Sequels The Official "How YOU would do Spider-Man 4" thread

How would I do Spider-Man 4? Well, first I'd name it Spider-Man 3 so that everybody can forget about the "real" Spider-Man 3.

But seriously, just that whole Kraven/Lizard storyline. Seems to write itself.

But its been done before. Alot, and I don't want to see a plot we all see coming. Those too meld together so well, it's so easy to know abnout the plot.

Good thing you're not in charge over there.

Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean everyone hates it. If that were the case, every movie would get re-made because not everyone will be happy.

Its all about the journey :cwink:

I knew the "plot" of The Dark Knight but I was still astounded when I saw it and even surprised by certain things. Plus its not like we'll know every single little detail.

Focus more on Spider-man. I'm not saying make it all action, but the movie is about Spider-man, not Peter Parker.

As well, make it without Parker dancing and stuff, that was more awkward than funny.

Then have I got a story idea for you!

I call it "The Clone Saga" and it all starts with this guy named Ben Reilly...

I think the obvious choice for villians in 4 starts with the Lizard. I think the obvious pairing to the Lizard is Kraven.

I like the idea that Kraven comes to New York to hunt Spidey, but then sees the Lizard as a bigger prize. So now Spidey has to keep Kraven from killing the Lizard even know the Lizard is a mindless creature that is just going around killing.

Also Spidey having to figure out the identity of the Lizard would make for some interesting points in the movie.

I think there should be hints that the symbiote is still alive. Where that goes I don't know. I still think we missed out on Venom being the villian he should be.

Peter should propose to MJ in the movie and she says no at first. Remeber she said not in the comics a couple times bfore the finally did get engaged.

No Gwen in the movie! That was dumb throwing her in the last one.

That's what I want, too! I would love the movie to start off with a *bang!*. The audience could come in right in the middle of a battle between Spidey and some villain. Perhaps... Scorpion? I would love, love, love to see a live-action interpretation of Scorpion. Ever since I played the Spider-Man 3 video game and saw that action figure that was made of him in accordance with the "Movie-Verse", I have really wanted to see him on the big screen. While I am not the biggest fan of Lizard, I can tolerate him being a villain in the movie (if done right, of course), but I would really love to see Adrian Toomes aka, The Vulture, as the main villain. We have already had a ton of Anti-Villains (Ock, Harry, Sandman and most likely Connors), so I would really like to see a villain who is just... *evil*. I am partial to "classic" villains and would love to see what the filmmakers could do with some that have to yet to appear on screen. Just my two cents...

Okay I've had my own idea for a while on how I'd like to see a spidey movie, and I'm gonna lay down some of the key points. Note: this is basically a reboot and in no way is made to fit into the current series.

The beginning: after the opening credits we fade into the first image, which appropriately enough is a spider in an orb web. I imagine some kind of slow paced, melancholy music playing. We zoom out from the web, which is suspended in a tree and reveal an above shot of a young boy sitting in a yard reading text books on a sunny afternoon. We approach and circle the child as he reads something scientific, and the sombre, sad kind of music gives us the feeling that this child is bright, but somewhat alienated and reserved.

He stops reading a moment and looks up toward the gate partially seeing visitors arriving at the front door of the house. Aunt may and uncle Ben answer, but we cant make out what they're saying. He continues reading, showing genuine interest but again stops at the sound of aunt may crying. A deep tone rings, signalling dread. Confused he watches the gate as the visitors leave. Deciding not to investigate, he continues reading until Uncle Ben walks out into the yard and stops before the child (which is parker if you havent got it yet). Here, uncle ben informs peter that his parents have died in a plane crash...

I believe this is the best part to begin the story, showing first that parker is an orphan.

From here we make a transition to a nighttime shot of water running down a reflective surface, we zoom out to reveal the eye piece of the now adult Spiderman in costume atop a building in the rain. We see him moniter a vehicle for a while, then bust up some kind of weapons exchange and interrogate one of the crooks after hanging them upside down from the feet.

My idea is that the majority of the movie takes place over a relativly short time-frame where spider-man tracks and identifies a particular criminal that he is intent on apprehending (due to an inner turmoil he has over Ben). Most of the time Spider-man is in costume... But at certain moments when he makes a drastic descision or is asked a personal question, we go to a flash back scene showing more of young peter and other moments prior to the film.

Theres a flashback showing interaction between him and uncle ben, the origion scene (with the spider-bite), spidey attempting to make money with his powers... and during the film after someone close to Spidey had repeatedly asked why he does what he does, we see a flashback of uncle bens death.

