The Official Nintendo E3 Thread!

I find it funny how Nintendo actually unveiled content worth discussing on these boards, unlike its competitors, yet the Sony and Microsoft E3 topics are getting far more attention.

You know why.

I may have actually been sold on a 3DS with that conference, if nothing else, really want Kid Icarus.

By and large this is a rather anti-nintendo forum though, so that's to be expected.

Of all the companies though, MS is the one that dropped the ball the hardest...well maybe besides Ubisoft, but that's par for the course. I usually discuss games more over at PA.

Gametrailers is doing their E3 awards show and Kirby: Epic Yarn won overall best graphics. Nintendo won best press conference

A Goldeneye Remake for Wii that brings back all the classic elements hwile remaking it for new technological standards?

AWESOME.

Daniel Craig replacing Pierce Brosnan as James Bond in Goldeneye.

Say what?!?!

It just seems wrong that Craig is James Bond in Brosnan's definitive Bond adventure. Really wrong. (not to mention the whole first act being set in 1986 and Bond's aging obsoleteness to the new "M" dynamic is lost on Craig).

But the game could be real interesting.

And then there is a new Kirby and Kid Icarus? :) :D

And then Zelda....after waiting four (with one more to go) years for the "true Wii Zelda," I was a bit underwhelmed by the blandness of the presentation. The graphics look no better than TP and other the Wii Plus sword fighting, it still looks like the same game engine except the return of the cell shading (which oddly as of right now looks inferior to WW's style in GC 7 freaking years ago).

But it's Zelda...so I already know I am getting it, thus I shall remain hopeful.

With that said, solid job. Last year was good for my PS3 but other than Red Dead Redemption, there has not been a single PS3 game to interest me this year (I rented GOW3, having not played the first two, and came away thinking "pretty graphics, boring game").

Nintendo between these offerings, Red Steal 2 and Super Mario Galaxy 2 looks to be earning me the opportunity to dust off my Wii, as other than Super Mario Bros. Wii, 2009....and the second half of 2008....was nothing but crickets for the Wii. Good to see that after this dry spell Nintendo is finally bringing the goods again.

Actually I'm getting tired of Zelda's stale formula. If I've played one 3D Zelda, I've played them all (Wind Waker did try shake things up tho). Skyward Sword looks like the same old same old, so I might actually pass on it.

Nintendo promised to radically try something new with Pokémon and Zelda, and so far, I'm not seeing enough new.

Well since theres no year for this thread so im gonna ask this for the Wii fans, anyone hoping nintendo releases something around 2011 E3 like the Wii Hd, especially with the sony move already out and kinect coming out soon the Wii is gonna look outdated, so i think its now a must to get something out before the Wii is irrelevant

Well...it's obvious that since the Wii's sales are dipping Nintendo has started to focus a little bit on the "core gamer". And since the HD consoles which are what most of the "core" crowd have, and since they are encroaching on Nintendo's territory with motion controls, I do think it's a strong possibility that Nintendo might fire a shot back with Wii HD next E3.

Of course Nintendo is always a bit of a wild card, so who knows? They could pull the trigger on the next generation of consoles early and totally put Microsoft and Sony to shame.

In an interview, Iwata and Reggie have both gone on record and said that a simple WiiHD revamp wouldn't happen. They said the next Wii will be in HD, but for them to consider it worth their while, it will have to have something more and different.

Nintendo rarely does console revamps like they do their handhelds, so chances are when Nintendo reveals the Wii2 it will be a true next generation Nintendo console rather than just an upscale WiiHD.

Like you said Soapy, chances are Nintendo will be the ones to start off the next generation console era and end up forcing MS or Sony to move forward...but who knows...we'll see. You never know with Nintendo, they tend to play to a different tune than the other companies.

Nintendo always is the innovator in this area, but then it's like, "we can improve on it" is the mindset of other companies, so as to ape the idea without actually aping it.
