Finally got a chance to read # 640 today.
This is definitely, so far, the best of the arc. Only two pages of Quesada and the rest are Rivera...AWESOME!
We also got to see Eddie appear in the arc once again, I was wondering when he was going to show his face. So, it seems that the person who had further plans for him was the Kingpin. I thought that was a nice touch with all that happened between Pete and The Kingpin during Back in Black.
My small gripes with the issue was Eddie going after Aunt Anna and Mary Jane. I mean Eddie is supposed to be this bad ass hit man for Kingpin and he wouldn't whack Aunt Anna? I mean why didn't he shoot her in the head before he went chasing after Mary Jane? And what was up with that last shot he took right when Spidey showed up? To me...it seemed he had a point blank shot at MJ's head and took it, THEN Spidey throws him away AFTER the shot. How the HELL do you miss?
Those things just sort of irked me. I know it's a comic and everything but it just rubbed me the wrong way.
Overall, I enjoyed it. I liked the last page with Strange going to Stark and Richards about Peter's request. The last part should be very interesting to see how everything goes.
Quesada is a good Editor in Chief and a solid artist. Maybe not so much on this arc but generally he's pretty good. However, when it comes to writing Spider-Man he should sort of not do it. I have to say that, so far, this hasn't been a horrible arc. I have enjoyed them tying up the loose ends between One More Day and Brand New Day. It's just that it's about two years too late.
Paolo Rivera is DEFINITELY making this arc easy on the eyes, that's for sure. I hope to see him get further high profile work at Marvel, or even DC. I've really enjoyed his stuff.
