It's not really "in" in Hollywood to be big. LL Cool J and 50 Cent are the only "entertainers" I can think of that are sporting huge muscles.

Then there's Michael Jai White, but that man is a machine

I'm not overly impressed with most Hollywood bods, either. They usually just drop a bunch of bodyfat rather than building actual muscle. And I KNOW I'm stronger than 9/10's of them.

Will Smith impressed me in I am Legend with the exception of his horrible form on those pull ups they showed him doing. He better not have been doing that in the gym:oldrazz: (But I hear he has chicken legs).

I think Matthew Mcconaughey is certainly one of Hollywood's legitimately buff. I also have been impressed with the efforts of Matt Damon for the Bourne movie series. He's a short and small guy naturally. He's not big, but he's worked into an athletes physique.

Nathan Fillion is bigger than people give him credit for as well.

I see a lot of poor muscle development trends in Hollywood though. One is to ignore the back and legs. I see a ton of celebrities whose shoulder start to roll forward because they ignore their back and focus largely on the chest. They rarely have that widst and depth that comes from doing heavy deads and seated rows. Ryan Reynold's actually has an underdeveloped back IMO. I also though Thomas Jane looked like an dainty underwear model in Punisher, but I heard he's kept training, so kudos to him.

You're right though, big is not "in" anymore. Hollywood used to be filled with Steve Reeves, Rock Hudson, Reg Pak, Dave Draper, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and all those golden age builders...the real man's mens. Now it's all about being small and a little metro *shrug*.

Haha, I cringed at his behind-the-neck pullups too :D

Will's weight has fluctuated a lot for movies. Bulked up a ton for Ali, got cut for I Robot, and now he's at a happy medium.

I'd be surprised if they were stronger, but I've seen some small f***ers lift major weight before and totally blow my expectations of their strength out the window. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt until I actually "see" them lift, but yeah...I'd say I'm stronger than about 9/10s of them as well.

You're right about celebrities neglecting their backs. Legs have always been an unpopular muscle group.

I'm a short guy, but I lift more than guys twice my size on a consistent basis and that was even before I really got big. I learned to never to gauge a person's strength based on their size quite some time ago.

As for underdeveloped physiques, I find MOST people neglect their legs and their backs. People in Hollywood do it because they intend to have their front facing the camera at all times, I guess.

Horrible ROM. Using his legs to create momentum. Destroying his shoulders. That was the scariest part of the whole movie:wow: :csad: :wow: :csad: *hides eyes*

Yeah. I gotta give him credit though, he comes from being a real small guy. Just yesterday though I saw pictures of his legs while being suspended for Tonight, He Comes! and he had chicken legs. He needs to hit that squat rack and calf raise stat.

I'm reminded of my friends in College. I asked them their weight routines, the follow up 9/10 times would be "well, what do you do for legs?" They'd respond "well I run", then I buried my head in my hands and sighed.

Yeah, something like that.

Wait, he was doing behind-the-neck pullups in the movie? That's a TERRIBLE exercise. Great way to f**k yourself up. :down

You get that too, huh? It's a classic. The irony of it is that usually it also implied they didn't run very much or very hard. I knew my roommates run was about a mile and not much more. Of course over the summer he was jacked to sh** and I just missed it:o

Haha! "Dude, you should have been here like....a month ago. I was HYOOGE and RIPPED!!!!!!!"

I never even know how to respond when people hit me with that. I become a living, breathing dry smiley

Another JStorm classic line. He always says "Look at my legs. I dont need to do anything for them."
Then we do a set of bodyweight squats and he cant get more than 30.

My cardio work doesn't involve a lick of running and I've got definition, vascularity and size. My leg work relies around a lot of plyometric and isolation work. Look at most runners - do they really have the legs that people idolize? No.

Hey, good to see you around, ya big bastard! :)

Back in the house! Made big changes in the workout gameplan. As the visible face of the record label for our Chicago office, I had to morph into something slightly less physically intimidating and more able to fit into designer duds. Tough life, but I'm dealing with it! :)

Been doing a mix of kickboxing, cardio, interval training, plyometrics, and weight training. I'm down to 220lb but it's lean as hell! :wow:

You were looking like Suge White for awhile, eh? Hahaha! :D

I can still fill out a muscle shirt. The shoulders seem to grow no matter what I do and I'm okay with that.

Just finished another quickie: supersets of seated calf raises/donkey calves raises ~ 4 sets of 35 of each. My calves burn so much it feels like someone sprayed lighter fluid on them and threw a match!

Also did 2 sets of 10 of pull ups; 2 sets of 10 of chin ups- palms facing away from me; and 2 sets of 10 regular chin ups.

Okay, there's something I have trouble with right there. Any chin-up/pull-up tips for a guy who has completely lost the ability to do them?
