Sequels The official NEXT ROGUE thread

I'm pretty sure it's been said that there is at least a six month gap between X-Men and X2... I'm not sure about X2 and The Last Stand, but there is definitely more than a couple of weeks between them... Alkali Lake is covered in wintery snow when Jean sacrifices herself, whereas she re-emerges in warmer, snow-less weather. Moreover, there's been a change of Presidents, and a growing change in public opinion which could mean a fair amount of time has passed.

Excuse me there are not even six month gaps inbetween each film storywise. So everyone was the same age they were in all three of them.

No. IMO only short hair makes her look more mature.
I know there was a 1 month gap between X1 and X2 (listen to what Scott says to Jean in the museum), but I don't think there was any indication of the gap between X2 and X3, was there?

No, but Jean's hair was considerably longer and Logan seemed to have gotten over (initially) the death of the woman he "loved". So I guess we can assume it's been a decent amount of time between the final films - at least far longer than the gap between X1 and X2.

Yeah, that's my theory, too. I just meant there wasn't any conclusive evidence, like in X2 where Scott flat-out says it had been a month since Liberty Island. I have, however, posted lists of reasons I thought it was probably around 3 years between X2 and X3.

I think 3 years is a bit of a stretch. After all, if Scott was so tormented by visions of Jean for that length of time, wouldn't he have gone to Alkali Lake before?

Not if he wasn't getting visions the whole time, or if the visions were different before (not pushing him to go back).

3 years is crazy. Definetly not true. Probably between 2 and 6 months.

I hope that they build on Rogue a lot more, because she was one of the characters that degressed during the 3 films. In X1, she had all this development and screen time that was so strong. Then in X2, even though she was "just there", it felt like she was starting to use her powers more, even starting to except who she was. Then in X3, all that depth went away and she got cured just so she and Bobby could "bone"!:whatever: In X4, I hope we see a tougher and independent Rogue; I don't mean the sassy southern balle who can fly and is really strong but her given some strong development again and maybe get her old powers back.:word:

There's no way Jean's hair would have grown that much in 6 months, and there's no way Xavier would have concluded that "Scott is a changed man" because he wasn't over his fiance's death in only 6 months. I don't then Rogue and Bobby would have had that much of a communication breakdown in 6 months, either, but I think my first two arguments are stronger than that one.

Agreed. She doesn't have Ms. Marvel powers in my script, but she does develop an edge and becomes more independent. Gambit and Rogue form an alliance, but it's an alliance that promotes her independence rather than her neediness.

Jean's long hair was more a creative decision than a continuity issue....

We're basing our theories on clues, not conclusive evidence. The writers might be able to say "yeah, we decided to screw continuity - the movies were a week apart", but they haven't. Ergo, it's just as solid a piece of evidence as anything else.

Here we go again. This lack of specifying time between X2 and X3 just creates arguments among users.

I'd love to see a Rogue movie, but only if shes with the Botherhood, but I think it maybe hard to do that considering they tried to kill her and she holds a grudge against them, but still...

It could be said that she left because she already encountered Ms. Marvel and then the movie could be about her dealing with the other personality and trying to get the X-Men's trust again.

they don't need Miss Marvel, just one unknown mutant with flying power, and that's all.

Rogue just needs to get her super strength and flight, i'm starting to not care from who she gets it from but i just think that they need to give her that in a movie.

What about this Rogue for X4?

if shes willing to kill people and not give a crap sure, but that would never happen, she needs to be covered up more, alot more

hahaha, true.

But I was talking more about the hair, hehe. Of course she won't use that costume, hehe. the original photo has this kind of dress.

What about this Rogue for X4?

Hate the outfit, love the hair. The outfit should have a high neck like all the other X-Men wear, but it should be a sleeveless two-piece with short shorts. I'd love to see a fight scene where she wins with a leg scissor, her bare thighs wrapped around her opponent's neck, draining his/her energy and power until he/she faints. She'd also wear knee-high boots and elbow-length gloves that have a slit down to the wrist for easy removal, buttoning at the elbow to keep them in place. All black, of course, with green piping on the two-piece (no piping on the gloves or boots).

Yup, I've got it all figured out. ;)

So there's this mutant. Let's call him Powerhouse, who can benchpress 50 tons, has indestructible skin, and can fly. Let's say he works for the Hellfire Club and is their Black Rook. At one point Powerhouse and Colossus are fighting and Rogue is trying to help. Powerhouse gets Peter trapped by a bunch of boulders. Powerhouse is about to kill Peter until Rogue grabs him and starts to drain his powers. Powerhouse falls to the ground unconscious.

Peter however is being crushed by an amount of weight that he can't lift alone. Rogue rushes to help with a portion of her new found strength. They cannot remove the weight of the mountain together and Peter claims that he is about to pass out. If he passes out he'll revert to normal and he will be killed.

Rogue turns to Powerhouse and drains the remaining strength from him and helps Peter get the boulders off of him. They succeed only to find that Rogue has permanently drained Powerhouse. In effect killing him.

Rogue now has super strength, invulnerability, and flight.

And some guilt.

Would that work? :D

Once Rogue has absorbed the powers, she's absorbed them. She wouldn't have to go back and re-absorb to gain more power. The longer she holds on, the longer the powers last, but the period of touch has nothing to do with the potency of power.

Besides, I don't think those powers fit Rogue. I'd like to see her become comfortable with her own powers in X5, then absorb Pyro's in X5 as a variation on the Sunfire storyline from the comics. Pyro contracts the Legacy Virus, and is treated by Hank at the X-Mansion. As Pyro's health deteriorates, he begs Rogue to kill him with her touch. She refuses, but he makes her promise that the moment he dies, she will touch him, in the hopes that a long enough touch at just the right time will cause a permanent transfer of power and he can "live on" through her. She agrees, figuring she probably won't be in the room when it happens, anyway; however, she does find herself sitting next to his bed at the moment he passes. She instantly grabs his arm and begins absorbing his psyche. His powers rush into her body; his thoughts and memories flood her mind, interspersed with visions of a white light fast approaching. She wonders briefly if her soul is following his to the afterlife, or if she's just watching him go. As the rush of energy reaches its agonizing climax, she collapses to her knees, though her hand remains tightly grasped around his arm. With some effort, she peels her hand off of his skin. Beads of blood peek out from his pores where she had touched him. She looks at her own hand and realizes that it, too, had blood sucked out from its pores. Pyro is now a permanent part of her. Not just his powers, or the guilt she feels over taking his powers at the moment of his death, but his mind and his personality, which now commingle with her own; such that she sometimes has trouble discerning his thoughts and memories from hers.

Huzzah! :bh:</random use of Hulk emoticon>
