The first half is great, then it all falls apart very quickly... Talk about a movie that didn't need a villain!

that's how I feel about Danny's other modern classic 28 Days Later. I'm not saying it's a bad movie either, but it just kinda falls apart near the end. well, i thought so.

In an article in TV Guide about The Human Target show it talks about co-star Jackie Earl Haley and mentions his upcoming work in " Shutter Island" and " Green Lantern". It doesn't mention what his role is but he has been mentioned for Sinestro.

He was probably addressing the sinestro rumor he was apart of a few months back.

Are they going to do anything to make Sinestro's ill intentions less obvious? Particularly, HIS NAME? I mean, they could just put a lampshade on it, but I'm not sure how effective that will be will the non-fan audience. I mean, it's like "duh, he's got red skin, yellow eyes, looks like friggin' Satan, and his name is Sinestro. How did they let this guy into the GL Corps in the first place?" :p

Maybe pronouncation of his name is key.

I always read it as Sinestro, with the 'Sinest' part alluding to the word 'Sinister' [which, as you say, hardly a name you would trust, a name consisting of the word sinister :hehe: ]

Perhaps if they pronounced it like Sin-estro [with a small pause between words] it wouldnt be so obvious. Still obvious, granted, just not as obvious.

for years, I pronounced his name wrong, as "SIN -es - tro". But in First Flight and other incarnations of Sinestro, it was pronounced "Si- Nest-Ro". (So the Si seperated from NEST."

I hope they go with "Si-Nest-Tro".

It's like Abin Sur. Maybe separate it so it don't sound THAT blatant. If it's his family name, even better, so you know he's just a random nutball in a world of good Kouragarnians.

That sounds even better.

Remember kid: Si-Nest-Tro. It sounds less obvious until you see his name in the credits.

The thing about Sinestro is that he's very Silver Age, which is a part his charm. He's blatantly evil looking with an evil name: red skin, mustache, and widows peak.

i have always thought its sin-est-ro in pronouncing the name.

nope. Sah-Nest-Throw!

In the script, he had a first name 'Thah'. I wonder if they gonna keep it.

Do you know what's so weird?

When I first read the script early last year, I thought the writers made up the first name "Thaal" on their own. The reason being was that I couldn't find the origins of that name. I googled, I went to wikipedia, etc.

And since you just mentioned that "Thaal' has always been his first name, I googled again and all of a sudden it pops up everywhere, even in wikipedia.

So what is the origins of 'Thaal'? I read on wikipedia, that 'Thaal' was first mentioned in Blackest Night. If that is the case, that means that the actual script influenced Geoff Johns, who overlooked the drafts.

So if it was the work of the screenwriters, got implanted into the comics then that is friggin' rad. (Think how Batman the Animated Series created Haley Quinn, rebooted Mr. Freeze's backstory and gave Riddler his cane, which all got into the comics)

would be great if we do get a BIG name for sinestro. Hopefully we will have it in a few days with how casting is now coming out.

Christoph Waltz would be a good Sinestro.

I don't know if he wants to be typecast as the villain type. Also, he was cast in Green Hornet as the villain. Not saying that he can't do Green Lantern but I'm just saying..

I honestly can't believe Crispin Glover got any votes :funny:

I personally think Jason Isaacs would nail it to the ****ing wall.

Yea man. He's got that cold, steely glare in his eyes. And he does those arrogant, pompous characters brilliantly. And he can display a real nasty streak too.

There is a few great choices that could do Sinestro justice. But for me, Isaacs would just smash it out of the park.
