Interesting Choice if its true. I think he will play a great Sinestro.

I think what I See Spidey is really getting at is that some actors who are good in small dramas aren't necessarily good when it comes to blockbusters. Liam Neeson and Alfred Molina can do both, but someone like Charlize Theron can't.

None of these guys besides Reynolds, who's never been in a good one, has shown to be good at blockbuster movies.
I said nothing of the sort and I disagree with you about Theron and just about everything else.

I was saying that people put too much stock in big names. Big names don't equal quality.

Name one blockbuster she's been in that was good. She's amazing in stuff like Monster or North Country. Not so much Hancock or Aeon Flux.
The problems with those movies were the scripts. If Charlize Theron is handed a good script that's a blockbuster then I would get what your saying but the blockbuster scripts handed to her have been bad. Not by her fault

I'm already warming up to the idea of mark strong playing sinestro. I'm excited to see him in costume.

I just have to say it:

I thought Spacey was terrible in Superman Returns and I wasn't happy about him being cast as Lex Luthor.

And was Molina really A-list, in any sense of the word, before Spider-Man 2?

Spacey was excellent as Lex Luthor. The problem with Luthor lies completely in the script, not with Spacey since Spacey had to play the exact same campy Lex Luthor that Gene Hackman played.

If Spacey was a more serious Lex, it would have been perfect.

I like it. He seems really well suited. Still... Jason Isaacs would've been ideal.

Agreed, but Strong also has the arrogant aristocratic presence that I think Sinestro requires and not the dirty gringy presence that Jackie Earle Haley provides.

Decent choice. It's not final yet. Maybe there is still time for them to realise what some see as obvious....Hugo Weaving was BORN to play Sinestro. You're blind if you can't see it. Mark would be a great #2 choice tho.

Even though Hugo would be good but shouldn't you be - I don't know - a little bit grateful here with Strong?

This is fantastic news. Strong is awesome.

The casting for this movie has been great so far (yes, even Blake). I'm really looking forward to see who they get for Alan Scott.

Strong is beyond awesome and a great character actor, indeed.

I can't wait for his roles in Kick-Ass and Robin Hood.

can anyone tell me Martin Campbell's real age?

at imdb, it states he was born in 1940 (making him 70 by October) and on wikipedia, it says he was born in 1944.

Mark Strong is terrific, but I confess I felt Haley would be more imponent and menacing.

I could not be happier with this decision. I confess I never would've thought of him until I saw the support on the Hype boards but I loved the decision. I kept an eye on Strong ever since Tristan and Isolde, and I also loved him in Stardust, Rockarolla and Body of lies. I hope he gets it.

Not to knock Jackie Earle Haley, but I can see a better chemistry between Reynolds and Strong.

I would have perfered JEH too but what can you do.

I'm ofcourse going to give Mark Strong a fair shot just I try to give everyother actor one.

I thought spacey seemed as bored and uninterested as the cast of Spider-Man 3.

Take from that comment what you will.

I dunno how anyone could prefer JEH, to be honest.

Strong is just as good an actor and he suits Sinestro much better.
