'Heroes' is entirely different. They aren't superheroes with costumes, a mansion base, a jet.

You got a 'Heroes'-type Rogue in the X-movies. I don't know what Bryan had planned for the character in the future, if he'd done X3, but she was never going to have battle skills. You'd have to have an entirely different X3 without the Alcatraz battle for Rogue to be involved. It would be something like the dam sequences in X2 - smaller fight scenes with individuals sneaking around. Then you could have Rogue suddenly grab someone or drop down on someone.

But X3's Alcatraz battle, and Anna going off to film Margaret, meant she was never going to have a kick-ass role in X3.

In my X4 script, she actually...oops that would be telling!

I can't even imagine her being too useful in the Alcatraz battle seeing as her absorption takes at least 10 seconds to activate.

That's really simple: before the battle starts, Storm and Kitty can give her their powers, so she would be ready to protect herself, and attack too.

It doesn't take THAT long. It didn't take that long for her to borrow Pyro's power in X2, nor for her to take Colossus's armour in X3 (in the Danger Room). In fact, I don't think it's ever taken as long as 10 seconds.

But what would the point be of having another mutant with identical powers, script wise? That's not really creative.

Besides, technically anyone that touches Rogue is supposed to be down for the count for awhile.

It hasn't worked like that in the movies. When she takes someone's power, she weakens them at the very least. She might leave Storm and Kitty weakened and unable to use their own powers properly. And we have no real evidence that she retains their powers for a long time and can tap into them and turn them on and off and use different sets of powers. You are mixing up movie Rogue with comicbook Rogue. Movie Rogue isn't as advanced as the comicbook version.

not the way I remember it.:o

When we see her taking Peter's power he was already holding her so we don't see how long it takes. It took some time for Pyro's.

Not as long as ten seconds. Ten seconds is a very long time!

Yes, I know. But that's a writers's fault. They could have explained a bit the powers of Rogue, in one scene. And then in the final battle, absorb the power of one or two x-men, during a shor time, of course; the rest can't be weaker to fight. And then, before Rogue looses the power of Storm, or Kitty, she could have absorbed the powers of a brotherhood member.

That could have been done, if well written, of course, and some explanation.

I use the Petrelli example again. They did it well with him, why not with Rogue?

ok, maybe it was 7/8 seconds, but that's still a long time for someone who's power is supposedly volatile.

Peter Petrelli doesn't have to touch anyone.

Rogue practically absorbs Colossus' power instantaneously. The second he puts his hand on her head she absorbs his power and transforms...

Rogue's absorption via her contact with mutants becomes quicker with each movie.

it seems so.

Never liked that moment in X3. Rogue should have been the one to touch him, it seemed like was Colossus who made her metal up.

he was already holding her, wasn't he?

Why? Colossus had almost no screen time to begin with, so they wanted to give him a scene where he saves someone. That was it.

he had a decent amount of screentime. But he had like one line.

yes, that's a nice idea, but maybe he could have protected her, placing him in front of her, and then with a new atack of the Sentinel, with a missile or something, she could have absorbed his power, with his previous approval.

In my opinion, this would have been better, because that momment would be longer and they had a few words to each other, something that the film needed in every scene almost.

I really don't get where you're coming from, unless you were just looking for Rogue to steal the scene.

Eh, I thought Colossus was horrendously underused (but who wasn't, seeing as how much screentime Hugh Jackman got?). I was horribly disappointed that there was no Juggy/Colossus throwdown at Alcatraz. Blow away, actually. That took a lot of points away in my book... I mean, they could have had the two fight and still had time for Juggernaut's chase scene with Kitty.

I didn't want that. I mean, I love Rogue, but I think all the x-men need his time, to shine, all deserve development, and dialogue.

My idea has action from both, and words from both. This would be the right way to use a team, no?

I have the impression you don't like Rogue at all, don't know why, hehe.

It's not like there were multiple threats. It was a quick, one shot deal that wasn't supposed to amount to much at all. It doesn't really matter which character initiated it, but I thought it was better for Colossus to do it, since he was basically screwed over throughout the film scene/line wise. It gave his character something, at least.

And no, I don't just hate Rogue. Her character has potential, and at times in X-history I haven't had a problem with her.

But modern day Rogue is horrendous, and the way she's been portrayed in recent X-Multimedia (The films, and even Evolution) has been horrendous. Her character has been reduced to a whining waste of time.

That does not, however, change the fact that I do not think Rogue should suddenly burst onto the scene and be a leading player that absorbs every powere in the world and becomes mega super duper powerful ROXOR!!!!1!!!11! in the next film. That's why I've debated with you and others in these threads.

What was wrong with Rogue in Evolution?

Evo Rogue was actually, power-wise, one of the best and most creative versions of Rogue so far. The show was probably the only media in which her original powers were used wisely and in an offensive way. Let's not get into the Goth look though.

Totally agreed.

Those who have seen the 4 seasons know that her character is one the most important, and the use of her power was totally great.

And just seeing a few moments from this series on screen, and with Anna Paquin, would be an big gift to the Rogue fans, and an amazing spectacle.

What's with that? I liked that style. And I loved that episode where she gets mad, controlling all powers she absorbed... exposed in a creative way, indeed.
I can't remember its title... anybody know?

I picked other. Id introduce Monet to the franchise and have Rogue perma-absorb her so we could get more of classic Rogue in the films
