The Official LittleBigPlanet Thread

Game is gonna be 2 years old. Why is it a bad idea?

Uh...

"This time around, you'll be able to create your own RPGs, FPS, platformers, racers, and any type of game genre you can think of. Instead of simple making minor enhancements here and there, Media Molecule has crafted a totally new experience and has certainly made the next installment worthy of being labeled a true sequel."

No way. I refuse to believe that until I see it. 2 years is not enough time to give us something THAT big.

Jamie, how dare you create the sequel to the thread I made. How. Dare. You.

Anyhoo, I really dont feel like I've payed LBP1 as much as I should have, kinda suprising to see a sequel so soon.

Now you know how I felt when someone made the U2 thread. :(

But hey, I got Metal Gear!

Wow, I like that all DLC from LBP will be transferable here.

Wow, I like that all DLC from LBP will be transferable here.

Now see, this was what I had trouble with before, and why from what I've read (if it turns out to be true) is why I will gladly eat humble pie and buy the second game. To me, in my mind, LBP was purely a platformer title. That's why I was against a sequel so soon. I thought it'd be LBP with slightly spiffier graphics, a few new tools, and Move functions. Then on top of that all of the cool levels the community made in LBP 1, and the DLC, all of that wouldn't be carried over (which is the case in most games). I just couldn't see what 2 could offer that 1 couldn't via a patch.

This however, this all changes that. It even makes sense. That LBP was never meant to be limited to one genre, but rather a multi-purpose level designer that let you make the game you wanted. I could actually see ppl making a functioning Space Invaders, or some form of action RPG of sorts. Now that, that makes me even more excited for this than I was when I got the original the first time around. I'm a big fan of these create tools, and LOVED RPG Maker. If they give us some form of tools that expands a bit more and allows us to somewhat delve into a deeper gameplay creation like that, awesome.

I mean don't get me wrong, with the tools it already has ppl have created some absolutely awesome levels. It's just that tools that allow you to create a level in a totally different genre without skirting around the limits of whats possible in the confines of a platform style...that's more what I want.

I'll keep listening in on this. However if the above turns out to be 100% accurate, then count me as officially psyched for this game.

You guys think this could possibly come out this year? With so much stuff added, it seems like it may take a while to get out, BUT MM really hasnt released much DLC for LBP so they could have been working on this for a while

One thing I hope they fix is the network capabilities. The game got slow when trying to play online with multiple people and had too much lag with 4. The Create, Share, Play counter was an interesting concept but never worked. Im not sure if they ever got that fixxed. Finding and sorting levels could be easier to make things faster. I wouldnt mind if they added an option to go through them with a text menu, rather than the graphic interface they have now with the planets and multiple pages. It looks nice but it can be slow.

Winter 2010!!!

I’m pleased to share some exciting news involving our crafty, stitched-together character we all know and love – that’s right, I’m talking about the one and only Sackboy. Today, we are officially announcing that our cloth friend and all of his fellow Sack-people will be back for a completely new adventure in LittleBigPlanet 2, which will be released later this year for PS3!
LittleBigPlanet established the Play, Create, Share creative gaming genre and we can’t thank the fans and critics enough for the praise and support we’ve received. The game continues to grow and evolve, helped by countless players around the globe. In fact, the sharing nature of the game has become so embraced, it has attracted fans to publish more than two million levels to the PlayStation Network since the award-winning game was released!
So, what can you expect from LittleBigPlanet 2?
First of all, it’s developed by Media Molecule, the extremely talented team that brought you the first game, so you know you’re going to get a special experience. LittleBigPlanet 2 will provide a whole new collection of tools and rules for fans to Play, Create, and Share, including an evolved approach to control and customization that has never been seen before.
LittleBigPlanet has always empowered users to create their own levels by utilizing the same tools as the development team. Now in LittleBigPlanet 2, we’ve upped the ante, giving players the ability to not only make better levels, but completely new games – think top-down racing games, multiplayer shooters, flying side-scrollers, RPGs, etc. The possibilities are really endless.
LBP2 will also have a loads of new features, including revamped graphics, a fresh storyline, added accessories and equipment for Sackboy, and much, much more – trust me I’m only scratching the surface here!

The new trailer is at the link. All of the user created levels from the first one can still be accessed in the this one.

That's more or less my feelings, too. That seems like a very big check to cash

The game looks incredible, the fact that you can create so many different genres in the same game is just mind boggling, add to that over 2 million levels already in existence and you basically start off with however many levels the game comes with and all I can say is WOW!!!:awesome::up:

Sony definitely started with a bang and looks like they are gonna end with a boom.
So far we've had MAG Heavy Rain God of War III and Modnation Racers coming up this month we still have Socom 4 Last Guardian and Gran Turismo 5 and possibly LittleBigPlanet2

Who knows what else they have planned this year as well. Twisted Metal maybe? E3 will be very telling. I think Sony will try as hard as they can to keep their momentum going and soften the blow Halo Reach will have to it. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

As far as LBP2 goes, it looks amazing. If they can pull off what they are promising, it's a day one purchase for me.

They definetly have piqued my interests. Heavy Rain was my most anticipated title of the year and I didnt really feel there was anythign announced that I was really looking forward to. LBP2 definetly is on my list and I look forward to E3 for more 2010 release announcements

Wow, this game may just make me spend my tax refund on a PS3. :awesome:
I loved the first game, and this just adds to the awesomeness.
