," Trejo bragged. "They're going to make that. In fact, call Bob Weinstein and Harvey and tell them that I said so."

"Machete" could even be Robert Rodriguez's next movie. "They were going to try to make 'Sin City [2]' before 'Machete' but now they want to do 'Machete' first. Oh yeah, oh yeah, they're going to make that. That's a definite."

With a half hour of footage already shot and Rodriguez sitting on the script for years, it should not take long to complete "Machete." "It's kind of amazing. I think Robert Rodriguez kind of planned it that way because he told me about 'Machete' five years ago.Robert wants to make that into a feature and I said, 'Okay, let's do it. I got the time.' So it's going to be a lot of fun."

Trejo is still attached to "Sin City 2," but Rodriguez has not told him what he would play. "I have no idea. Maybe I'll beat up Marv. I'm just waiting to say yes. They haven't started. I think they want to do 'Machete' before they do 'Sin City 2.'"

There is also talk of releasing "Machete" in time with the "Grindhouse" DVD, but Trejo was less specific on those details. "I'm not sure what they want to do with that. I think they're going to release the DVD with 'Grindhouse' and then put 'Machete' out there. 'Machete' wouldn't be that hard to do."

This will be the first time in Danny Trejo's entire career that he plays the lead character.

Dimension's 'GRINDHOUSE' Going Solo?!

The story has been coming in full force to both of my ears and we are in the process of trying to confirm or at least "understand" what the future holds for Dimension Films' Grindhouse, which underperformed at the box office last month. Because there were two movies filmed - Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof" and Robert Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" - the exact details of what could happen are up in the air. Inside we have details on what we might see happen in the near future, although we are still awaiting confirmation and/or clarification.

What we're told is that if the Cannes screening of the extended version of Tarantino's "Death Proof" is a success, you can count on seeing the film released solo here in the States. We've also been told that Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" might also see a release too.

But just last week we were hearing mumblings of "Planet Terror" hitting DVD sometime in the fall without any word of Tarantino's. Does this mean they've already made a decision on "Death Proof" or are they just releasing the DVDs on separate street dates?

Like I said, B-D is digging and will report back as soon as we find out more. Needless to say, it sounds like we have some interesting news coming shortly.

Grindhouse – noun – A downtown movie theater - in disrepair since its glory days as a movie palace of the '30s and '40s - known for "grinding out" non-stop double-bill programs of B-movies.

From groundbreaking directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez comes the ultimate film experience: a double-bill of thrillers that will recall both filmmakers’ favorite exploitation films. “Grindhouse” will be presented as one full-length feature comprised of two individual films helmed separately by each director -- Tarantino’s film, “Death Proof,” is a rip-roaring slasher flick where the killer pursues his victims with a car rather than a knife, while Rodriguez’s film explores an alien world eerily familiar to ours in “Planet Terror.”
