Robert Downey Jr. Could, and Should, Get an Oscar Nomination for Avengers: Endgame

Eh it’s wishful thinking. He’s definitely a part of pop culture now but he should have been nominated for the first Iron Man.

Eh it’s wishful thinking. He’s definitely a part of pop culture now but he should have been nominated for the first Iron Man.

Well, it could turn out like Return of the King, even though the others in that series should've won something but were never acknowledged. RDJ couldn't really have been nominated for Iron Man, because no-one would've considered comic book films worthy of anything at the time. Even now they might not.

Johansson will not compaign for that movie since she is a Favorite for Jojo Rabbit in that category. I love the Oscars, but except you are gay, black or a modern it is really hard to sell this. I only can see Visuals here. Russos for directors is impossible.

Even without Jojo Rabbit being Fox Searchlight's Oscar darling, I don't think Black Widow's character had enough of a dramatic evolution to warrant Awards attention. Scarlett was excellent in this but her character's arc in Endgame is more of a culmination/conclusion, rather than going from Point A to B to C like RDJ.

It's hard to argue for Best Directors because so much of Endgame is a product of work put in by other directors before them.

The only nomination I can see is Visual Effects, and good luck winning for that against The Lion King.
