Hell yes...The Year of Rorschach! I expect Watchmen to do pretty well, though because of the R rating I don't know if it will do as well as TDK.

It won't. Though it could be in terms of popularity the next 300. I don't wanna see jocks saying they're experts on the films and have seen it a million times while they don't know where the hell it originally came from which is where they make fun of us. :woot: Just like 300.

It's ironic with the masses. They make fun of us for liking this stuff. And guess what? When the film comes out the GA make it successful and it warrents sequels.

So in the end, we've secretly always won.

Yeah i'm really afraid of this entering into the mainstream too much. I mean I want more fans to enjoy it as much as the next guy, but I want fans that actually read the GN, and appreciate both the movie and the book. There's just certain things I don't want to see happen when it comes to the public and this movie.

yeah, maybe a good fraction of the GA might be intrigued enough to look up and read the source material...

that'd be cool

Because it's such a ridiculous term to use, it sounds like you place yourself above other movie-goers because you read a comic.

oh, my bad, didn't mean for it to sound like that
I just kinda know what's gonna go down and figure I'll appreciate it a little more because I've read it a couple times

no high-horsedness intended

No problem, I know why people use the term, it's much easier to write GA then to write people who haven't read the comic book and afterall, this is the internet, everybody uses abbreviations. It just sound very, like you said, high-horshish. (damn that's an ugly word, and not even a real one:p)

lol, the made up ones tend to be...

Haha, i wrote a paper on this during my first semester at college last year, and aced it.

In a sense though, i don't really care. It's going to happen regardless. Some of the greatest novels ever written were turned into films, some of the best. I only get pissy when they drastically change the novel when making the movie(and we're not talking excluding a squid alien) and convince themselves and everyone else that this is how the book is, like The Spirit, or Coppola's Dracula.

But in my recent experiences, i've turned several people onto Watchmen and they all loved it. Watchmen is still on the best sellers list, so more and more people are checking this out.

Well, sales for the book increased when the trailer was released. So imagine what the actual movie will do.

Indeed. There's that saying. Be nice to the nerds in school. Chances are they'll be your boss.

Or will pull up to McDonalds in their new Lamborghini and will grab their orders from you in the drive-thru window.

It's good that you don't care, dude. Be proud of what you love. A fan is a fan no matter what you like.

don't mention it,..urmm, where's your avatar from if I may ask?

Did anyone else envision Rorschach's voice of being more like that of an idiot savant? Broken speech pattern with awkward pauses and tones? Kinda like Billy Bob Thorton in Sling Blade with a bit more sophistication.

that's how i read it. well the broken speech patterns part.

DV got to it before me. It is indeed from The Spirit. I don't know about the film, but I definately know that Johanson's smoking hot.
