The Official Mitt Romney Thread III

Palin is downright moderate compared to some of the people who ran in 2012.

Rick Santorum? Michelle Bachman? What's to the right of that?

Bachmann is struggling to keep her seat, even though she's outspending her opponent 12 to 1.

If the Republicans lose and think the lesson to take away from this election is "go further right", they'll lose 2016.

I guess I dont have a problem with that. I don't disagree that there is a gray area. My main emphasis is in regards to the suffering of the baby. THere are clear indications early in developement that embryos can feel sensation, including pain. I'm sure there is no such sensation the morning after conception. AS far as I know 6-7 weeks is the erliest time we can see signs of life (heartbeat) so I guess I would cal that the gray area. BUt as I've said you have people advocating for the woman;sright to abort up to and including partway thru delivery, for God's sake.
The morning after pill does not work after conception, by the way. It does not abort a pregnancy. Just clarifying.

Marriage is first mentioned in the Bible and is an institution ordained by God as between a man and a woman.
You do understand that the concept of marriage pre-dates Christianity, correct?

EDIT: I see that this was covered earlier.

That's fine by me!

Just read on HuffingtonPost that Chris Christie turned down a request by Mitt Romney to appear with him at a rally on Sunday night in Pennsylvania. A romney campaign source didnt seem to hapoy about it, but romney doesnt seem to think it is a big deal. After all christies state just got raped by mother nature.

Ironically, remember Romneys quip at the convention

"President Obama wants to slow the rise of the oceans. I want to help american families."

Well, Mr. Romney what about global warming and ocean levels now? Still think its BS?

Dude's got his magic underpants on, he'll be fine.

And that's my fault?

If that's my fault, then am I also responsible for the death of Osama Bin Laden, since I voted for the guy who was responsible for killing him? Are people who voted for George W Bush responsible for 9/11, since they voted for the guy who's watch it happened under?

Can I personally hold every Republican and Christian voting citizen accountable for every problem that I see with this country, since I personally view Republican and Christian ideals as a detriment to American society?

Or are you beginning to see how silly it is to hold a voter responsible for a politicians actions, when a lot of what a politician does isn't what the voter voted for in the first place.

To give a much more accurate analogy - if an employer gives me a job, is he responsible if I am a bad employee and don't do the job properly? Or am I responsible, because I'm the one doing the job and I didn't do it right?

Just because our votes gave the guy the job doesn't mean we're responsible for his actions.
If you hold them responsible, you have to hold yourself responsible. Because that is how I premised it on myself. I made mistakes voting, I am culpable and responsible for making things worse, and I find the choices unacceptable. The system too broken to work with anymore for me. By not voting I am beholden to whatever unknowing possibility in the political world, and responsible for adapting to it.

There is nothing silly about it. What's silly is people saying just "VOTE" and "YES WE CAN" without thinking twice what the vote means and the responsibility it holds. You devalue what it means.

Not voting at all, opting out of the system is a choice with responsibilities too though. For one thing it adds to the various demographics you are a part of being under represented and really what politician will ever listen to a group of people who doesn't vote. Also voting is not the only way we influence of government or the political process. What have you done to promote any kind of alternatives to policies or the individuals who make them? Opting out of the political process is not opting out of responsibility for the things it produces.

Also, while you're not voting for the president, what about the myriad of congress elections, or state elections or the state and local ballot initiatives. Are you just opting out of those too though? Because especially on a local level, that's arguably reprehensible.

Gotta agree. If you dont want to vote for the options we have that is fine but you better be out there fighting to change the system otherwise you are a part of the problem. Do your part whether it is voting or working to improve the system. If you are doing nothing then you are freeloading on other peoples choices which is despicable imo. Paradox, you seem to have a good grasp on what could be fixed and improved so if you are not already you should look into campaigning for change.

Apparently Romney campaign staff insiders told Politico that Christie was Romney's first choice for VP, and then he went with Ryan 2 weeks later. They also went on to more or less say his embracing Obama during Sandy was because he felt jilted.

You can never tell if "insider" stories or true or not. However when you toss on the threat from Fox news owner to Christie if he doesn't politicize this in Romney's favor, and it's getting sad. Government actually does it's job, and gets bashed for working too well across the aisles. No wonder things never get done, when even when they do work together it becomes a political target.

I may be being naive, but perhaps Christie really was jilted by the fact that his entire state was nearly swept out to sea.

If christie had been the VP i would have given Romney more thought. No way im giving Ryan Rand a chance at being one step from POTUS.

I'm honestly kind of surprised Romney is as close as he is. I can understand lack of enthusiasm for Obama this time around, but I don't see what about Romney makes anyone think he's a good Presidential candidate.

Well the Republicans view Obama as the anti-Reagan.

Most Democrats are rather disengaged and disillusioned.

That's enough to make it a close race.

That and Republicans dislike Obama so much that they will vote for anyone besides him. Its the same as in 2004, when Democrats voted for John Kerry. They didnt like him but at least he wasnt George Bush.

Daily Currant I believe is satire.

Considering their other articles on the site:

"Al Sharpton turned away from polls"

"Rick Parry forgets who he voted for"

"Fox News calls election for Romney"

"Dick Morris predicts Romney wins California"

"Romney claim he was born in Toledo" (I quickly read that as "tornado" which would have been more awesome).

OMG this is on the front page of youtube with 2,769,008. Wow Mitt Romney looks extremely irritated. This is recent.

You know, Dick Morris is like a reverse Cassandra. Every prediction he makes ends up wrong.

At least he didn't take all night to finally deliver a concession speech.
