Wow, Michelle is a hottie. :hrt:

Great article by Rolling Stone!

I would quote it but, it's really long so, here's the link, instead.

Well, it's good to know that once the election is over, Anne can get a job hosting showings of B-grade horror movies on local television.

Chamon...

It looks like a rainforest flower is eating her. Bashing the wives' dress is pretty low. We know you are voting for Obama LS...you don't have to make fun of Anne Romney to justify your vote.

I agree, bashing how their wives dress is petty. That's one of my least favorite things about elections. People spend more time talking abouthow their wives dress, what grades they got in high school (who cares??), blah blah blah, when I want to hear about their stances on issues! Seriously, I watched in 2008 and it was easier to find a news channel talking about Michelle Obama's fashion sense than about what any of the candidates' actual positions were.

Um, where are you coming from? I articulated why I felt that the way First Ladies (and those who hope to take the role) dress and carry themselves have an impact on how the candidates are viewed and the voting process for women. Did you even read my post? If you had, you would've seen that I wasn't "bashing" Ann for the sake of it. There was specific meaning behind both my posts and I couldn't have been clearer.

Just because you don't care for the comment doesn't mean I'm taking a low blow or "driving off a cliff lately". It's not like I said the dress is just fugly for the hell of it. I prefaced my comments by saying I didn't believe it was becoming of a POTUS candidates wife...especially one who claims to be conservative.

Why are you so sensitive about all of this?

These people are applying for a JOB--in the highest office of the land--an office that is both revered and hated by billions of people. The Romney's are interviewing for this position. How you dress and groom yourself can either build or lessen respect for you--especially in the eyes of potential employers.

In this case, the American people are the "potential employers" considering these job candidates for positions in the White House. Therefore, everything from their policies to how they project themselves is going to be scrutinized. What would you think of Michelle Obama dying her hair green with a ton of piercings? Wouldn't that make her--and by extension, her husband--a laughingstock among other world leaders? Would such fashion choices engender respect for the office? Do you honestly believe that wouldn't affect mainstream American's vote?

The above is an extreme example; I'll grant you that. But critiquing candidates (and their wives) appearance is fair and certainly not petty. It tells us who they are as people. Critics are bashing Ann's dress because they feel it makes her look trashy and unbecoming of a woman for her age and stature. It's not super serious and yet, this is a valid criticism since she's campaigning to be the face of American women on the world stage.

Have you ever had to interview or hire people in a professional setting to work for you before?

Perhaps we should have a "Presidential/First Lady Fashion Thread"?

If the presidency is a job, the CEO of the US, then the current CEO has sucked and needs to be fired. Instead, we critique the other guy's wife's wardrobe? Oof.

That reminds me how vapid and hollow the voting public is. We elect presidents based on style instead of substance. Remember the ET report on that cruise ship that sunk? Their story title was 'Real Life Titanic'. That is the US political scene in a nut shell. I don't have any faith in the American people any more. Everyone is voting on style, lack of knowledge, or brand loyalty. We are screwed. Every nation in history rises and falls. It's because of the complacency and dependency of that nation's people.

Not judging Anne BUT as with any job when you are being evaluated you should dress accordingly. I think the outfit is fine and dont find anything inappropriate about it. Those leopard print shoes are ridiculous tho. Anne is free to dress as she pleases but it can affect how she is viewed.

This does seem to be a uniquely American phenomena. In most countries, it doesn't matter who the first lady is. Aside from one or two interviews, they're irrelevant to the electoral process.

It is for all intents and purposes a political office in America.

Won't be long now before the first ladies start having their own debates.

Beginning with 2012, I am loyal to the LP. Does that count?

America: What's a LP?

Me: ...

Well i wouldn't want a leader who cant maintain his family and lets them run around dressing and acting like hoodlums. And in the US the first lady does have a job to do. Superficial it may be to some, fundraisers and her endeavors do matter, and she is directly connected to the leader of the country. With that comes a certain responsibility. I personally expect her to act and dress in accordance.

Mrs. Obama has been widely regarded as one of the most fashionable First Ladies since Jackie Kennedy Onassis, man.

With all do respect, what is that REALLY saying? Michelle Obama is more fashionable than a bunch of 60-70 year old women?
:oldrazz:

Funny as it is, Hillary easily had the most contemporary styles of first ladies. Jackie Kennedy was not only hot (so she looked good in everything), but used her position of influence to her advantage by being different. Michelle O has been fine, but nobody has touched Jackie K. She was a Britney Spears sized trendsetter during her years in office. Even today, 50 years later, people (even all the recent first ladies) are all mimicking her.

We haven't had a first lady who dared to dress differently, and could pull it off, since Jackie.

Hey, if Michelle Bachmann was President, you'd have THE most fab-u-lous First Spouse in the history of your country.

Ha yeah. Princess Diana is the only comparison to Jackie. Kate Middleton's hardly got the style of her mother in law. Not bad either, but just quite cookie cutter.

Jackie didnt follow trends, she set them. Michelle Obama hasn't really dont that.

Oh, Jackie. Beautiful woman. I love the esrly 60s style. Beautiful and yet not entirely revealing. Just classic.

The closer we get to election day the more desperate **** is going to get. I feel the Romney team has some trump card against Obama they're saving to unleash.

"ill donate half my wealth to the national debt!"

[YT]1ytCEuuW2_A[/YT] A reminder to always check your sources.:lmao:
Alright, alright, you guys got me. I'll be the first to admit my mistake.:sus

Still, my point stands. Michelle has worn some fugly outfits in the past, but that SHOULD NOT AFFECT ANYTHING.
