It was a ridiculous thread. Albeit, I contend TDKR is better than several films nominated for Best Picture in 2012. With that said, it never had a chance of being recognized.

I believe if the critics/members had received TDKR as highly as TDK it could've slipped into one of the BP nomination. TDK was the first CBM to even approach that level that it opened the possibility of such a thing happening.

The Dark Knight was cheated for nominations in Best Screenplay. Best Director. And YES, - Also Best Picture! It was THE movie of 2008! The academy was just being idiotic about it.

I highly doubt that MOS will snatch nominations in any of the above categories. But it doesn't hurt to dream though. But fact of the matter is that no CBM has ever been nominated. And when not even TDK made it, then I really don't think that MOS will either. But that doesn't mean that it wouldn't derserve it

This. I believe MOS will be as deserving of it as TDK was, if not more so in some regards.

HOWEVER, The Academy just doesn't like nor does it accept CBMs and it sadly feels as though it will be many years before they do. I'm pretty sure this is one of Marvel's reasons for not pushing The Avengers during awards season. There was no point.

Even Ledger's nomination and win for TDK, though EXTREMELY deserving, felt like it only came because he died the previous year and that it would be disrespectful not to nominate him.
