Guys, I wanna play Football.
But it's Minnesota. And cold. How can I make it not cold so people will play Football with me?

Play football outdoors in all that snow you have, I used to love doing that

My vacation officially begins today. So for the next two weeks or so I shall indulge (within reason hopefully haha...) in whatever I feel like, but will keep training throughout.

Anybody else giving themselves a "break" over the holidays?

I've been on a bit of a break since mid October. I don't lift weights, I really just run, from January to October ran 2 half marathons, 2 full marathon, a number of 5-8k's as well. So told myself I would take a break after my last marathon (Chicago), ease off the running to 2-3 days a week (down from 4) and no more than 5 miles/run. All that changes after the new year though when training begins again for a spring marathon.

I'd love to actually run a full marathon. It's a major goal of mine.

You should start training then, go to halhigdon.com, he's got plenty of great plans. Although if you haven't run in a race before, I'd suggest a step up program, a 5 or 8k to start, get used to what it's like to be in the race atomsphere, then a half marathon and finally then go for the full. It's daunting to think about at first, but as long as you stick to the training plan, you'll be ready. It does start sucking up a lot of free time about halfway through as the runs get longer and longer.

Does anyone take any PWO's? I just picked up a tub of Jack3d to try to get some more energy after long work days both in and out of the office. So far I'm liking it alot, taken it for my past four workouts and have noticed a definite increase in focus and energy. Pumps are pretty good also

Spider-Nerd and I are the PWO junkies around hereI guess. Jack3d is good, but sadly underdosed IMO. I liked the longevity of the pump, but the intensity was a bit lacking. I weigh a decent amount so I didn't really feel much till I got up to 3 scoops so my container didn't last long :(.

The PWOs I stand behind are MRI's Black Powder and Controlled Labs' White Flood. But in actuality, you could get by with a few scoops of BCAAs and a caffeine pill as your PWO. Less expensive and no "proprietary blends" to worry about.

I actually found jack3d for around 20 bucks for a tub and I'm doing about one and a half scoops at the moment. That's a pretty decent price per serving for my needs. Plus the tingles let you know it's working! Freaked me out the first time.

I like to take those in the parking lot of my gym b/c they work so quickly on me. One time, I took a PWO and got stuck in traffic. Thought I was gonna eat my steering wheel.

So I tried shadow boxing in between sets during my chest/bicep workout. WOW ... still had DOMS 36 hours later.

Me smaaashing Christmas lunch just before. Must have had about 10 plates! Haha... Was sooo good man :).

Ooooh & here's dessert. Christmas cake w/ custard, Pavlova cake, warm fruit & ice cream. Mmmmmmm...

Haha. Got my work cut out for me after this holiday season. But I'm cool with that!

Im still planning to try Jack3d sometime!

Hurm...it appears that Christmas food differs a lot across the globe.

In other news, most of you guys know I am a pullup ****e. Well, I added yet another pullup bar to my arsenal (I think this makes 5 now) . It is an aluminum fabricated deal that I bought from a guy on ebay for a very good price.

Anyways, here are a few pics of it set up.

and with a set of rings attached...

OH god I love rings. They are so awesome. On the PWO supp note, I'll say different strokes for different folks. Try to find one that works best for you that you don't adapt to as quickly. Jack3d is not bad, it's a little light on the ingredients but the flip side of that is there isn't as much of adaptation to it as with other PWO supps. Personally I'm not a huge fan of white flood, but if it works for you go for it.

As to black powder, I've never tried it myself but I've heard good things. Do try to stay away from noxplode. It's a caffeine rush that will not last and is as good on the digestive tract as about 50g of fiber.

Yeah rings are an awesome tool. Hundreds of exercises, portable and cheap!
I have the CFF rings (pictured) and Xtreme Rings.

Black Powder did nothing for me. I recently picked up a sample of Vasacore (spelling?), which is also the name for a cholesterol or high blood pressure medicine or something. I would think they could have thought of a better name. I havent tried it yet. Possibly this week.

Animal Pump is another PWO I support

Hurm...need to try this as well. Ive heard good things.

I gave myself 1 week off but it's turned into 2 weeks. But its all good, Ive been working out like crazy all year with no more than 7 days off periodically.

Well, I took a month off from the gym due to being too exhausted after work. The holiday season involves a lot of overtime, and my job is physical enough as it is. I was losing fat just by showing up to work every day. With my work schedule going back to normal tomorrow, it's time to head back to the gym to gain back some of the muscle I've no doubt lost.

mrvlknight21: Yeah man, Christmas cuisine differs everywhere you go. Nice set-up there by the way.

ObakeTora: I'm sure you'll be fine in that case.

Technically speaking Ice Cream is not that bad. It's the sugar that craps you, if you can control for that, it's not that bad. An apple is arguably worse.

Duuude do HITT and never look back. Not like your cardio will be an worse either. The increased oxidative stress prematurely ages you, AND it screws with your testosterone and cortisol ratios.

To those who have tried P90X - did you like the entire program, or just parts of it? I am really loving the Ab Ripper workout, and am debating on buying the whole program with the resistance bands.

I liked it alot, but it takes up alot of time. I used it to kick my butt back in shape, then I started going back to the gym. I still do the ab ripper exercises though, stuff works! Being a pretty unflexible guy due to knee surgeries, I found the yoga to be one of the tougher things to do on it.

I just saw a commercial for these "Ripfire" pills and laughed my ass off. Has anyone else seen this? The transformation they claim to possible in 2 weeks so ludicrous....
