The Official Halo thread!

i don't think that this live-action movie will be made
if it does, they will have to stay very close to the story from the game

I thought Peter Jackson was already in the middle of making the Halo movie, but on G4 when someone asked a guy from Bungie about the movie, the guy said the movie was put on hold.So what's the deal?

It was put on hold and it's pretty much in development hell. It was going to be an expensive film and the studios dropped out. But hopefully the release of Halo 3 will spark interest again. It's not the deepest story ever in a game, but it has the possibility to be epic with the battles and effects.

Josh Hartnett is Master Chief.

"I'm finishing this fight. It's only going to take me 30 days and 30 nights. Or 30 days of night. Or whatever."

The Halo Movie is "Dead"

Creativity Online has posted a new interview with Neill Blomkamp who was set to the big screen Halo movie until everything went downhill last year. Here's a quote on the movie:

The film is entirely dead. In the configuration it was in. Whatever happens with that movie, assuming that movie gets made, will be a totally different configuration. It's not so much me as the entire vessel sank. Basically, it was a combination of; there were two studios involved that weren't getting along in the process of making it, Universal and Fox. That kind of stuff happens, it's a fragile industry. So the film collapsed at the end of last year, and it's been dead, ever since then. I'll be curious to see what happens.

You can read the full interview here

Oh well

F*** YOU, FOX!!! can someone drop a nuke on that company please???

There goes what could've been a good movie.
it could've been the intergalactic equivalent of the Lord of the Rings movies...

...i still don't understand why no one else is picking this movie up. considering how well Halo 3 is doing you figure they'd wanna make a Halo movie ASAP!

I think in the end it all comes down money. Fox & Universal are simply thinking business and what Blomkamp ( with the support of Pete Jackson) wants to make is a big budget intergalactic space war movie with the action and realism of Saving Private Ryan.
At least that is the impression that i got from the short HALO movies.
And let's face that's not exactly profitable . So on one hand i can understand why Fox & Universal are so wary. On the other hand i still think it's dumb for them not to make this movie.

However what i can't understand is why MS/Bungie aren't funding this movie themselves. Just like Marvel is doing now with Iron Man , Hulk and Thor they could've easly funded their own HALO Movie . All they need is a movie studio for distribution rights.
And it's not lile they don't have any money , especially with HALO 3 making 170 million in 24 hrs .

i can understand why MS doesn't wanna take that risk. look what happened to the last video game company that tried to break into the movie business (Square with Final Fantasy). even though it's under different circumstances, it's still a pretty big risk.

besides, i wouldn't want M$ getting involved with the film industry. we'd be getting the blue screen of death in the middle of the movie...

from Blomkamp

"I was going to push that as far as [I could] until the studios kind of threw a noose around me. I was going to go as far with that as I possibly could. I wanted it to feel like the most brutal, real version of science fiction in a war environment that you've seen in a while. And Universal was on board with that. I don't really remember what Fox thought about it, but Universal seemed down with it. It would have been cool, it would have been a unique take on things, science fiction in a dirty, organic way."

once again...F*** YOU, FOX!!!

Typical Fox. They were probably pushing for a popcorn, PG-13 Halo movie.

edit- WOW!! that third vid blew me away!

why only three!!!?????

I really didn't expact that. O well I guess.
