Wait and see but there is why Gwen is going out with him and its not good
The Lizard. Also introduce Tombstone and Hammerhead who hire Scorpion to take down Spider-Man after he puts one of their clients (Quinten Beck) in Prison. During an all out battle with Lizard, Scorpion and Spider-Man, the Lizard tears apart Scorpion's suit. Lonnie Lincoln AKA Tombstone (the new owner of Oscorp) is furious that all the money he put into that suit and serum went to waste. Now he hires Kraven in SM5 to take down Spider-Man AND Lizard. In the end, Kraven is put in a National Prison while there is a local prison break at the end of SM5, leaving the possibility of Mysterio, Scorpion or Gargan's Scorpion, Hammerhead, Tombstone as villains or even Electro. You could introduce Max as Peter's friend in SM-4 and build up to it.
I know it sounds sort of unorganized, but you can see my fanfic here (http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=305254) it really could work and save the failing franchise.
Seriously? The third one was crap. Emo Peter? Dancing in the streets? Egotistical MJ? Bernerd knows all!? SANDMAN IS BEN'S KILLER!? Seriously man... what the crap. Anyways, check out my outlined story as to how it would work. What failing franchise? Spider-man 3 may have gotten mixed reviews (some reputable critics actually liked it) and it earned a huge chunk of change.
I didn't like it as much as the first two, but it was a huge success. I would hardly say this is a franchise is failing...
why would you reboot the series when we have yet to see the following enemies and allies
the lizard in his full form
black cat
kingpin
hobgoblin
hydro
electro
the black fly brothers from the 60's series
rhino
shocker
carnage
that's about 4 or 5 more movies from this bunch alone
It's not failing, but for some reason, some fans have 'reboot' hardwired into their brains. If you oppose this, feathers will be ruffled.
Yeah umm...The Spider and the Fly: Spidey chases the culprit in an attempted theft of jewels from a countess and is surprised to find that his opponent, dressed in a black "Human Fly" costume, also has the ability to scale walls and can cross thin wires between buildings.

Well no he was mentioned in the first movie and introduced in the second movie. Dunno how you missed him in the two scenes he was in.Well the profesor was already introduced in the 3.
he was trying to find a cure for cancer and that was in Ultimate Spider-Man.And remember that when Pter goes to see him, he keeps part of the symboite(Venom). And i do believe in the comics there is a storyline where the proffesor experiments on the symbiote to regrow his arm, eventually makes him turn into the lizard, but also from the experiments the symbiote mutates into carnage.
