The Official Kevin Durand/Blob Discussion Thread

BTW: the poster in the background, Ray Perez, he was a boxer in the 50's
(though, he continue to fight into the late 60's)

so, that could be given us an idea, timeline wise

Or the poster could be old and it could actually take place in the 70s and up

ya, I throught of that, too
(actually said that in the post originally, but, edited out, idk, why)
though, I figured, why would they go out of there way, to put an out of date period piece poster up?

but, I just throught, I'd throw it out there as an lil detail, anyway

Its just a poster, put up so people can get the vibe of the situation in the movie.

As i can see there aren't many characters in wolverine.I think this is nice because in x-men 3 we saw the mistake of creating too many chars and seeing maximum of 1-2 scenes for everyone (except main ones)which i think is stupid.I hope all the cameos in wolverine got nice screen time and not just 1-2 scenes just to ensure they are in the movie.I hope the blob has his own role and kicks some butt.

Yes i am huge fan of Blob and since he is also marvel character whati is the problem of being his fan?For me he is very interesting character and has a lot potential to develop.I really hope in wolverine we see more than 10-15 mins of screen time for blob

Im thinking they really asked themselves which characters we hadnt seen yet and then wrote scenes to accomodate whoever it is, so dont hold too much hope for the blob to do something great. Same with Gambit for that matter. But hey, i could be wrong, this movie is lookin better than i thought it would.

I gurantee you he has 15 minutes top of screentime so dont get your hope up

He's going to kick Wolverine's ass. That's for sure.

Kevin Durand!

He was so badass on LOST:hehe:

...what's to prevent this from being looked at as fat bastard from austin powers?

I think I am a fan too. I don't know the character too well yet but I like the trailer footage. He seems like an interesting character.

All of the characters will do well I think because it appears they are really taking the material seriously like Batman Begins. Making characters adult and removing all camp, it works wonders.

I want to know more about that boxing match Blob has with Wolvie. Is it a test for one of them? Or sport? You can see Wraith off to the side watching the fight and seemingly hosting it with a mic. Looks cool to me.

I'm not a big fan, but he's been a staple in the X-Men universe as far as memorable villains go. He hasn't been given much of a backstory or a rich history like the others, but he's always been around.

I'm very interested to see what happens with him.

Meh, i prefer Avalanche and Pyro. Blob always seemed so cliche to me. But who knows? Maybe they made him interesting in this film.

I was looking up some more info on Blob. Here are some highlights:

-The Blob (Frederick J. Dukes) is a Marvel Comics supervillain, an adversary of the X-Men.

-The Blob claims to be unmovable. He possesses an extreme amount of pliable body mass, which grants him superhuman strength and his own gravitational pull. Possessing the mindset of a bully, he mostly uses his powers for petty crime.

-The Blob's mutant physiology grants him a number of advantages. He has superhuman strength, endurance, and great resiliency to physical injury due to a further mutation. The Blob's elastic, blubbery skin has proven to be difficult to penetrate by gunfire, missiles, and even Wolverine's claws; though with sufficient force and a favorable angle, the claws can lacerate his flesh.

-He can also alter his personal mono-directional gravity field beneath himself to make himself virtually immovable as long as he is in contact with the ground, although an incredible force can uproot him, along with a chunk of whatever he is standing on.

-Despite his morbidly obese appearance, the Blob's speed and agility is that of a fairly athletic male of normal stature, a fact which frequently catches his opponents by surprise.

-The Blob's superhuman strength has greatly increased over the years, in a manner similar to that of the Thing. This improvement is said to be a result of his ongoing mutation.

-The Blob is vulnerable to attacks directed at his face, as his eyes, nose, mouth and ears do not have the same protection as the rest of his body. Dukes is also susceptible to psionic attacks and psychic manipulation, and he can be incapacitated by sensory assaults.

-While he is all but invulnerable to direct kinetic attacks, such as punches, kicks or gunshots, he is susceptible to concussions and other harm resulting from sufficiently powerful impacts.

-Dukes can be incapacitated by drinking alcohol, although due to his immense mass, it requires a great amount.

I only hope that blob is not just shown here for 2 mins...I felt really dissapointed with the juggernaut's role in x-men 3 and i hope this doesnt happen again with the blob.I dont say blob must have as much screen time as wolverine but aleast they can make his role important as gambit or other mutants. However i have some concerns that he will be one of just characters made to fill up some time in the movie...Only the boxing match and thats it...No more action from him.

You surely do not expect Blob to be a main character?

He's just there to add some flavour of the X-Men's universe and deep mythology.

I think that's edited. In the real scene, Logan must dodge the punch and get K.O.ed later on.