I think the flashback approach would be good, this way we can see a completely origional story aswell as classic milestones. And you could show atleast one villain fight without the character hanging around for the rest of the film.

Anyone seen slumdog millionaire? I imagine the story kind of unravelling that way.

Don't say "reboot." Say the next set of films.

Reboot gets thrown aruond too much I don't think people know what the word means sometimes.

BB was a reboot. B&R was a horrible film and a disaster finacially and critically. Reboot when that happens, FINACIALLY is key also. It can make 100's of million no matter what the quality and they won't restart it.

??? I thought reboot just meant a new movie that wasn't made in the timeline of the previous and doesnt share the same events.

Not necessarily. A reboot is a complete retooling of a franchise. The key word there is franchise. There has to be something that comes after it. A reboot can't really be a one-shot deal. The one-time version of a reboot is a spin-off.

A reboot is a replacement of what came before and continues through all subsequent installments.

Retcopn Spider-Man 3 for one thing....

I'd add a message at the end, "It was all a dream!" * cut to Peter waking up in the middle of the night sweating and panting...

**Based on current rumors of villains**

Story begins with the city of NY having mixed feelings about Spider-Man due to the events of SM3.

Aunt May has become ill and doctors tell Peter that she is just getting to an age where time catches up with people.

Peter's relationship with MJ has become rocky and due to this he has become more focused on school. MJs career is beginning to do well again and she has been presented with a choice to leave NY and star in a movie in LA.

Curt Conners has Peter as TA and through this he meets the European geneticist Michael Morbius whose work Conners is interested in due to his missing limb.

Gwen and Peter become closer friends due to school but Peter feels too guilty after the events of SM3 to do anything, even though Gwen has developed feelings for him.

Oscorp has been taken over by Adrian Toomes, at this point he makes some corny speech about how he become rich by picking at weaker business men, like a vulture. (we leave it at that for now)

Toomes Company is funding Michael's research. Through working with Michael, Peter learns that Michael's research is to cure a blood disease his sister has. He tells Peter that certain species of bats have grown immune to blood diseases as it is their main source of nutrition. Peter tries to explain the dangers of genetic research, Morbius tells Peter to have faith (an elude to this religious background)

Peter visits Aunt May as she has become even more ill and prays at her bedside having taken Michael's advice.

As Peter is trying to fight crime and regain the trust of citizens that now fear him, Conners breaks into Morbius' lab and begins to steal his research. he finds that Michael has been illegally experimenting on animals in the old country but has had success with reptilian DNA

MJ and Gwen meet and Gwen explains to MJ that although She now has feelings for Peter, that Peter is in love with MJ. She is torn about going to LA or staying and trying to work things out with Peter. In going to talk to Peter she bumps into Morbius and they hit it off.

Conners finds that he may possibly regrow his limb using Michael's research and tests it. he mutates a serum Michael has developed to unsafe levels and mixes it with reptilian DNA. He becomes the monstrous lizard.

This threat becomes very real as Spider-Man literally bears witness to a person being dragged into the sewer. In chase, Spider-man sees from the tattered clothing that it is curt Conners.

As Peter he rushes to the lab only to find Morbius furious that someone would dare steal his research. He explains to Peter he was so close to a cure for his sister.

Toomes finds out about the ruined lab and cuts funding to Michael's research. Ruined, Michael begins to continue his experiments in his apartment, not knowing that the serum he developed is at unsafe levels. In a last ditch effort believing that if he cannot cure his sister, he will die with her, Morbius injects himself with the disease and his cure. It works at first.

JJJ has come up with new headlines stating that Spider-Man is dragging people into the sewers where he keeps his web to eat them.

In the sewer, the lizard smells a familiar scent, that of his student Gwen and begins to hunt her down.

Peter on his way to tutor Gwen hears her screams. He changes and chases the lizard into central park where they fight. The battle becomes public as many people are around and it draws TV attention

Morbius is sitting in the dark in his apartment and sees a commercial for a vampire themed cereal that cuts to the news cast on the television. He sees the lizard’s clothes and knows it is conners. In a rage he flies into the night as morbius the living vampire.

The police are now on scene as Capt. Stacey is trying to save his daughter. Spider-man fares well in the fight but the lizard eventual drags him into a small pool where he is drowning him.

Gwen runs for safety and runs into Morbius, scared by his appearance, morbius wants to attack her at first but she flees. Morbius feels like a monster but this fuels his anger as he joins the fight inadvertantly saving spider-man.

