I wish this was like ten years ago, Charisma Carpenter would've made a great Lois. I think she may be a bit too old now, though...

Just saw her in The Expendables. Yep, she's too old now.

And she's really not that good of an actress.

Maybe that's because The Expendables was literally the biggest piece of **** movie in the past 2000 years. :o

Is it any fun like the Seagal or Norris movies, or is it an utter waste of time?

Waste of time

It's not a waste of time and is entertaining. If you like action films then this is no disappointment.

What I just said lol. If you are asking if it is worth watching by comparing it to Seagal and Norris films then YES you will like it. There are wtf moments, that could've been fixed by having a "writer" and not Stallone look over the final film, but I think....HOPE that will be remedied in the sequel. Also, I could've done without the cgi blood. I mean the blood and special FXs in the 80s-90s was far better than this 2K stuff. What happened???? When did Hollywood decide that PG13 was the new Rated R? Yeah, more money can be made from parents who let their tweens and preteens go off to the movie theaters so they can have some alone time, but not at the sacrifice that a classic Rated R film would bring from the right amount of violence, vulgarity, and gratuitous nudity offer lol.

I do like action films, and for the talent that was working on the movie, it was a huge disappointment. I'm not saying story points or acting was horrible or anything, the action was extremely blah; especially considering the action from the past movies of its action movie all-star cast.
So yes, it was a waste of time, even for action lovers. If you need an action fix, watch Machete.

I just want to see a movie with all the badasses blowing **** up and saying hilarious one liners. Not another Rambo 4 (i mean the last one - it was the 4th right?) which was crap btw.

If that is what you want then that is what you will get. No it's not the pice de resistance I was hoping it would be given the cast & talent, as Majik said, but it was entertaining and worth renting or owning.

@Majik1387 I agree it could have been much more better. It should have been the greatest action film ever given the cast and the experience that was present, but sadly it was not. However, that doesn't mean that it's not worth watching or any good. It just didn't live up to the hype. So I do agree with you there. Nevertheless, Mr. Earle asked if it was up to par with Seagal and Norris films.....Seagal and Norris! In that sense then yes it is worth seeing, renting, or owning!

The sequel better be a whole lot better given the cast, budget, and time to improve on the previous' shortcomings.

I like The Expendables, but I do agree that it could've been better. Hopefully the sequel will be.

Ok, so I've read this thread a few pages back now and if names like Jessica Stroup and Ashley Greene are getting thrown out there, then I'm going to take advantage of the relaxed mood here and suggest Emmanuelle Chriqui.

I was referring to the bland, one-note performances that have dominated her entire career. For someone named Charisma, it would serve her well to acquire some.

Here's my manip for my favorite Lois, Keri Russell:

She's already matured past her Felicity days and lost some of that innocent gaze. She's beautiful but not supermodel beautiful, very down to Earth as Lois should be. She can look both vulnerable and defiant, playful and funny (just look at some recent Youtube interviews).

Plus she's used to dealing with emotional conflicts in her roles and I'm sure she could pull off intrepid reporter. Don't cast a stunningly beautiful and hot Lois, that's just not someone Superman would fall in love with. It's Lois' flaws that make her so irresistibly human, and a perfect goddess face/body would just ruin that.

Just Perfect!

I agree.
Good point, but i dunno, she looks like a ginger to me. She has freckles and a terribly white skin and then she has a round face with cutesy details, basically everything you dont want in Lois.

Looks wise i think Stroup is perfect for it. She just embodies the perfect look for the character. But that's only looks because i know nothing else about her.

So going for a more serious choice, I think Mc Adams would make a great Lois.

Btw, i like Wilde just as the next guy, but i dont think she'd be good for it. I just have never seen her do the bubbly, charismatic girl and her demeanor tells me that she wont be able to pull it off well. She also has that serious "i'm bored to death right now" voice so i just cant see her embodying the L&C/STAS Lois that i'd like to see.

Agree with everything you've said.

I'm a massive Stroup fan, but I do understand if they decide they have to go for a famous actress as Lois so that they can have an unknown as Superman and still have some a listers in the mix.

McAdams is the ONLY lead actress that I like for the role. Everyone has something that puts me off, but McAdams has the personality, enough of a good look, and a popularity with both teenagers and adults alike.

P.s. Doesn't she look so much like Erica Durance in that last pic? Not important, just thought i'd point it out.

While someone like McAdams would be great for LL, my hopes aren't high.

More than likely we'll get someone from left field (close to Blake Lively's age) as Lois. Wouldn't surprise me.

Hopefully it's an actual brunette this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not.

Nope.

McAdams is actually attractive.

Never mind, for some reason the picture I was talking about has dissapeared anyway...

But Erica Durance being an attractive idividual is hardly an opinion...it's a fact. Not coming from some Smallville fan geek, or a pre teen boy... just an objective 23 year old girl.

Don't think attractiveness is ever "factual." There are indisputable elements of beauty, which Durance may have, but I don't find her remotely pretty (18 y.o. guy). McAdams on the other hand...
