The Official Kevin Durand/Blob Discussion Thread

I never knew about this until reading this thread. Now I am excited:]

Hopefully Deadpool will get his own solo movie after being in this one.

Hopefully Deadpool will get his own solo movie after being in this one.

He can't carry his own film.

As a character, he can, but he has zero world-wide appeal and no one has any clue who Deadpool is.

Even if that's true, people will know who he is after seeing this.

And it really won't even matter if someone like Ryan Reynolds is playing him. There've been countless movies made where nobody has really heard of the character before. Blade spawned 3 films and most people had no idea who the hell he was or that it was even a comic. People appreciate the material and the characters, it doesn't matter if they're well known or not.

Pretty weak argument, if you ask me.

Blade has someone like Wesley Snipes portraying him, and because he was known as an action star, and as all three were action-oriented, they saw the film. Because the screenplay and film were well made, the franchise was launched.

Deadpool is tougher to handle. You have to write an excellent, almost out of this world screenplay for the character, combined with an awesome director and an even better cast. They'd have to be lucky.

If they can do it, I'm all for it.

Its good to hear you're excited Wade! But what didn't you know about? Deadpool's involvement or the Japanese Prison Camp?

'Cause none of us knew about Japan until earlier this week.

I think he's more excited about Deadpool being included.

I disagree. If Ryan Reynolds does end up playing DP, that's an instant seller right there. Reynolds is huge right now, and since DP is a comedic and action oriented role, it'd definately land people in the seats.

And Deadpool's character is great. His comics are awesome, he's got great one liners, and the action could be superb. I don't think you're really giving the material enough credit.

Well, given the involvement of Japan, I think there is also a strong chance that The Silver Samurai may be making his debut as well...

My guess is, that if he is in the movie, he'll be the guy running the Prison Camp. It'll give the story a real Rambo/Missing In Action feel. Wolverine and Sabretooth make a break for it...

The whole thing is ****in BADASS.

There were rumors of Silver Samurai being in the movie back in '07 when the Blob rumors started. Now we know Japan is in, so its definetely a possibility.

He's been part of the film for a very, very long time. This doesn't come as a shock that they would keep him until the end.

I found Jackson's ["we're also keeping more cameos of mutants"] more appealing.

That's what's appealing about this film. The fact that Gavin Hood is interested in having Deadpool and Gambit appear. (Come on, we all know they will appear.)
if Deadpool is in it...man, I don't even care about Wolverine anymore:oldrazz:
to stay on topic...I think Blob would be kinda like the one from X-Men Legends. it's all I can picture.

I never doubted the original material, I doubted how the audience would react to him as a character. Ryan has never been an action star, only a comedic one, and although he may rave about the loving the character, that doesn't say anything about his performance.

I have limited knowledge about Deadpool as a character, but isn't he behind a mask entirely and can't show his face?

maybe before.
but in Cable & Deadpool, he shows his face pretty much. always drinking or eating something. and when it's torn, too. great comic-book.

Cable & Deadpool is so awesome. If you haven't read it, I suggest doing so because it really shows the potential for DP and what a great character he is.

And Ryan Reynolds has done action before in Blade 3 and Smokin Aces. He'd put people in the seats even if he was playing a wooden chair.

Wade, I don't know exactly what characters from the miniseries or other Wolverine adventures have made it into the film's Japan plot, but I'm sure it'll be close to nothing because he's stuck in a prison in the outskirts of Japan. I think the "Japan Adventure" might go down in the Part II that Gavin Hood talked about possibly doing. I like that they're giving us a glimpse of Japan that may even be the source of Wolverine's interest for coming back. If not, why would he go to Japan in a second film?

Reynolds has made a name for himself as a comedy/drama actor, not an action star. He had one action scene in Smokin Aces, and it wasn't the best one. Martin Henderson takes credit for that. Blade: Trinity was very unimpressive (except his physique) and so was Amityville Horror.

People remember Reynolds from Van Wilder, Waiting, and Just Friends. Now he's got Definetely, Maybe coming out.

He's not a bankable action star but because Deadpool would be 60% comic relief, I'd say he fits the part.

They might need him to carry a solo marvel solo film . I think reynolds could train a couple months and pull off a good action performance or use a stand in.

I love Deadpool as a character. He'd be awesome to see on the screen.

I keep thinking that a solo film would be churned out and end up like Daredevil.

I found the director's cut of daredevil to be a good movie. I never liked Affleck as DD, but what can you do.

Point is, if done right DP could work. I'd like to see it. But, yeah they might butcher him too.

Someone flip a coin, or get me Aaron Eckhardt.

I always thought Deadpool to be like Shoot 'Em Up + Rush Hour.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the idea of all these mutant cameos? The Blob, Deadpool, Gambit...I mean it's suppose to be a Wolverine solo movie, not X-men 4. This just means one thing. All these great characters are going to be hastily introduced, terribly under-used and all-around messed up just like Juggernaut, Angel and Colossus in X3.

I guess the fans wanna see lots of characters and the studio and the writers feel the pressure to deliver. But I afraid they just end up hurting the movie. If you can't do the character justice, then you shouldn't do him/her at all.