The lizard gets away into the sewer just in time for spider-man to confront Morbius. Spider-man recognizes him but pretends not to and asks him if he knows how this happened. Morbius explains his experiment and asks spider-man to help him find a cure.

MJ leaves a humorous meeting with an LA exec (played by Bruce Campbell) sees the news of the attack and meets Gwen at her place. Gwen is shaken up but explains that she knows the creature of Dr Conners and that if she was the target, Peter could be next.

Morbius and Spider-Man break into Toomes lab so that Michael can synthesize a cure. The lizard has been trailing peter's scent to the lab. He arrives just in time for Michael to finish one dose of the cure. The fight destroys the lab but Conners is injected and becomes human again.

The lab is ruined and Morbius' work is lost. He is enraged with what he has become, Spider-Man tells him to have faith and believe he will find a way to become normal again. Morbius leaves into the night.

MJ arrives at peter's place to see if he is okay, she uses her cell phone and tells him that she loves him but she cannot give up her dream. Morbius, having been following MJ hears this and realizes she loves someone else.

Peter returns to the hospital where aunt may is conscious but the doctors do not give her much longer.

Gwen shows up, she knew she would be able to find peter there.
Peter goes into the room alone and Aunt May and him talk about Uncle Ben and how they miss him. Aunt may asks peter to pass her purse to her. She tells peter to remember when she told him she threw out his comics, she unfolds a piece of paper that is one of peter's original sketches of the spider-man costume. She tells him she knew all along and that no matter what anyone says, she is proud of him and that uncle Ben would be proud too. with that, she slowly passes.

Peter walks out of the room, Gwen comforts him

Seeing his ruined lab, Adrian Toomes is furious, one of his assistants tells him that they have come a ways in reverse engineering Norman Osborn military glider flight technology.

fade to black.

if their is a Spider-man 4,5,6 I think we should see cross-overs of other Marvel characters that have had their own 3 solo movies...one of the things we didnt see in Spider-man 1-3 is Peter's scientific side...I think introducing Morbious and the vampire storyling(or whatever you want to call it) and havin Spider-man team up with Blade would make for great action/story and for Blade fans it would resolve his character after Blade 3 and the storyline would be a little bit more darker

just my two cents.....

Great story! I thought the JJJ part was hilarious - publishing a paper stating that Spider-Man is dragging people to the sewer and webbing them up to eat them. That could add some comic relief.

I like your idea of Adrian Toomes taking over Oscorp. Nice hint of him becoming the Vulture.

Aunt May's death is a good way to progress the story. The idea of Aunt May knowing that Peter was Spider-Man all along is great. Overall, your ideas seem nice and it actually shows some sides of Peter that we haven't seen much, such as his intelligence in science.

Kraven and Lizard would be terrible villains for a movie. There are so many better villains, those too just aren't epic enough. They are so "blah"

I'm all for Lizard, and I don't mind Kraven.

how i would do spider-man 4. I just watched the 90's fox animated series of spider-man and one thing that struck me was how "right" they nailed parker/spidey's personality and humor. his one liners were hilarious, the constant voice over's of parker thinking to himself was spot on. bring in that writer from that series or brian michael bendis to write spider-man or just the dialogue for him. I'm sick of sony bringing in these writers like koepp, ect... that don't get spidey. when has tobey maguire has said anything funny. ever. the dialogue they give to him is flat and boring. every episode of the fox series had something witty, especially his voice over stuff. his one-liners to fisk, norman, and madame webb were hilarious. after 3 movies, even though i loved the 2nd film, they can't get the spidey i know and love right. for a villain, I would go with kraven the hunter. oh ya, have spidey use impact webbing and actually cocooning enemies in webbing. haven't seen either yet.

That's what I like about it. Who says that every superhero movie has to be this epic, life changing thing in which the end result is the biggest battle ever. That kind of thinking is what got SM3 in trouble in the first place. If it had just been about Sandman, maybe they could have pulled off a compelling film... but they had to take it further. They needed the fireworks, and it ruined the whole thing.
I'd love to see a movie in which the Lizard gets loose and roams around the sewers of New York. Kraven goes underneath to hunt him, and Spiderman has to find both of them, because the Lizard is actually a person he cares about personally. That way, we could have a really dark, suspenseful, action packed movie. Although I'd love to see Spiderman take to the sky in battle more and more... I think SM4 has to ground itself.
