Iron Man 3 The Official IM3 Trailer Thread! - Part 1

well I'm working midnight to 8am tonight I just hope to wake up in time to get online lol

I don't see the problem with Tony making a suit to combat the Hulk if he rages again. Just because Banner has it under control 99% of the time doesn't mean Tony can't take precautions for diffusing the situation the 1% it does happen. Safety first.

Yeah a Hulk buster suit makes sense.

Tony might be nice but he ain't stupid.

I'm bettin' Bruce and Tony left the Avengers and built that together

Well, Stark tried to battle Hulk in the hulkbuster suit in the world war hulk storyline and if i remember correctly he lasted about 10 secs..lol.

Yeah, it's kind of a running joke. I don't think ANY version of the Hulkbuster armor has been able to do much more than make it take Hulk a bit longer to kick Iron Man's ass. That's what happens when you face an opponent with no power limitations(or at least not much since I guess time required to anger-up/get stronger would in fact be a limiting variable) with technology that is finite in what it can do, no matter how powerful it starts off at.

I think the best Iron Man has ever fared against Hulk is the lucky shot he one time laid on him in the 1970's or 1980's while wearing the Mark III(I think) and knocked the Hulk out(who must've been having an off day) and drained IM's power so much that he almost died afterward.

I love the Hulkbuster because of what it implies. Stark being very proactive in trying to anticipate and develop contingencies for multiple scenarios.

I don't think the Hulkbuster would do much against Hulk anyways, maybe slow him down, thats about all he could hope for, lol.

I think his Thorbuster would stand a better chance of success since Thor's power level is for the most part unchanging.

Exactly. I've been trying to avoid spoilers for the most part, but it seems like Iron Man 3 will depict a post-Avengers Tony as spending all his time obsessively building suits for every possibility and I really like that.

This thread is growing kinda slow at the moment.

In about 15 hours it's gonna be ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!

*stares at clock*

to me, hulkbuster does not make much sense in the comics. why would tony try and go toe to toe with the hulk when his regular armor has the advantage of being way more nimble?

he could fly around hulk, blasting him from a safe distance, or hit him with a knock out gas or something.

thinking that the way to stop him is to try and match his unmatchable strength is pretty dumb if you ask me.

True, but I don't Hulk would give any attention to repulser rays. He'd take one look at Iron Man up in the air and then continue wreaking havoc. With the Hulkbuster armour, Hulk will have an obstacle to go through at least.

The thing is that we as the readers know Hulk's power is infinite, but people in-universe except for more cosmic beings don't. They always think there's something out there that can beat him if need be. A few of them have figured it out on their own and figured it's best to just leave him be or try to keep him pacified.

makes more sense if it is aimed to distract rather than beat.

Or at least slow down the Hulk with assistance from other team members.

Maybe they should re-name it, "Hulk-staller".

the part in the trailer [BLACKOUT]where stark puts on his suit during the mansion attack [/BLACKOUT] reminded me of this:[YT]0xyDyDfOlHc[/YT]

around 0:24

I think his Thorbuster would stand a better chance of success since Thor's power level is for the most part unchanging.

True, he would still lose in the end after a hard fought battle.

After Thor juiced him up 4X as powerful as he normally is. Granted, he's moved on to more powerful armors since then.

But as to your querry I think the answer lies in the Superbowl IM3 trailer. Powerful armor is one thing but it's no substitute for not being able to be in more than one place at a time. Just like Tony(in armor) can easily handle all the weight of those falling people but that doesn't mean that's all it takes to solve that problem.

He was fairing pretty well before the juice up so I don't see why that matters.

Except he didn't build the Legion to take on enhanced humans. Stark has been holed up in his basement since the Battle for New York build suits for all occasions. I just so happens that this is the first time they need to be used.

I never said he created them for enhanced humans, I said why would he NEED them for enhanced humans.

There is a difference in Tony's Asgardian armor and Thor Buster.
Thor Buster is powered by Asgardian energy Thor gave to Tony to replicate for Earth's use.
Asgardian armor is what Tony makes in Asgard using the Dwarve's forges.

Edit: tho in the movieverse I'm not sure what Tony would use for the armor seeing as nothing Asgardian other than the Destroyer has been left behind

actually guys, in WWH stark was sorta taking it to Hulk for a little while..

who remembers the Thorbuster. That was ridiculous, and honestly was a slap in the face to Ironman fans. Making an armor to fight King Thor?? He was an overpowered monster, and no ironman suit is even challenging a Sky Father..these *characterbuster* armors are a joke, and a slap in the face to ironman fans, I tihnk

thor was a skyfather at the time lol
