The Official Halo thread!

Man, that concept art is good stuff. So was this Fall Of Reach script written AFTER everybody dropped out?

I believe so. Stuart Beattie wrote the screenplay in an attempt to reboost the interest in the film.

So this film is getting another director? Is 2010 then too soon to hope for a film?

I haven't heard of another being attached. 2010 may be a little too soon, since a studio hasn't bought Beattie's screenplay (if they have, they haven't announced it).

Will it end up being another Doom?
I doubt it with how much effort people are putting into this movie. And I hope cheesy actors like the Rock Dwayne Cantact are not attached. Bungie will also be heavily involved so we have some hope.

I don't think we really know enough about the film. It's based on the novel and the screenplay has been written by Stuart Beattie. I'd love to hear him speak about it, though.

Thats great......Hopefully this film will happen soon. This year would of been a great year to release "Halo" but With Fox doing this film......I have my doubts if this film will be great or they will ruin another film that has potential

I have faith in Stuart Beattie. Collateral was outstanding.

Hmmm you are right about that but with Fox how they handle there films like garbage I still have my doubts. Only if they can get a good enough director to have the right vision and put his or her's foot on FOX's throat and not let them have a say at all

Maybe.

I don't know if they've actually bought Beattie's screenplay yet. Or will at all.

Yah. Doubt it but they could look into it. Man If Jackson would of Directed or Produced this film with Neil whatever. Then I would of had faith in them. Just by the little short films he had the right vision for the movie

I loved his short films. They were awesome.

Yes they were. Dont know why Bill Gates just doesnt do pay for the film? Isnt like 150 million chump change for him? :hehe:

Fall of Reach sounds kind of cool, but if they're going to do a Halo movie, I kind of feel like there should be an actual Halo in there somewhere. I really liked what I heard of that first script that M$ apparently paid $2,000,000 for, because it sounded like that had real potential. It's a shame that this ruddy project can't get off the ground, but it's not the only project I'm looking forward to that's having this problem.

I notice this wasn't posted:

Halo has found it's director and he's first time helmer Neill Blomkamp. Halo will be produced by Academy Award winners Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh under their WingNut Films banner for Universal Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox. Visual effects, miniatures, and creature design and creation will all be handled by Jackson's award-winning Weta Digital Ltd. and Weta Workshop, Ltd., most recently known for their Oscar-worthy work on "The Lord of the Rings" films. The press release states that Blomkamp is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and original artists currently working in short films and commercial advertising. Mary Parent, Scott Stuber and Peter Schlessel will produce Halo. The film is currently targeted for a summer 2008 worldwide release. Halo will be shot in Wellington, New Zealand, and will make use of the full range of Jackson's state-of-the-art production and post-production facilities there, including Weta, Stone Street Studios, and Park Road Post. "As a gaming fan, I'm excited to bring Halo's premise, action and settings to the screen with all the specificity and reality today's technology can provide," said Jackson. "Fran and I are intrigued by the unique challenges this project offers, and we're delighted to be working again with our friends at Universal, and with our new ones at Fox and Microsoft. With Neill on board, I'm even more excited by the potential of this project."
